Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and the gateway to Southeast Asia. This is the 7 millionth traffic-laden metropolis with glittering shopping malls and towering skyscrapers. But this is only at first glance. If you take a closer look, then at the foot of the concrete jungle of skyscrapers you will find small old houses and countless temples. Indeed, Bangkok is a city of contrasts. And everything here is permeated with Buddhism.

In Bangkok you will not find a beach holiday, and you will be able to sunbathe only by the pool on the roof of the hotel. But without exploring Bangkok, a trip to Thailand will not be complete. If you are not traveling on your own, then among the abundance of tours offered by Russian tour operators, be sure to choose a tour with a visit to Bangkok for a couple of days. The price of such a tour will be only a few tens of dollars higher, and every dollar spent will be worth it. In addition, usually such tours already include a sightseeing tour of Bangkok, which includes a visit to some of its attractions.

Temples and historical sights are the hallmark of Bangkok. It is no exaggeration to say that Bangkok is simply dotted with the most beautiful and world-famous temples, many of which you probably know from movies or photos. Magnificent The Royal Palace of Bangkok is a place without which it is simply impossible to return home.

For entertainment lovers, there are several amusement parks in Bangkok and its surroundings. Bangkok's nightlife is unique in its charm. These are the countless restaurants in Chinatown that open at nightfall right on the sidewalks and roads, and the most modern sparkling discos, and a huge variety of all kinds of bars and entertainment venues.

Bangkok is a great place for shopping. In the most modern malls, the largest in Asia, you will find the most fashionable clothes, the most modern electronic equipment, the most interesting souvenirs. In countless private shops you will see the most delicate Thai silk, handicrafts, clothing, souvenirs, furnishings, antiques, paintings.

Pattaya is the most popular tourist resort city in Thailand, known all over the world. It is located on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, 160 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, in the province of Chonburi in the so-called Industrial Zone of the east coast of Thailand.

Sin City – Pattaya attracts tourists from all over the world with its go-go bars, night discos, adult shows, transvestite shows, street prostitution. But along with these vicious adult entertainment Pattaya has a lot of entertainment for the whole family: sports and water attractions, beaches, shopping malls, local markets, restaurants. Near the city there are beautiful orchid park in the botanical garden, crocodile and snake farms, temples, holy places and many more interesting and beautiful places.

There are a little more than 104,000 officially registered residents in the city (2010), while the real number of residents always exceeds 500,000 people due to tourists constantly staying there. Every year, Pattaya is visited by about six million tourists, a huge part of whom are Russian tourists, which is why locals and foreigners began to call the city "Pattaya city".

Going to Pattaya just for a beach holiday is not worth it. Of course there are beaches here, but they are located within the city limits and are far from ideal in their cleanliness. On the nearby islands, where you can swim by ferry at least every day, there are wonderful clean beaches.

The cost of a holiday in Pattaya is low compared to other popular resorts in Thailand. You can choose a hotel and entertainment here for every taste and budget. In general, Pattaya justifies its popularity one hundred percent and it is impossible to come up with a single reason against relaxing in this "Mecca" of tourism.

Pattaya is located near the capital, and getting there from Bangkok airport or from Bangkok itself is not difficult.

The small island of Ko Lan (Ko Lan, also Koh Larn, also coral island) is located 10 kilometers from the coast of Pattaya. This is the most popular island for day trips or trips to clean island beaches near Pattaya. The island is very tiny, only 4 and a half kilometers in length.

Koh Lan is rarely considered by tourists as an independent resort, but rather as an addition to Pattaya beaches or one of its attractions. Most often, tourists visit Koh Lan in the form of day trips or independent trips to its beaches, which are considered much cleaner than the city's Pattaya beaches. Less often, guests stay overnight on the island for one or two days or longer. Meanwhile, Koh Lan is a completely independent resort with its own infrastructure, beaches, hotels and attractions.

Phuket is the most popular resort in Thailand and the largest island in the country. Most of the island is covered with tropical forests, which, combined with waterfalls, parks, coconut plantations, makes Phuket an ideal place for beach holidays and jungle excursions.

For tourists, all the conditions that one can only wish for are created here. Accommodation is famous for its chic five-star hotels, but it will not be difficult for budget tourists to find an inexpensive secluded bungalow on the beach or a modest hotel room. The main reason why tourists go to this island is Phuket beaches. If you are looking for clean ideal beaches, wonderful beach landscapes for photos, and at the same time a lot of entertainment, then you are definitely here.

It is worth noting that Phuket, no matter how good it is, is still an island, and for a deeper acquaintance with the traditions, culture, lifestyle and history of the country you will have to get out of here to the mainland, which is not always convenient and cheap (the island is connected to land by a bridge). And in general, Phuket is considered a more expensive resort than other resorts in Thailand.

Koh Samui / Ko Samui

Koh Samui is a resort island. It is traditionally considered the "quietest" among the resort islands of Thailand, and at the same time competes in popularity with Phuket, another popular resort.

On Koh Samui, lush green vegetation and magnificent snow-white beaches create the image of a fabulous island, a tropical paradise. But unlike Phuket, this is an idyllic world of peace and quiet, silence and romantic solitude. The beaches here are sparsely populated and naturally decorated with coconut palms, all as on advertising booklets. Coconut palms, by the way, are the business card of the island, and the main income of local residents. This is one of the best places for a secluded and relaxing beach holiday. And around there are several other small islands, where the rest can be even more secluded.

The infrastructure for tourists on Koh Samui is quite developed. There are a large number of hotels of any price category. Guests of the island have the opportunity to visit a giant aquarium, a butterfly garden, a snake farm and an elephant show. For active and youth recreation, there are many bars, restaurants, and nightclubs on the isolated Chaweng Beach. Open-air discos are held.

Phangan Island in Thailand (also Phangan, English Ko Pha Ngan / Koh Phangan) is one of the popular tourist islands in the Gulf of Thailand in Thailand. Phangan is very close to its more popular and slightly larger neighbor – Koh Samui. Both islands are separated by only 8 kilometers, and Phangan is about 45 kilometers from the mainland. Phangan is one and a half times smaller than Koh Samui's neighbor and almost four times smaller than Phuket Island.

Russian tourists rarely consider the island of Phangan as an independent resort, but rather look at it as an addition to a holiday on Koh Samui, from where "outings" in the form of excursions are made to Phangan. Tourist vouchers to the island of Phangan from Russia are not very widely represented. Nevertheless, it is a full-fledged independent resort with its own characteristics and an atmosphere different from other resorts in Thailand. Especially popular among young people.

If you are a lover of a good rest at any time of the day (including at night), then this is the perfect place to relax. Phangan is famous for its beach parties, which traditionally take place on the new moon, that is, once a month, at Had Rin Beach. At this time, crowds of young people flock here, and the "Full Moon Party" is listed among all the most famous parties in the world.

Tao Island (Ko Tao, also Koh Tao, also Turtle Island) is a popular tourist island in Thailand in the Gulf of Thailand. It is located near Koh Samui and Phangan. It is quite small, only 7 kilometers in maximum diameter, and looks like a real crumb compared to its famous neighbors, the island of Phangan and Koh Samui. However, it can offer tourists something that its large neighbors will not offer: the island is popular among tourists as one of the best places in Thailand for diving, and is also attractive for a wonderful beach holiday.

The tourist infrastructure here is well developed, allows you to spend at least the whole vacation. It is also visited as part of an excursion for diving and snorkeling for a day or several, most often from the neighboring islands of Koh Samui and Phangan.

There are dive centers on Koh Tao that make it possible to provide a tourist or a simple lover of underwater travel with all the necessary equipment. Well, those who are not ready for diving yet will still be able to explore the underwater life around the island with the help of snorkeling. The water around the island is very clear most of the year, the visibility for snorkeling is just great.

Krabi is not an island at all, as travel agencies mistakenly call this resort. In fact, it is a whole province with many resorts and small resort islands. This is a relatively new, developing resort. There are not a lot of tourists here yet, it's not easy to get here, and there are not so many beaches. However, this place is more than worth a visit. There are national parks Than Bokkharani, Khao Phanom Bencha, caves Tham Phra Nang Nok, Tham Sua (known as the "tiger cave").

They rest here mainly at beach resorts Ao Nang and Railay, or stay for a few days in Krabi Town. The popular islands of Phi Phi and Lanta are also located in the province.

Lanta Island / Ko Lanta

Ko Lanta

- beach holidays
- attractions and excursions
- entertainment and night rest
- shopping
- affordable
- transport accessibility

Koh Lanta is located in Krabi province in the south of the country (Lanta on the map). In fact, the island of Lanta includes a whole group of 52 islands, the largest of which are Ko Lanta Noi (small Lanta) and Ko Lanta Yai (big Lanta). From a tourist point of view, the most important is Ko Lanta Yai (big Lanta), where the tourist infrastructure is located, and it is he who is meant when talking about Lanta as a resort.

Koh Lanta is popular with tourists as a place of beach holidays, excellent diving and snorkeling. Unlike other tourist destinations in the province of Krabi, including the most famous island of Phi Phi, Lanta is distinguished by tranquility, silence and open spaces. There is a much smaller concentration of noisy bars and discos and very long beaches, which are just nice to walk and admire the scenery. Therefore, the guests of the island are mostly older people and families with children.

However, this does not mean that you will die of boredom here. In fact, nothing like that, and the island has a full set of infrastructure and entertainment for tourists. You can find bars and discos, active entertainment and even simple shopping, you just need to know where to look.

Phi Phi (Koh Phi-Phi, also Pi-pi) is a group of six islands in the province of Krabi in the waters of the Andaman Sea (archipelago on the map). Usually, when tourists talk about Phi Phi, they most often mean not completely the archipelago, but specifically the island of Phi Phi Don. Indeed, Phi Phi Don is the only one in the archipelago that is a full-fledged resort with its own infrastructure, beaches, and a large number of hotels.

This is a real paradise where the best for recreation is combined: beautiful sandy beaches, clear turquoise water, sun all year round, free youth atmosphere. But do not think that since this is a remote small island, a rustic atmosphere reigns here – rather the opposite. In the main village and the center of Ton Sai Island, noisy parties do not subside until late at night, progressive rhythms can be heard from bars and discos on the beaches. If this is not enough, you can arrange your party right on the beach, there will always be plenty of people willing to join you. If the noisy nightlife is not for you, and you want to enjoy the peace and quiet, this is not a problem: you can choose places to relax on remote beaches.

You can spend your entire vacation here, or spend only a few days. It will be much more interesting if you diversify your trip with a stop at other resorts in the province of Krabi. For example, you can spend half of your vacation on the mainland of the province, where you can get acquainted with the natural sights of Krabi, and the other half on Pi-Pi. You can also combine PhiPhi with a vacation in Phuket.

Chiang Mai is the second largest and most important city in Thailand after Bangkok. It is located far to the north, 800 km from Bangkok in the Inthanon Mountains. It was founded in 1296 as the capital of the principality of Lannatai, which only in the XX century became part of Thailand. You can compare Chiang Mai with St. Petersburg. Similarly, it is the cultural capital for Thais, and it is also located in the north. And it is definitely worth a visit.

The city is famous for ancient temples, mountain landscapes and folk festivals. It organically combines the convenience of a modern city and rich cultural and architectural traditions; in the vicinity of which the most modern highways coexist with numerous tribes and nationalities that have their own distinctive culture, which did not experience a noticeable influence of civilization until the 20th century.

You can get here by plane from Bangkok in 1 hour. By land, you can get there by bus or train in 8-10 hours.

Chang Rai was founded in 1262 as the capital of the kingdom of Lanna. Later, the capital was moved to Chang Mai. Currently, Chiang Rai is considered one of the most developing cities in Thailand.

Chiang Rai is located far in the north of the country, nearby (about 200 kilometers) from crossing the borders of Thailand, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos, or the world-famous "The Golden Triangle". The city and the province are attractive for their sights and monuments of antiquity. Mountains rise around the city, on the slopes of which local tribes still live. It is also easy to get to Laos and Myanmar from here.

All conditions have been created and are developing for tourists here, but this place is not very popular with Russian tourists. Mostly the city is visited by local wealthy tourists.

Koh Chang Island or Chang (Thai for "co" - island) is located 300 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, near the border with Cambodia, and is the second largest island in Thailand after Phuket. This place is quite a popular holiday destination for tourists from all over the world, as well as residents of Thailand.

Largely untouched by modern civilization, Koh Chang has retained its charm. The locals still live a quiet, measured life, mainly due to fishing, fruit growing and rubber cultivation. Therefore, here you can get very close to the culture and way of life of ordinary provincial Thai residents. Chang Island has become popular among tourists due to its snow-white beaches, rich nature untouched by tourists and a diverse underwater world. Many tourists are attracted to rest on the island also by its remoteness from civilization.

The gentle slopes of the mountains give me the opportunity to try myself in mountain tourism and hiking even for unprepared tourists. Excursions on the island are no longer aimed at visiting man-made attractions, but at exploring the natural resources of the island. This includes visiting waterfalls and caves, walking along the sea to uninhabited islands, getting acquainted with the life of fishing villages, jungle walks and elephant rides.

Due to the large number of underwater inhabitants and coral reefs surrounding the island, it is also a great place for diving. In the season, visibility under water reaches 30 meters.

Getting to Chang Island by land will not be difficult. There are many intercity bus services from Bangkok and other major cities of the country to Trat, and it is easy to get from Trat to Chang by ferry. There are also direct flights organized from tourist places by tourist buses to the island.

The oldest resort in Thailand is located 198 km south of Bangkok, on the western coast of the Gulf of Thailand. The resort is known for its long beach, fenced off from a small fishing village by a small rock. The beach stretches for three kilometers to the south – up to the Buddhist temples. The small village became famous after King Rama VII built his summer palace here. It is called Klai Kangwun, which means "Away from the hustle and bustle" in Thai. This is exactly how you can still characterize your vacation at this resort. And now the royal family spends part of their time here once a year.

This place is a popular holiday destination for both Thais and foreign tourists. The entire tourist coast is abundantly covered with tropical greenery, and the hotels are separated by a large distance, which makes the rest even more isolated and peaceful. Hotels here are mostly of a high level, with their own territory, and, accordingly, expensive. Here is one of the largest golf courses in Thailand.

Of course, Hua Hin is not the best place for active youth looking for travel and entertainment, but rather a place of rest for tired businessmen. But even here you can find something to do: there are picturesque caves nearby, you can visit one of the nearby villages; Hua Hin night Market is very interesting for tourists; you can go to the nearby Sam Roi Yot National Park. Water sports and other activities are organized on the beaches.

Samet is a small island 200 km south of Bangkok. As a rule, the island is visited by tourists who spend most of their holidays in Pattaya.

The island got its name because of the eponymous name of a special tree that grows on the island and is used in medicine and in the construction of boats.

The island is very small, only a few kilometers around the perimeter, and it can be easily explored on foot. In the northern part of the island there is a fishing village and a monastery with a temple, in the west and in the eastern part there is a national nature reserve.

The island is a paradise for lovers of untouched nature and those who want to spend a few days away from civilization. There are no night entertainment and noisy discos, but there are several restaurants and bars on the beach where you can enjoy a wonderful view while dining on the beach. You can explore the coral formations along the west coast and the neighboring islands of Talu and Man Nai, explore mountain trails by jeep or bike, go ocean fishing. The hotels here are not chic, but they have everything you need for a relaxing holiday.

If your trip or vacation is limited to staying in Bangkok and Pattaya, be sure to visit the island for at least a day or two to feel complete unity with nature.

This is a brand new resort located 180 kilometers south of Bangkok on the coast. The magnificent beaches of Rayong stretch for 100 kilometers along the Gulf of Thailand, and thousands of tourists from all over the world rest here every year. Many hotels and bungalows have been built along the coast. Local beaches are considered one of the most beautiful in Thailand, and the landscape consists of mountain ranges, plains, forests. There are also many plantations of rubber and fruit trees, fishing villages, small bays and inlets. This place is also considered one of the best in the country for diving because of the clear and calm water.

Rayong can be recommended to those tourists who do not want to get too far from the capital, and at the same time tired or unwilling to relax in a noisy and depraved Pattaya. Rayong is located, by the way, very close to Pattaya and if you want to have fun at any time, you can go to the "city of sins".

The new and rapidly developing beach resort Cha Am is located 173 km southwest of Bangkok near Hua Hin. First of all, it is focused on a relaxing family vacation. It is worth going here if you want to enjoy the beauty of nature, silence and a relaxing holiday.

The magnificent sandy beaches of Cha Am stretch for many kilometers. Untouched coral reefs are hidden under the water. The ideal picture of the beach is completed by palm groves, including pineapple. Unlike the more expensive Hua Hin, located next door to the south on the same coast, the hotels here are more democratic. Here you can find a world-class hotel, and a very simple and cheap bungalow. To please tourists, water activities are organized on the beach: catamaran rides, yachts and jet skis, surfing. There are also many activities on land: horseback riding and elephant riding, tennis, golf and much more.

Lopburi is a city in Thailand, 150 kilometers north of Bangkok, a popular tourist destination and tourist attraction. The city is quite small (population 54 thousand people), and is the capital of the province of the same name.

Lopburi is rarely visited as an independent destination for the whole vacation, there is simply nothing to do here if you spend a few days. Usually they come here for one or two days, or even inspect it on their way. However, there is a lot to see in the city. After all, this is the ancient capital of Siam and one of the most ancient cities in Thailand (it is believed that it was founded before the 7th century).

The main attractions of the city are the temples and ancient ruins located in the old town. It is impossible to say that they represent something super outstanding. Everything is very similar to Ayutthaya, only in smaller quantities and on a smaller scale, but still there is something to see. But most of all, tourists are attracted here by the presence of a large number of monkeys. The city is simply overrun with crab-eating macaques, who, for the amusement of tourists, "terrorized" the whole city, and especially the old part of it. Monkeys feel like real masters here, and tourists also get into trouble from them.

Ko Kut Island (Ko Kut, Koh Kood) is an island in the Gulf of Thailand in the province of Trat near the border with Cambodia. It is part of the Chang Archipelago (Koh Chang), is a popular tourist destination. Almost the entire territory is covered with jungle, the terrain is slightly hilly with a highest point of 315 meters.

Kood Island is still considered one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand. They come here primarily for a beach and relaxing holiday. There is no evening entertainment on the island, but it is a real paradise island. The infrastructure here is poorly developed, but it is quite sufficient for a relaxing holiday. You can go diving, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, trekking in the jungle to waterfalls and just wallow all day in a hammock stretched between palm trees or walk from one beach to another. The sights here are only of a natural nature: waterfalls, jungles, wildlife, underwater life.

Ayutthaya (also Ayutthaya, Ayutthaya, Muay Ayutthaya, English Ayutthaya, full name Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya) is the ancient capital of Thailand, and currently a modern city 75 kilometers north of Thailand.

Ayutthaya is one of the most significant attractions in Thailand. In 1991, the city was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Many travelers compare this place with the temples Angkor in terms of architecture and historical significance, although the scale and age of the ruins here, of course, are not as impressive as in Cambodia.

The city of Ayutthaya itself is not very popular among tourists as an independent resort, and is most often visited as a separate attraction – the ancient capital of Thailand. In general, the tourist infrastructure of the city allows you to spend a few days here, immersed in exploring the sights, although it (infrastructure) is not very diverse.

O. Koh Lipe / Koh Lipe

- beach holidays
- attractions and excursions
- entertainment and night rest
- shopping
- affordable
- transport accessibility

Koh Lipe Island in Thailand (Koh Lipe, also Ko Lipe) is located in the south of the Andaman Sea, in Satun Province (Koh Lipe on the map of Thailand). It is the southernmost island of the state. On a clear day from here you can see the Malaysian archipelago of Langkawi, 30 kilometers away. The island is very tiny, from one end of it to the other only 3 kilometers.

Ko Lipe is a kind of standard of a paradise beach holiday in the style of "bounty" in Thailand. There are few tourists here yet, the place is not spoiled (although it is becoming more developed and crowded every year). Therefore, the main thing why tourists go here is a relaxing beach holiday. Also, people often go to Koh Lipa to explore underwater life, both with diving and snorkeling. Equipment can be found for rent here. There are many more small islands around, where you can go snorkeling or diving with an organized tour, or live on one of them as a "savage" in a tent. Another of the entertainments is fishing: representatives of almost a quarter of all tropical fish species of the world live in the vicinity of the island.

There is only one main walking street here. On it you can find a currency exchange office, souvenir shops, cafes, post office, pharmacy, travel agencies. But everything here is quite expensive, and the exchange rate is extremely unprofitable, so for thrifty tourists it is best to buy everything you need and change money on the mainland. There is no ATM here. Some hotels accept plastic cards, and also offer to cash out money from your bank card for a commission, which turns out to be extremely unprofitable. You can change both dollars and Malaysian ringgits at the exchange office, which is convenient if you come from Langkawi Island. There is Internet on the island: Wi-Fi is available in many hotels, there is an Internet cafe.

There are quite a lot of bars and restaurants on the island, located within 200 meters from the sea or right on the beach. This is the main evening entertainment on the island, there are no discos and nightclubs here.

There are no attractions on Koh Lipa, except for its beaches, nature and a small Buddhist temple.

Chumphon City (also Chumpon, Chumporn, Chumphon, Chumporn) is a small town in the south of Thailand, the capital of Chumphon province. The city and province can be geographically attributed to central Thailand, but still the atmosphere, population, traditions and cuisine are more similar to the Muslim south, although, of course, to a much lesser extent than the southernmost provinces. Chumphon is considered the beginning of the south of the country. The city is located 500 kilometers south of Bangkok on the east coast, washed by the waters of the Gulf of Thailand (Chumphon on the map of Thailand).

Although Chumphon is not a popular tourist destination, this city is always on the ear of tourists, especially independent travelers. The fact is that this is a transshipment point on the way between the capital and the southern resorts. Tourists visit the city especially often, whose goal is the island of Tao, Phangan, and sometimes Koh Samui. It is here that a transfer is made from a train or bus to ferries or high-speed catamarans to these islands. Although it is worth noting that it is faster and cheaper to get to Koh Samui and Phangan via Surat Thani, although it turns out to be a small detour.

As an independent tourist destination, Chumphon is not very popular among tourists. This is an ordinary Thai provincial town. Even a major transport hub, it can only be called a stretch, despite its importance on the way to the aforementioned islands. There is no entertainment here, the city falls asleep early in the evenings. Nevertheless, even here you can meet vacationing Europeans, tourist infrastructure, hotels. You will hardly meet mass tourists on vouchers here, but independent travelers who want to discover new places, little-known to mass tourists, stop here. And, by the way, the beaches of Chumpon are quite a popular holiday destination for local residents. The result of this state of affairs is lower prices for tourist services, accommodation and meals than at other popular resorts in Thailand.

Kanchanaburi (Kanchanaburi) is a city and province of the same name in central Thailand, west of Bangkok (Kanchanaburi on the map of Thailand). Both the city and the province are popular sightseeing tourist destinations. This region has gained particular popularity because of the famous railway bridge over the River Kwai located here, built during World War II by Western prisoners of war captured by the Japanese. The province is also considered one of the most beautiful in the central part of Thailand. There are several national parks here at once; the largest and most beautiful waterfall in Thailand – Erawan; caves; several waterfalls; hot radon springs; elephant parks where you can ride these animals through the jungle, or take care of them.
