Gudauta is a traditional calm beach resort of the Black Sea. Like most other small resort villages of Abkhazia, it is in desolation and is not very beautiful: roads and sidewalks are broken, the city park is abandoned, buildings are dilapidated. But rest in Gudauta has its advantages. First of all, the situation here is calm, almost rustic, there are very few vacationers even at the height of the season. After the bustling tourist-and transport-packed Gagra, Pitsunda or Sukhum, Gudauta is just a real corner of tranquility. If you do not need entertainment, excursions, comfortable living conditions in a hotel room, developed tourist infrastructure, then this resort may suit you.
The beach in Gudauta is not bad, and also has its advantages. As already mentioned, there are very few tourists on it, but there are umbrellas, sun beds, changing cabins, and several cafes along the coastline and a bar on the beach itself. The beach is Sandy and pebbly: pebbles at the water's edge and under water; sand further from the shore, large and gray. What is still good, the beach is almost not disfigured by Rusty concrete structures and breakwaters, as in other resorts of Abkhazia. There is no stationary entertainment, only at the height of the season there can be banana riding, parasailing, and jet ski rental. But their appearance depends entirely on the number of tourists in the season, so it may well not be. The water is clear, but the coastal strip is not cleaned often, garbage accumulates.
The tourist infrastructure in the town itself is very poorly developed. In fact, apart from a couple of dozen accommodation options and a few cafes, there is nothing more tourist. Entertainment except the beach, too,no.
There are no attractions in Gudauta, unless you consider as such an unkempt park and several monuments preserved from the Soviet era. There is also the Museum of the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia (opened in 2018), the Abgaziya Museum and the Ambar Museum. By taxi, you can take a bus to New Athos and see the sights there, visit tskuara hot springs. Theoretically, during the day you can go to Sukhum and Gagra, but there is not much to see there. On your own transport you can go to more interesting places, including visiting Ritsa Reserve and Lake Ritsa, and other attractions of Abkhazia. If you do not have your own transport, you can buy a group tour, but only during the high season.
Hotels in Gudauta, where to stay
You can stay in Gudauta in hotels, guest houses (guest houses) or in private apartments.
