There are several ways to get from Don Mueang Airport to the center of Bangkok, but one of the cheapest is to take the train. Directly opposite the exit from the airport through the covered passage is the Don Muang Railway Station, from where at least 10 trains a day, including night flights, depart almost to the very center of Bangkok to the Hualamphong railway station. These trains are something like our electric trains with seats, called Commuter Train. They are on the road for a little less than an hour, and cost only 5 baht!!! Tickets are purchased at the box office, no need to book in advance.

In addition, you can take the train from Don Muang not only to the center of Bangkok, but also to other cities north of Bangkok, for example, to Ayutthaya, Lopburi, Pitsanulok and even Chiang Mai, pravdva not all trains stop near the airport, so study the schedule. No trains run from here in the direction of Kanchanaburi, they depart only from Thonburi station.
Train schedule can be found here railway.co.th. Enter the point of departure (Origin) – Don Mueang, destination (Destination) – Bangkok, click Check, and get the entire list of trains and the time of departure / arrival.
Trains arrive at Bangkok Hualamphong railway station, where you can transfer to the city metro and get to the desired location in the city (see Bangkok Metro). The area Chinatown is nearby, walking distance to it. However, if you need to get to the most popular tourist Khaosan Road area, you will have to take a taxi or bus, because you can't get to it by metro or on foot.
On the way to the center, most trains also make several stops, which allows you to get off not at Hualamphong station, of course, but earlier. You can find out if a particular train stops by clicking on the train number in the list of trains on the schedule page (see above).
For example, if you need to get to Pratunam district, Siam or other places where the metro goes, you can get to of course, or get off at Bang Sue Junction station, which is located nearby with Chatuchak market and Morchit north bus station. By the way, from this bus station you can immediately go to other cities in Thailand (more about Mor Chit here). If you need to transfer to the SkyTrain skytrain here, you will have to walk a little way around the park.
You can also get off at Ramathibodhi Hospital or Sam Sen station. Not all trains stop at these stations, especially at Ramathibodhi Hospital, check the timetable as above. Further from Ramathibodhi Hospital to Victory Monument you can walk one and a half kilometers, or from both stations you can get to Victory Monument by city bus at a cost of 8 baht. There are a lot of bus routes from these stations to Victory Monument very often, you can check the number from passers-by or the driver / conductor before boarding.
