Description and is it worth a visit
Bui Vien Walking Street is the most crowded and noisy street not only in Ho Chi Minh City, but in general in the whole of Vietnam. It is a bit like Walking Street in Thai Pattaya or Bangla Road in Phuket. It's always fun here, too, especially in the evenings, although the scale of debauchery is, of course, smaller compared to Thai resorts. The street is located in the very center of the tourist area, and this is one of the must-see places in Saigon, where you need to come to have fun or just take a walk.
In the daytime, this is an ordinary street with shops and cafes, but closer to sunset, all the fun begins. It is transformed and becomes the center of attraction for tourists from all over Saigon. Noisy bars and restaurants, nightclubs are starting to work, additional tables and chairs are being set up by the road. Dance music sounds from everywhere, enticing beauties and handsome men dance on the catwalks. Some bars have live music. If you decide to sit in a cafe, we advise you to take a walk first and find the best place in terms of noise and entertainment – there is a lot to choose from. Barkers from cafes with signs meet everywhere and vying to offer drinks and food. Beer and other alcohol are very cheap here (from 20,000 per bottle / 0.76 USD), you can even eat for a reasonable price, especially at the beginning or at the end of the street. In bars and cafes, when ordering, a service fee of about 10% is added to the final bill. At the same time, we did not meet any inflated prices and replacement menus – everything is clear, tested on our own experience.
Sellers of flowers, fans, souvenirs and other small things walk along the street. Someone earns money by showing simple performances with the collection of donations. But the most important thing is that here you can not only sit in one of the cafes, but also find a girl or a guy for the evening. However, unlike Thai entertainment streets, here they catch customers not so much in cafes and clubs, but in quieter and darker alleys, departing from Bui Vien, and behave very modestly and carefully.
And everything would be fine, but there is one big minus of this place. Despite the signs theoretically prohibiting travel along Bui Vien Walking Street in the evening, in fact, even at the peak of the festivities, it does not overlap, and local residents continue to ride motorbikes along it, take tourists by taxi. The street is not very wide, and passing vehicles, along with a crowd of walking tourists, create inconveniences and even traffic jams.
It is not sweet at night for those who decide to stay in local hotels. Music and noise continue until late at night, it's impossible to fall asleep here.
