Yalta Beaches

Article and Section Navigation

In order to make it easier for you to understand the beaches of Yalta and decide where it is better to relax, we divided them into urban (they can be reached on foot), and distant, which can only be reached by bus or car. All distant beaches are not only places where you can come to sunbathe and Swim during the day, but also independent resort places where it is quite possible to accommodate for all the time of rest.

So, here is a list and description of the beaches in the city of Yalta, so that you can choose the most suitable place for a hotel or accommodation, and at the end of the article an interactive map of the beaches:

City beaches

In total, there are several beaches within the city of Yalta. They are all pebbly. The depth basically starts almost immediately from the shore, for swimming with young children are not very suitable. Everywhere the banks are reinforced with concrete and divided into short sections of 50 meters by transverse dams (buns). Because of this, you can forget about walking along the water's edge. Not all beaches are available for recreation, since in some places the passages to the shore are deliberately blocked by hotels, built up with houses and fences, but in general, nowhere is an entrance fee charged. There are also legally closed medical beaches of sanatoriums, we marked them on our map of Yalta in red. Of course, there is no need to talk about the beauty of the beaches in the city: at best, get a view of the hotel, at worst – on concrete piles.

The beach infrastructure is well developed. There are showers, changing rooms, toilets, sun beds, umbrellas are offered for rent, water sports and entertainment are presented. You can relax on your mattress or towel, it is widespread. Almost everywhere there are cafes, shops with food, there are vendors of snacks and drinks. As for the water, it is transparent here, but in terms of environmental indicators it is far from ideal. Moreover, the urban sewage system is built in such a way that sometimes storm drains and sewage fall directly into coastal waters.

I would also like to note that some city beaches have limited opening hours, and close after 17:00-19:00. People from there are asked to leave, the gates are closed. Most of them after this time can still be accessed along the shore or through the fence, no one is guarding them, just the administration is not responsible for your safety.

  • Central/Seaside City Beach

In the heart of the tourist fun of Yalta, in the area of the Square and Lenin embankment, there are no beaches. Only a small pebble plot is located opposite the chapel of the New Martyrs, and it is always filled with vacationers, although few dare to swim.

A longer Beach area called "Seaside Beach" starts after cafe Orange (Yalta Central Beach on the map). This cafe can be easily recognized, it is made in the form of a ship and is perfectly visible from any point of the embankment. From here, the Pebble Beach strip stretches for 800 meters until it ends with a closed reconstructed promenade. As expected, the beach is divided into sections by breakwaters. This is not to say that there is nowhere to fall at the height of the season, but still there are more vacationers than on all other beaches.

There is a lot of entertainment, including for children, a lot of cafes and stalls with food. The beach is fully equipped with sun loungers, awnings, changing cabins, toilets and everything else that you may need on the beach. However, some areas separated by breakwaters have no infrastructure at all, and there are usually fewer vacationers. And some, on the contrary, offer all the charms for a beach holiday, such as The Beach "Opera Prima". There is everything from storage cells to individual VIP bungalows in the form of tents. Access is not restricted anywhere, there is no entrance fee, but you need to pay for the use of amenities.

If you have no special claims to the cleanliness and beauty of the beaches, then you can safely stay in the center, and then you will be close to all the fun of Yalta, and a stone's throw from this beach.

Wherever you stay within the city limits, getting here will be the easiest. Almost all city buses go to the center (Lenin Square and the embankment), from where the beach is at hand, and the path will pass through the most fun place in the city – the embankment.

  • Dolphin Beach

This is a well-equipped place for a beach holiday, but is far from the center. There are cafes, sun loungers, umbrellas, changing cabins, luggage storage, and even individual bungalows for relaxation. All this is located on a conventional embankment, and the coastline itself is like everywhere else – pebbles and concrete. Entrance to the territory is free, you need to pay for the use of amenities. Dolphin is open from 08:00 to 18:00.

"Dolphin" is located near Livadia, three kilometers from the center (dolphin on the map). Theoretically, from the Lenin embankment you can get here on foot in 40-60 minutes, but along the way you will have to bypass construction sites and obstacles in the form of Sanatorium territories, you can not go directly along the coast. By bus number 11 and 35 you can get to the stop "Rest House Zarya", and go down to the dolphin on foot.

  • Livadia Beach

Located in the Yalta suburb of Livadia (Livadia on the map). The entire beach is long, but, unfortunately, divided into short sections by transverse dams, so you can not walk along the shore, if only along the concrete path of the embankment above. Of the advantages, it is worth highlighting clean water and sparsely populated, more or less beautiful landscape, since the green hill of Livadia park stretches along the entire coast. But what is bad, the embankment itself looks dilapidated and ugly (this, in fact, it is), everywhere there are ugly concrete structures to strengthen the shore, there is no natural beauty in sight. Another feature of the beach is the early shade: already at half past five in the evening the sun disappears behind the hills, and it is no longer possible to sunbathe, it becomes cool.

There are several mid-priced hotels in the Livadia area, and several are right next to the beach. However, to get to the shore, you have to go down, and back to overcome a considerable rise.

You can get here on foot along the coast, but you will have to go more than an hour, simultaneously bypassing obstacles from construction sites and sanatorium territories. You can also swim on a pleasure boat, or take buses №11, 100, 102, 115, 122 to the stop "Livadia", and then through the park of the Livadia Palace go down to the shore, for which you will have to overcome an impressive descent. You can go back on a special two-level elevator for 20 rubles, it will lead you up to the Palace Park.

  • Massandra Beach

This is one of the best beaches near the city center, where you do not need to go, but can be reached on foot. It starts from the center right after the sea station, and stretches for 500 meters (Massandra on the map). It is divided by concrete breakwaters into small beaches, each of which is equipped in its own way. There are no restrictions on access, with the exception of individual VIP areas, very well equipped, where you can only rent a sun lounger or order something in a cafe/restaurant.

Along the shore there is an embankment, narrow and without any beauty, but on it there are cafes, shops with souvenirs, excursions are sold. There is a lot of entertainment. What is bad in this place, almost always a lot of vacationers. But in this area there are housing and hotels with access directly to the embankment. Staying here, you will be located near the beach, and if you wish, you can reach the center and all the fun on foot.

You can get to this beach from the center on foot along Roosevelt Street or Ignatenko street, Everything is nearby.

  • Yalta-Intourist Beach

This is one of the best beaches of the Crimea, and is considered the best in the entire South Caucasus. It is awarded the status of "Blue Flag" by European standards, which means a high level of cleanliness and safety of the beach (Beach on map).

In fact, this is not just a beach, but a whole complex of concrete on three levels at the Yalta-Intourist hotel. On the ground floor there is the actual access to the water and the beach itself, traditionally divided into small areas by concrete breakwaters. The beach is pebbly, very comfortable, equipped with everything. Plenty of entertainment is offered. On the second floor there is a walking area, a promenade in the center of the city, with shops, cafes, restaurants, and here is the entrance to Oceanarium. Even higher is the entertainment zone with cafes and restaurants, and here is a special zone – an artificial sandy beach "Sky Beach". Of course, this is not a real Beach, since there is no water here, but you may like it if you feel like you are in a tropical land. In general, this is a full-fledged tourist town for relaxing on the beach, but only guests of the Yalta-Intourist hotel can enjoy all its charms.

Access to this beach is completely free by law, charging is prohibited. However, the hotel management tries in every way to protect the peace of its guests from outsiders, hanging signs at the entrance with the inscriptions "therapeutic beach, entrance only by passes", etc.you can ignore these illegal signs, and calmly go to the beach.

You can get from the center by bus number 29A for 25 rubles, go to the stop "Yalta-Intourist". From the stop you need to walk a little less than a kilometer along the signs "Oceanarium" on a not very nice road to the entrance to the beach (entrance to Inturist Beach on the map). By car you can drive almost to the entrance, but there is very little parking space there.

  • Beach DT "actor" /Solaris

The beach of the former House of creativity "actor", now" actor Park Hotel", is inaccessible to vacationers from the side, everything is blocked by buildings and fences. At least for us (the authors of the site) never managed to get on it. However, there is a public beach nearby, known as "Solaris". It is quite possible to come here for a day to relax, if you get tired of the hustle and bustle of the city beaches, or even from the nearby developed Yalta-Intourist. The beach is abandoned and looks dilapidated, there is no entertainment and infrastructure, but there are very few vacationers.

You can get here by bus number 29A to the stop "Yalta-Intourist" , and then follow the signs to the beach "Yalta-Intourist" and to the aquarium, only at the entrance you need to turn in the other direction (on the map).

    Solaris Beach
    Solaris Beach
  • Donbass

The beach "Donbass" is located immediately after Yalta-Intourist (Beach-Donbass on the map). Previously, it was closed to outsiders and belonged to the Donbass sanatorium. But now this sanatorium is part of the Yalta-Intourist Hotel and is called "Green Park Yalta Intourist", and the beach, theoretically, is open to all vacationers. You can really get to it from the side, but for this you have to overcome a whole maze of fences, so we will not recommend it as a place where you should come for a day from the Center for recreation.

The beach here is wide, but it does not differ in beauty, rather, on the contrary, it is completely launched. Along the embankment passes, requiring reconstruction, as well as the coastal fortification itself. There are very few vacationers here, there is no entertainment, there are also no shops and cafes. Swimming is not very safe, there are too many huge stones.

You can get there by bus number 29A from the city center or from the bus station to the Stop "Dolphinarium". Travel costs 25 rubles, buses run every 30-60 minutes. From the bus stop will have to overcome a decent descent down, and eclipse also the barrier of the fence. Walking along the shore from the center will not work, everything is blocked by buildings and construction sites.

Distant beaches

In addition to city beaches, tourists often relax in the villages that make up greater Yalta. These are places such as Simeiz, Alupka, Gurzuf, Katsiveli, etc. All these resorts have a big advantage over urban ones – they are much more deserted, the water is cleaner. Therefore, even if you decide to stay in a hotel in the city itself, at any time you can take a bus or car to one of the remote beaches and spend the day there. You can also stay in one of these villages for the entire period of vacation, as they have all the necessary tourist infrastructure for recreation. So, here's a list of them, a brief description and a way to get there:

  • Nikitsky beach and Otradnoye

Nikitsky Beach is about five kilometers from the center (on the map), and very close to it is the beach of the village of Otradnoye (on the map). These two beaches stretch for one and a half kilometers, from the treatment facilities in Otradnoye, and in Nikita they pass into the shore of the Reserve at Cape Martyan. They are pebbly, and in some places even "crushed stone", separated by breakwaters. There are very few vacationers, as well as beach Entertainments. There is an old embankment of the Times of the USSR, where in the high season there are several tent cafes and stalls in restaurants. The passageways to the beaches are built up with sanatoriums and blocked by the territory Nikitsky Botanical Garden, so you will have to walk a decent detour. The beach in Otradnoye is located next to sewage treatment plants.

You can get from the center (embankment, Lenin Square) and from the bus station by bus number 29 (goes only to Nikitinsky Beach), number 29A (goes to Nikitinsky beach and Otradnoye). The cost is 25 rubles, 15-20 minutes on the way. Nikitinsky Beach will still have to walk 15 minutes.

  • Cape Martyan Beach

A multi-kilometer strip of coast, not equipped in any way, stretches from the village of Nikita to the hotel "AI Danil" in Danilovka along the shore of Cape Martyan (on the map). There is no infrastructure and the usual concrete breakwaters for Yalta. Not all places here are suitable for swimming, sometimes just rocks, but here the natural beauty has been preserved, there is no ugly concrete with protruding reinforcement. In a word – an ideal place for "savages" and lovers of solitude.

This is a closed territory for free visits - a reserve. However, this does not stop lovers to retire on it. Here they make their way through a gap in the fence at the end of Nikitinsky beach, and pass a little further along the shore.

  • Blue Bay

The beach in Goluboi Bay is located between the villages of Simeiz, Katsiveli and Goluboi Bay (on the map). It is located in a beautiful cozy Bay, and is considered one of the best in the Simeiz area, and in our opinion in Yalta in general. Its length is a little less than a kilometer, but only 250 meters near the radio telescope is suitable for comfortable swimming and Recreation. The beach is called-under the radio telescope. It is not equipped, without amenities and entertainments. The rest of the coast is suitable for sunbathing or seclusion, but not for swimming, as there are too large stones.

You can get there by suburban buses from Yalta bus station by bus number 107. Depart every 30 minutes, costs 50 rubles, about 40 minutes on the way. It goes almost to the beach. You can also drive to the center of Simeiz, and from there on foot 3 kilometers.

  • Simeiz

Simeiz is located 20 kilometers from Yalta (on the map). The beaches here are pebbly, the pebbles on the main beach are large. On the beaches a little further away – shallow. The water is very clear, but during bad weather and storms, muddy water can wash ashore. What is good, there are no sections separated by terrible concrete fortifications, and all 400 meters of the coast are continuous. Most tourists prefer to relax on the main beach of the village. This is the most developed beach: along it there is a kind of embankment with cafes, food stalls, tents with tourist goods. West of the city beach behind the pier is the beach at Diva rock. There are fewer pebbles on it, even sand comes across, and the depth is small. This is just the perfect place to swim with young children. In addition, it offers a wonderful view of the diva rock. But this place has an unpleasant feature: during strong waves, water floods the beach.

You can get here from the bus station of Yalta on suburban buses No. 115 and No. 142. They are sent every 15-20 minutes, the cost is 33-38 rubles, about 30 minutes on the way. From the bus station in the center of Simeiz to the beach 15 minutes on foot.

See more about holidays in Simeiz here.

  • Gurzuf

Gurzuf is located 20 kilometers from Yalta (on the map). This is a completely independent village with a well-developed tourist infrastructure and a special architectural charm, but in order to escape here away from the crowd of vacationers from the center of Yalta, it is not very suitable, because there are enough tourists here. In high season, they are almost always crowded. On the shore there are Pebbles, the depth is great. Along the coast there is a pleasant promenade, everything is well equipped. Separately, it is worth mentioning the beach of Chekhov or "Chekhov". This is a small rocky beach in the Bay in the area of the attraction "Chekhov House Museum", and you can get to it by buying a ticket to visit the courtyard and Chekhov Bay for 60 rubles. This place is not particularly convenient, because here even the coast is rocky and there is nowhere to lie down for sunbathing, but the water is considered the cleanest in Gurzuf. The beach closes along with the museum at 19 hours.

You can get from the Yalta bus station by bus number 106, poisoned every 30-60 minutes, the cost is 25 rubles, 40 minutes on the way.

  • Foros

The village of Foros is the farthest from Yalta, located 40 kilometers (on the map). It is hardly worth going here from Yalta for one day solely for the sake of a beach holiday, because it is too far, and the beaches are so-so. Unless you can attract the fact that this is the southernmost settlement of the Crimea, and the water here is one of the cleanest on the peninsula. The beaches themselves are very rocky, located on the descent from the center of the village. Entertainment and infrastructure are few.

You can get from the bus station of Yalta on the suburban bus number 128. The journey is about an hour, costs from 62 rubles. They are sent on schedule, but not always exactly adhere to it. In winter they depart every hour, in summer every 30 minutes, but from 12:30 to 13:45 the drivers have lunch:

    • from Yalta from 07:00 to 19:00
    • from Foros from 07:50 to 18:20

In the village, buses arrive at the bus station in the center, and then 10 minutes on foot.
