What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque – this is not just a mosque, but a whole Muslim complex for pilgrims and believers, including a shelter for pilgrims, a mausoleum and a cemetery. Today it is an architectural and historical landmark, and at the same time a functioning Muslim temple, and very important for believers, and a place of pilgrimage. It is believed that the history of the mosque dates back to 674. According to legend, during the Arab invasion of Cyprus in this place died Umm Haram (Umm Haram), one of the followers of the Prophet Muhammad. Here she was buried, and her mausoleum is at the base of the mosque. The mosque itself in its current form was built at the end of the XIX century.
If you decide to visit it, you can inspect the inside, but you need to adhere to the rules in clothing and behavior. If your clothes are unsuitable, then at the entrance you will be provided with a cape for free. It is best to visit it not separately, but during a trip to The Salt Lake, or on the walking route of Aphrodite's way around the lake.
