Description of the Thonburi railway station in Bangkok and how it is useful
Thonburi Railway Station (Thonburi Train Station, aka Bangkok Noi Station) serves trains of the Western Line (Western Line or Short Line), namely, trains in Kanchanaburi Province. Currently, only two daily trains to Kanchanaburi Province depart from the station at 07:50 and 13:55. The journey takes three hours, the cost is 100 baht (3 USD, see all about Thailand's money and exchange rate). Tickets are purchased immediately before departure, there is no need to buy in advance.
You can check the current schedule here - www.railway.co.th/checktime/.
There are no facilities at the station except waiting benches and a toilet. Nearby (across the street) there is a market where you can eat inexpensively.
How to get to Thonburi railway station
The station is very inconveniently located (Thonburi Train Station on the map of Bangkok) and it is not easy to get to it by public transport.

By taxi
It is most convenient to get there by taxi, but you should not use tuk-tuks or trips at a negotiated price. Use a taxi with a meter (Metered Taxi) or order cars through the Grab, taxi-Maxim, InDrive app. Uber in Thailand does not work. Taxi rides in Bangkok are inexpensive, and sometimes it's even cheaper to get a group by car than by metro. In addition, there is also a motorcycle taxi, which is almost twice as cheap as a car ride. The cost of a taxi ride for a landmark:
- From the district Khao San Road from 100 baht to Thonburi station (3 USD).
- From the district Pratunam from 200 baht to Thonburi station (6 USD).

By river transport
The easiest way to get from the tourist area of Khao San and other areas along the Chao Phraya River is by river transport.
A kilometer from the station is the Thorbury Railway Station Pier, where all regular boats plying the Chaopraya River stop (see more about Bangkok's water transport). That is, you can get here by any boat going along the river, the main thing is not to confuse the direction of movement. The fare costs from 9 to 20 baht. Just do not confuse: we are talking about boats on the Chaopraya River, and not about boats that ply the canals. There is no way to get here by canal boats.
If you need to get here from the tourist area of Khao San Road, then the nearest pier from which boats depart for Thonbury Pier is called Phra Arthit. You can reach it with a light backpack on foot, or take a taxi. You can also get to this pier by river ferry from the other side of the river for just 3 baht. The ferry departs from Grand Royal Palace.
From the Thorbury Railway Station Pier to the station itself, you will need to walk another kilometer, or take a taxi or tuk tuk. You should not pay more than 30 baht for a tuk-tuk ride. If you go on foot, then you will need to go straight from the pier, and as soon as you pass under the automobile bridge, turn right and immediately turn left along the railway, which will lead you to the station.

By metro
Update. Now, just a 10-minute walk from Thonburi Station, the Jaran Sanitwong underground Meter railway station has appeared. It can be easily reached by Bangkok Metro from almost any area of Bangkok, except the historical and Khao San Road district. It is easier to get from the historic district and Khao San Road by boat or ferry along the Chaopraya River, as written above.
Unfortunately, the metro bypassed this area, so you will have to get there with a transfer by river transport. Take the metro to Saphan Taksin station (see all about Bangkok Metro). There is also the Sathorn Pier on the Chaopraya River, where you can board any regular boat for 9-20 baht to the Thorbury Railway Station Pier. You need to get on the boat, which goes to the right, if you look from the pier to the river.
