Yalta, along with all the suburbs and resort villages, is a huge resort, and it is not surprising that at first glance my head is spinning from the total number and variety of attractions and excursions that can be visited here. Of course, during a standard vacation lasting 7-14 days, you will not be able to see everything, because you will still need to sunbathe and swim in the sea. Therefore, we have prepared a TOP-10 list of attractions and excursions that are worth visiting from Yalta in the first place:
Yalta embankment
Lenin Embankment or simply Yalta embankment is the main place for walking around the city and the most hangout place. It is here that all the tourist fun takes place, and it is here that the spirit of the resort capital of Crimea is felt like nowhere else. Both in the afternoon and in the evening something happens here, but especially a lot of things in the evening: attractions work; rental of children's bicycle and electric cars, bicycles, roller skates and gyroscuters; offer to take pictures in the embrace of full-length dolls; local artists exhibit their works and street performers give performances. Learn more about Yalta embankment here.
Practical Information
🕐 Working hours: around the clock, walking is best in the evening.
💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: free.
🚶 How to get there: the embankment is located in the center of Yalta and stretches from the pier and Lenin Square to the beginning of the city beach for almost a kilometer (embankment on the map). You can get here from other areas by any city bus. If you come to Yalta from the suburbs to the bus station, then you can also get from there by any city bus or trolleybus.
Nikitsky Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden was founded in 1812, i.e. more than 200 years. Today there is a scientific center for horticulture and botany, but the park areas are open for inspection by everyone. It includes several gardens and parks at once, so sometimes there is a little confusion with what to visit and see here. At the time of writing, the garden includes: Arboretum (Arboretum) – this is the main part of the park, where tourists most often visit; Montedor Park (also includes a cactus greenhouse and the Paradise Garden exposition); Seaside Amusement Park; Cape Martyan Nature Reserve. Read more about Nikitsky Botanical Garden here.
Practical Information
🕐 Working hours: from 08:00 to 18:00 (ticket office until 17:00).

You can get here from Yalta by buses No. 129 and No.130, trolleybus No. 42 directly to the entrance to the park, or by trolleybuses No. 41, 52, 53, or buses No. 106, 131, 381 to Nikita bus stop on Yuzhnoberezhnoye Highway, and then on foot (25 minutes).
Vorontsov Palace
The Vorontsov Palace was built for a very long time, from 1828 to 1848, by the Governor-General of the Novorossiysk Territory, Count M. S. Vorontsov. The English architect Edward Blore worked on the project, and, interestingly, he did it remotely, never arriving at the construction site.
Today there is a museum in the palace, and there is a beautiful landscaped park around it, where you can walk for free. Many tourists, by the way, come here and are limited only to viewing the park, and leave satisfied. And this is one of the reasons why it is worth visiting the palace and the park on your own, without an excursion group tour, so as not to be tied in time to tourist transport. In general, ideally, you should come here from Yalta or another city for a whole day, take a walk in the park and take a tour of the palace, and finish the day on the beach. Read more about the Vorontsov Palace here.

If you come by private car, you will have to pay 300 rubles for parking in front of the palace.
Swallow's Nest
Castle "Swallow's Nest" is the most famous symbol of Crimea. His image can be found on advertising booklets, magnets, mugs, plates, and all sorts of other souvenirs. It was built in a very picturesque place, on top of a 40-meter cliff of Cape Ai-Todor. It is a monument of architecture and history.
However, objectively speaking, this place can be called a typical "tourist trap". You will spend no more than 5 minutes near the castle, and most of them near souvenir stands, or brushing off annoying offers to take pictures with animators. Our opinion (of the authors of the site) is that it's not worth going here on purpose, but if you drive by, or have nothing to do in Yalta at all, then you can take a look. Read more about the Swallow's Nest here.

By car you can drive along the asphalt road right up to the castle, but you will have to pay 200 rubles for parking.
Ai-Petri Mountain
Ai-Petri is the most famous mountain in the Crimea, and, perhaps, it can be called the most famous natural tourist attraction of the peninsula. The mountain is considered a landmark place of the Crimean Peninsula and in our opinion is definitely worth a visit. From its top there are magnificent panoramic views of the surroundings, and to attract tourists and their convenience, a cable car operates all year round. A whole complex with tourist entertainment has been formed on the mountain: there is a cafe, an extreme rope bridge, a zipline, horseback riding and ATVs, and a market for tourist goods. The bravest can climb even higher along the path to the highest point – the teeth of Ai-Petri (1234 m). And here you can visit three caves – Trekhglazka, Geophysical and Yalta. But as of 2023, the Three-Eye and Geophysical were closed. Read more about Ai-Petri here.

Trip to Sevastopol
The hero city of Sevastopol is, without a doubt, one of the most saturated historical sights of the cities of the Crimean Peninsula. There are a huge number of memorable places and monuments testifying to the heroic deeds and tragic events of the Crimean and Great Patriotic Wars; there is the largest and most famous archaeological museum-reserve in the Crimea – the ancient Greek city of Chersonesos; there are several very interesting museums housed in fortifications, and much more. Sevastopol is only a couple of hours away from Yalta, and therefore it is worth visiting it. You can do this with excursions, or get there by intercity buses, and return the same day back. Learn more about Sevastopol and how to visit it here.
Practical Information
🕐 Working hours: it is best to go with an excursion or independently to Sevastopol early in the morning in order to have time to return the same day.
💵 Entrance fee / ticket price : excursions from 1500 rubles, independently by bus from 300 rubles in one direction.
🚶 How to get there: The center of Sevastopol is located 80 kilometers from Yalta, it's about two hours by bus or an hour and a half by car. The easiest and most convenient way is to buy a ready-made tour by bus, they cost from 1500 rubles / person, you can book online on the sites Sputnik8 or Tripster. During the day you can go on your own by bus from the Yalta bus station or by your own transport. Just keep in mind that Sevastopol is a big city, its sights are scattered over long distances, and with an independent trip you still have to move around the city. Therefore, we recommend that you consider first of all options with excursions. And more about how to get to Sevastopol on your own here.
Palaces and cave towns of Bakhchisarai
Bakhchisarai is the former capital of the Crimean Khanate with an eventful medieval history and a large number of historical and cultural attractions. These are, of course, first of all known to all guests of the peninsula Bakhchisarai Khan's Palace and medieval fortress Chufut-Kale, medieval towns-fortresses Mangup-kale, Tepe-Kermen and Exi-Kermen, cave temples and monasteries Holy Dormition, Kachi-Kalon, Bead Temple, Shuldan, Chelter-Marmara. And a nice bonus when visiting these attractions will also be the magnificent nature with excellent views of the low rocky and flat mountains covered with dense caps of green vegetation. Therefore, we believe that it is simply impossible to leave the Crimea without seeing at least some of the interesting places of the Bakhchisarai district. Learn more about Bakhchisarai and how to visit it here.
Practical Information
🕐 Working hours: it is best to go with an excursion or on your own to Bakhchisarai early in the morning in order to have time to return the same day.
💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: excursions from 1800 rubles.
🚶 How to get there: from Yalta to Bakhchisarai is 80-103 kilometers, depending on the chosen road: the road through Ai-Petri is shorter, but it is bad and it takes longer to go along it, a detour on a good road is faster. Taking into account the peculiarities of the location of attractions throughout the Bakhchisarai districts and their number, we advise you to first consider the options for excursions. There are sightseeing trips both directly to the city center with a visit to the Khan's Palace and the Chufut-Kale complex, and separate excursions to the most interesting cave cities. You can pick up excursions online at Sputnik8 or Tripster.
We do not advise you to go here on your own by bus for one day, because you will have to go with a transfer through Sevastopol, and you will not have time to see almost anything. A trip on your own transport is quite possible, but in this case we advise you to set aside at least a couple of days with an overnight stay in Bakhchisarai. And more about how to get to Bakhchisarai on your own here.

Boat trips
One of the obligatory tourist attractions in Yalta we definitely include boat trips along the coast. You can skip the local zoo, do not go to the water park, but it is simply impossible not to take a boat ride, especially since it is not very expensive. You can go by regular motor ships, which will take you to one of the resorts of Bolshaya Yalta, where you can swim and walk around the area, and therefore return the same way or by bus. But much more interesting for holidaymakers are sightseeing or pleasure boats, the sailing program of which includes excursion service, stopping at notable places, usually a Swallow's nest, disembarking for swimming or swimming in the open sea. The Grand Canyon of Crimea
This is a unique natural attraction for the Crimean Peninsula, the longest and deepest canyon of the Crimea. Its maximum depth reaches 320 meters, and its length is 3.5 kilometers. For a longer distance it is quite wide, but in some places the rocks taper to 3 meters. At the bottom of the gorge flows the mountain river Kokkozka, which formed the canyon, "cutting" for millions of years in soft limestone rocks a deep passage for its waters. For tourists, the Grand Canyon of Crimea provides an opportunity to walk along the equipped tourist eco-trail along the bottom along the riverbed. The route is simple and can be overcome in 2-4 hours. For safety and convenience, there are route maps, signs, markers, bridges for crossing the river, stairs and steps, places of rest.
