Description and is it worth a visit
Two picturesque hills Khao Kanab Nam with a height of 100 meters are one of the business cards of Krabi Town and the province as a whole. Their view adorns the horizon towards the Krabi River from almost any point of the city promenade.
But you can not only look at these rocks from the embankment, but also visit them. This is one of the simplest and most popular excursions and attractions for tourists staying in the provincial capital – Krabi-town. If you are staying at another resort in the province, you should not go here to see this attraction, in our opinion: there are more interesting places in Krabi. In addition, there are so many tourists here in the high season that even boats are stuck in traffic jams to moor to the shore on which the rocks are located.
There are caves inside the mountains, a particularly interesting one of which is the one to which all tourists are taken. It is well equipped for visiting, and an entrance fee of 30 baht is charged. It is notable not only for its bizarre formations – stalactites and stalagmites, but also for the fact that excavations were carried out here, during which many human skeletons, ancient utensils, and rock carvings were discovered. According to one version, a whole tribe died here, who chose this cave as their place of residence, but during a severe flood people were trapped and died right in their house. This is told by a small exhibition in the cave in the form of imitations of skeletons, pottery shards, models of ancient people, as well as archaeologists. If you are here with a guided tour, the guide will tell you in detail about these events. Also in one of the caves you can see a huge number of bats. If desired, you can even climb to the top of the mountain.
Some of the excursions to the mountains also include: walking along or along the mangroves; landing in a traditional fishing village, where you can see how fish are grown in artificial reservoirs, but in a natural environment, and taste this fish in a restaurant on the water; visiting monkey beach, where tourists are not dropped off, but swim close enough so that you can see how they bathe and rage.
🕐 Working hours
Around the clock, visited in the daytime.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price
The entrance to the cave costs 30 baht (but the ushers are not always in place, you can pass for free). Excursions from 500 baht for an hour walk and from 800 for two hours.
🚶 How to get there
Access to the rocks and caves is possible only by boat from the Chao Fa Pier (Khao Kanab Nam rocks on the map), which is located next to the embankment (on the left, if you look from the city to the river), and to which In turn, it is easy to get from almost any hotel in Krabi Town on foot. Right at the pier or at the hotel, you can buy an excursion to the rocks and caves (cheaper at the pier), and immediately go. But it is even cheaper to arrange a boat trip with local boaters directly. For example, for an hour walk you can negotiate from 400 baht per boat, but you need to bargain. However, in this case you will be left without excursion service in English.
