Pong Phra Bat Waterfall is a small waterfall in the immediate vicinity of Chiang Rai on the territory of Lamnamkom National Park, and it is unlikely to surprise you with its scale and scope. It is quite small, the height of its main threshold is at most two meters. But interesting here is not only and not so much the waterfall itself, as the path to it, which passes through the rainforest of the protected national park. Moreover, unusually, the entrance here is free. After all, in most other national parks of Thailand, the entrance for foreigners is 200-300 baht. It is convenient to visit it together with hot Springs Pong Phra Bat Hot Springs because they are close to each other in the same direction of the road.
Well, this waterfall is not very popular among tourists, so you may find yourself here all alone. In a natural pool in the river, you can wet your feet or even swim, although as far as we know, swimming here is not particularly welcomed by the reserve administration, after all, it is a nature conservation area. But if you still really want to buy, then this is allowed at the bottom at the beginning of the route, there is even a specially equipped area for this.
The trail to the waterfall is an equipped light tourist route with a length of 1200 meters. It runs along the stream on which the waterfall is formed, all the way up. It's not difficult to walk, we passed it in one breath for 30 minutes. Sports shoes are very desirable. Of course, if you really want, you can walk in slippers or sandals, but you will have to go through the roots of trees and over rocks.

🚶 How to get there
Pong Phra Bat Waterfall is located about 20 kilometers by road from the center of Chiang Rai (Pong Phra Bat waterfall on the map). You can only get there by your own transport, public transport does not go here. To get there, drive from Chiang Rai on Highway No. 1 to the northeast (towards the Golden Triangle) to the village of Ban Du and turn left to it. After two and a half kilometers there will be Pong Phra Bat hot springs, here you will need to turn right. Five kilometers after them, the road will end in a parking lot in front of the office of the rangers of the Lamnamkom reserve. Transport can be left here for free. At the entrance to the route, you need to register in the visitors' log, and then follow the signs and the trail 1200 meters to the waterfall, which will take 30-60 minutes.
