Description and is it worth a visit
The Statue of the Big Buddha of Phuket is located on Naka Kerd Mountain at an altitude of 370 meters in the southern part of the island. This is a relatively new attraction, and it is still being completed. Despite this, the place is already open to the public and there are always a lot of tourists here.
The height of the statue is 45 meters and it is perfectly visible from the open spaces on the southern beaches. Today it is one of the most popular and large-scale attractions of Phuket. Almost no sightseeing tour of Phuket is not complete without check-in here, and we also recommend that you visit this place.
There is something to see here, because a temple is attached to the statue, which is also still under construction, as well as an observation deck from which you can view the island 360 degrees from a bird's-eye view (recall, the statue is located at an altitude of 370 meters). The size of the statue is impressive, as are the views from above, but it is important to get here in good clear weather, and then you will be able to see not only Phuket itself, but also the surrounding islands.
The Big Buddha is not just a landmark, but a sacred place, and therefore you need to visit it appropriately dressed, i.e., as in any Thai temple, mini-skirts, open shoulders, shorts are not allowed. If you arrive here dressed inappropriately, you can get a cape for free at the entrance for the duration of the visit. Since this is a functioning temple, no money is charged for admission. But if you want to donate money for the construction of the temple, you can do it in a very pleasant and interesting way: you can buy a stone, which will then be used for the construction of the temple; to tell fortunes; to receive a blessing from a monk, etc.
Enterprising Thais quickly realized the prospects of this attraction, and therefore along the road to the top to the temple there were many additional attractions and entertainment for tourists: elephant parks, bird park, quad bike safaris, etc.
