Nha Trang has two airports at once: Nha Trang airport (Nha Trang Air Base) and Nha Trang Cam Ranh Airport (Cam Ranh International Airport, code CXR). The first airport is located right in the city. in the most tourist quarter of Nha Trang and currently does not accept civilian flights. In reality, only the International Airport of Nha Trang Cam Ranh is important for tourists, located 30 kilometers south of the city (see the position of the airport on the interactive map of Nha Trang).

International flights to Nha Trang

Nha Trang airport has international status and accepts, among other things, flights from Russia. In particular, in 2013, Vietnam Airlines launched a direct scheduled flight from Moscow to Nha Trang. This flight takes 10 hours and is the fastest way to get to Nha Trang. You can also fly to the airport with a transfer in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, and in season the Russian S7 aircraft flies from Novosibirsk and Irkutsk, including offering low-cost flights with transfers from Moscow and St. Petersburg.just note that the cheapest S7 fares do not include luggage, but only hand luggage. In addition to regular flights, many charter flights from the regions of Russia are organized seasonally.

The cost of a direct flight from Russia in most cases is higher than a flight with a transfer, besides, flights with a transfer can be picked up on an arbitrary date and time, while a direct flight is performed only twice a week.

Nha Trang airport is small, but everything you need is present in it. The layout is very simple and does not cause any difficulties.

How to get from the airport to Nha Trang

There are no problems getting to the tourist area of Nha Trang or another area from the airport. You can take a taxi or airport bus.

• By taxi

  It is recommended to use an official taxi, and the trip is more profitable at a fixed cost, and not at the counter. Taxi parking is located immediately at the exit from the airport. The price to the city center is fixed - 380,000 VND (this is about $ 18, see the exchange rate of Vietnam currency), and this price is clearly indicated on the blue signs at the entrance to the parking lot. If one of the drivers asks for more, look for another taxi driver. Attention, the price is as of the end of 2013, check the current price on the signs in the parking lot.

• By airport bus

  This is a good and inexpensive way to get to the center of Nha Trang. Small buses or minibuses depart after the arrival of almost every flight, cost 70,000 VND. Tickets are sold at the counter at the exit from the baggage claim area, there you will be told where to go for boarding.

  The airport bus goes to the Old Airport of Nha Trang, i.e. almost to the most tourist area. From there, most hotels can be reached on foot. Also, when boarding, you can indicate to the driver where you need to go, and he will drop you off as close as possible to the place you need, if it is on the way.

• By rented car

  Since 2014, in Vietnam, on completely legal grounds, you can drive a rented vehicle with an international driver's license (IDP) that meets the requirements of the Vienna Convention on road traffic (Read more about motorcycle and car rental in Vietnam). These are issued in the Russian Federation, and earlier it was necessary to obtain temporary local rights, and no others in the country were recognized. Now you can safely drive on a driver's license issued in Russia. Just do not forget that the IDI acts only in conjunction with national rights, so you need to take both types of rights to Vietnam at once. You can get an IDP in the traffic police. Taking exams for obtaining an IDP is not required.
