Huatanon Beach (Hau Thanon, Hua Thanon) is located to the south Lamai Beach in the chain of beaches in the east of Koh Samui (Huatanon beach on the map). Although geographically it starts immediately after rocks Grandma and Grandpa at the southern tip of Lamai, it is interrupted several more times by residential fishing areas, a Muslim village and other "troubles" that do not make this beach one of the cleanest and most pleasant for rest.

In general, the area and the beach are quite long, four kilometers, but not the entire beach strip is really suitable for swimming. In the north (closer to Lamai) Huatanon consists of several coves that could be just a wonderful place. But, unfortunately, the bottom here is muddy, the sand is coarse and not very pleasant, the tides far from the shore "take" the water boundary. And the cleanliness of the beaches is far from ideal, it is only necessary to move a little away from the hotel area, caring for its beach area and not caring at all about the neighboring territory. There are also a lot of boats and boats here, which also does not affect the cleanliness and beauty of the coast.

In the middle of the district there is a fishing Muslim village. This is an interesting place, but as a tourist attraction, not a beach place. The coast here is a terrible sight: fishing boats, garbage, dead fish and a terrible smell are everywhere.

After the village to the south, the beach continues again in the form of an extended strip. But even here its purity resembles the northern part. And in the same way, the beach is very much affected by low tides, and even at high tide you have to go very far from the shore to find the depth.

As for the area along the coast of Huatanon, it is most like a village, and only rare hotels and a couple of entertainment centers located here (this is the aquarium of Koh Samui and the tiger zoo, the butterfly garden) remind you that this is a tourist area. There are no shops, except small shops, here, cafes and restaurants are mostly attached to hotels, and there is absolutely nothing to do outside the hotel.

Summing up, we can say that Huatanon beach is suitable for those who are willing to sacrifice the cleanliness of the beaches and amenities for the sake of privacy and the opportunity to get to know the traditional village life of the island more closely. If you prefer a good beach and a well-developed tourist infrastructure, do not even go into this area.
