Loo - a resort village on the Black Sea coast, one of the most popular for budget holidays in the resort city of Sochi. Officially, Loo is not a village, but one of the microdistricts in the greater Lazarevsky District of Sochi, but in fact it is an independent Resort and a large village, one of the largest in the district. Located 45 kilometers from Lazarevsky and 25 kilometers from the center of Sochi (Loo on the map).

The resort area of Loo stretches along the coast for more than 4 kilometers and there are two railway stations at once: "loo" and "mountain air". Very close to the North is another station "Lesnaya", and to the South is the microdistrict and the station Uch-Dere. Therefore, often when tourists talk about loo, in fact, several microdistricts and villages are meant at once: the actual center of loo, mountain air and lower Khobza (Lesnaya station), as well as several mountain villages at a distance from the coast.

Holidays in Loo

Loo is a typical and very popular beach resort in Sochi with a well-developed infrastructure and a large number of budget accommodation options. Actually, it is the latter that stands out among all other more or less developed and largeresorts of Sochi. If you do not have large funds for rest in expensive Sochi hotels or did not have time in advance before the start of the season to book accommodation at a reasonable price, then Loo is one of your options.

At the same time, everything you need for recreation is here: Clean Sea and beach, traditional tourist entertainment on the shore and embankment, there is a water park and a dolphinarium, inexpensive catering, inexpensive group excursions are sold. And all this for a reasonable price, which will be affordable for everyone who wants to relax on the Black Sea coast. For example, even in peak season, you can stay in a private guest house cheaper than 1000 rubles for two, and a family of 2+2 can easily find options from 1500 rubles.

But for objectivity it is impossible not to mention the minuses of the resort, because for a holiday at a low price you will have to sacrifice comfort and far from the best conditions. The main problem of Loo is the beaches. Unfortunately, they are far from ideal. For example, in the very center of the village along the embankment, the beach strip is very narrow and often washed away by waves, and then the beach practically disappears. If you move from the center to the north (towards Tuapse and Lazarevskoye), then it is almost impossible to swim and relax there, since the coast is rocky. Well, if you go along the coast to the south, then although there is a strip of beach and stretches almost continuously, but not everyone will like the large pebbles mixed with gray sand, and approaching almost to the shore ugly buildings of boathouses. Not everyone will like the layout of the village. The residential area with the largest number of accommodation options available is on the slopes of the coastal mountains, so for a walk to the shore you probably have to go down or up every time. The railway passing through the entire resort along the coast and the main highway of Sochi, on which, by the way, constant traffic jams and, as a result, gas pollution, do not add comfort. As a result, there are simply no places for a walk around the resort during the rest except for a short embankment, the streets are narrow, the sidewalks are not everywhere and are most often filled with cars.

Infrastructure in Loo

As we have already written, Loo has everything you need for a holiday, but without frills. In the village there are several chain supermarkets "Pyaterochka", "magnet", "red and white", as well as local grocery stores with slightly higher prices than the network. Goods for recreation, souvenirs, Krasnodar teas, churchkhela, homemade alcohol and other products for vacationers are sold at endless street markets, from stalls on the embankment, or at the local market on Klubny lane. But there are no shopping centers here at all, and for serious shopping you will have to go to the center of Sochi or Lazarevskoye.

Catering in Loo is very well represented, but only at the height of the season. At the beginning and end of the season, many establishments are still closed, and in winter almost everything is closed. In the summer, there are a lot of budget family canteens, where the bill per person will be from 100 rubles; cafes and restaurants on the embankment with a kitchen and alcoholic beverages where you can eat and drink from 400 rubles per person; kebabs with prices from 90 rubles per 100 grams of ready-made shish kebab. While relaxing on the beach, you can buy beach fast food from peddlers without leaving your place (but we do not recommend this) or buy ready meals and draft soft drinks and beer in establishments and stalls along the beach and on the embankment.

On the promenade and streets of the resort you can find points of sale of inexpensive group excursions and individual tours in jeeps, horseback riding, hiking, sea fishing and walking. You can also buy tickets from tour sellers for entertainment and cultural events held in Sochi concert halls, sports events in Olympic Park in Sirius (formerly Adler). Other tourist services are also offered, such as: bicycle rental, sports equipment, leisure items, tourist transfer (taxi).

Loo is a budget resort with a large selection of inexpensive accommodation options. But you need to understand that low prices do not mean that for cheap you will get high quality here. It's just that there are a lot of inexpensive accommodation options with the most minimal amenities for very unassuming tourists.

How to get to Loo

Loo is one of the largest and most developed resorts in the Lazarevsky District of Greater Sochi, located 45 kilometers from Lazarevsky, 25 kilometers from the center of Sochi and 270 from Krasnodar (Loo on the map). You can get here by plane through Sochi (Adler) airport or Krasnodar airport, by train from almost all regions of the Russian Federation, by intercity buses or private transport.

• By plane

  You can get to Loo by plane through the two nearest airports: Sochi International Airport (aka Adler airport, IATA code for ticket search – AER) and, in extreme cases, through Krasnodar airport (IATA code for ticket search – KRR). Krasnodar airport is quite far away and it is more expensive and longer to get from it than from Adler, so we advise you to use it only if there are no convenient or affordable flights to Sochi from your city/region.

  Sochi Sevastianov airport is located at the other end of the city of Sochi on the outskirts of Adler 55 kilometers away (airport on the map). You can get to Loo upon arrival by taxi (from 1800 rubles, an hour and a half on the way), city buses (from 250 rubles, more than three hours with transfers), electric trains (256 rubles, a little more than an hour on the way), or rent a car. Depending on the chosen transport and traffic jams on the road will take from 2 to 4 hours.

• By train

  There is a railway station in Loo (station on the map), where all long-distance trains to Sochi and Abkhazia, as well as commuter trains from Sochi, Adler, Krasnodar, Sochi airport, and Tuapse stop. Check the schedule and buy tickets better on the official website of Russian Railways or at the ticket offices of your city. When buying on the site, it is better to first register in the Russian Railways bonus system in order to save points for the next trips.

• By bus

  There is no bus station in Loo, passing intercity buses stop next to the railway station. City buses of Greater Sochi stop at stops on the Main Street of The Decembrists, it is also the main road E6 along the coast in Sochi. Intercity buses passing through the Loo to the center of Sochi can be reached from Moscow and neighboring regions (Rostov-on-Don, Stavropol, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kislovodsk, Makhachkala, Astrakhan, Yalta, Kislovodsk). The last few hours of the trip will take place along the mountain serpentines of the coastal highway with a long standstill in traffic jams on the section after Dzhubga, which is unlikely to add pleasant impressions to your rest. Therefore, we do not recommend using buses as long-distance transport. However, this is the only option if you need to get to Loo from the cities and resorts of the Krasnodar Territory that do not have a railway connection. These are, for example, Dzhubga, Gelendzhik, Arkhipo-Osipovka, Anapa, Novorossiysk and other cities north of Tuapse.

• By car in Loo

  Distance to Loo from cities/regions of the Russian Federation on the highway:

  From Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of the European part of the Russian Federation, you can get along the M4-don toll Federal Highway with high-speed sections and good roadside infrastructure. The minimum cost of all paid sections will be from 1720 rubles when paying with a contactless transponder and travel at night on weekends. You can drive part of the way on a paid Road, and part on a free road. For all information about toll booths and payment procedures, see on the Rosavtodor website. You can drive the entire route on free roads, but then spend an additional few hours, because you have to go through settlements with traffic jams. From Samara, Kazan, Ufa and other cities to the east, you can drive on completely free roads through Volgograd.

  The worst section of the 150-kilometer route begins after Dzhubga. At the height of the tourist season, it can take up to 6 hours to overcome it, so if possible, plan its passage at night or early in the morning. Alternatively, you can go around the Dzhubga-Tuapse section through the Shahumyan pass, but this road is 75 kilometers longer, besides, you will have to drive 7 kilometers through the pass on a terribly dusty and uncomfortable gravel road. If you decide to go through the pass, then the decision to detour should be taken in Krasnodar or, in extreme cases, in Goryachy Klyuch, since later you can not turn off the detour.

  Going on vacation in Loo you probably have a question, Where to park a car for a long time. The streets in Loo are very narrow, everything is densely built up, so it will not be easy to find a free parking space, but it is possible. Most hotels, guest houses and private houses with housing for rent offer free parking space on their territory, which you can find out at the stage of selecting accommodation in the booking systems. If there is no parking or places are running out, you will probably be offered "your" place on the street within walking distance with the accommodation.

  Refueling in loo, as well as in other resorts of Greater Sochi is best at branded network gas stations Lukoil, Rosneft, Gazpromneft, they are widely represented here. There is no gas station directly in the center of loo, but just a couple of kilometers from the center there is Gazpromneft (towards Sochi) and Rosneft (towards Tuapse and Lazarevskoye). The price of gasoline, as usual in the South, is higher by 5-10% than in other regions of the European part of the Russian Federation.

Transport in Loo, what to use

Loo resort is small, the center is very compact, so it is most convenient to move around it on foot. If you need to get to the neighboring beaches or from the railway station to the hotel, you can use city buses or taxis.

City buses of Greater Sochi pass through the resort along the main Dekabristov street every 15-20 minutes, making stops at several stops within the loo. The fare is paid in cash or by bank card at the entrance to the driver.

You can order a taxi through the apps of aggregators Uber, Citymobil, Yandex.Taxi and local taxi apps, the cost of the trip starts from 69 rubles. There are also private cab drivers-bombers, they ask for a minimum of 100 rubles per trip.

There are not many attractions in Loo and its surroundings, and objectively speaking, there are enough fingers on one hand to list all the places of interest. But this is not a very big problem, because with excursions or on your own, you can easily visit many interesting places in the Lazarevsky district and in general the whole of Greater Sochi. The entertainment in Loo is a little better than the sights. On your own, you can visit the local water park and Dolphinarium, and with excursions you can make an extreme Jeep trip to the mountains, rafting, sea fishing and even diving at the local aquantis dive center. Independently during the day you can go to amusement parks in Lazarevskoye or in central Sochi.
