Description and is it worth a visit
Maha Chai Village (Maha Chai, Mahachai) does not apply to Bangkok, it is generally a different province of Samut Sakhon (Samut Sakhon). However, this is not a resort, but a one-day attraction, and it is visited most often in the form of a one-day independent trip or an organized tour from Bangkok.
Makhachai is one of the largest fishing centers in Thailand, although, rather, it is even a city. It is famous for the large fish market Talay Thai Market and many fresh seafood restaurants. But the restaurants here are not at all what tourists are used to in tourist places. Here these are small cafes for locals, but the seafood is very fresh, and they are cooked right in front of you.
In addition to the market, here you can plunge into the life of a real provincial Thailand, not yet spoiled by tourists. You can walk around the village, see its provincial temples, take a ferry to the other side of the Tha Chin River, which divides the village. Well, it's definitely worth eating plenty of the freshest seafood, freshly unloaded from fishing boats and grilled. Dried fish is also sold everywhere here, but for some reason the prices for it are much higher than in Bangkok.
However, in fact, few tourists stay in Makhachai, and usually use it simply as a place to transfer by train to the village of Mae Khlong village, where there is an even more interesting market on the railway. The fact is that in Makhachai the railway ends, and on the other side of the Tha Chin River another line leading to Mae Khlong begins. To get on this line, you need to walk a few minutes to the Mahachai Pier pier, from where the ferry very often goes to the other side for 3 baht. On the other side of the river, you will need to walk another 5 minutes to Ban Laem railway station.

🚶 How to get there
The village of Maha Chai is located 40 kilometers from Bangkok in the southwest (Maha Chai village on the map). You can get here by bus from Sai Tai Mai South bus terminal, but it's best to go there and back by train, because this is the whole interest of the trip.
A separate line of the WongwianYai-MahaChai Line railway has been laid from Bangkok to Maha Chai. It starts at the railway station Wongwian Yai Railway Station (station on the map), and trains leave from it only to Maha Chai, and nowhere else. To get to the station from other areas of Bangkok, you can take the SkyTrain subway to Wongwian Yai Station, and walk a little.
Trains to Maha Chai depart on schedule, cost 10 baht, and travel a little less than an hour. In the village arrive at the terminal station Maha Chai. Here the railway ends, and on the other side of the river there is another station and the railway line BanLaem-MaeKlong Line to Mae Khlong village begins.
