General information
Simeiz (Simeiz) is a village on the Southern Coast of Crimea, 20 kilometers from Yalta, part of Greater Yalta (Simeiz on the map of Crimea). The village is quite small, the population is less than three thousand people, but during the holiday season it is filled with vacationers.
Simeiz is a popular place for a holiday resort, one of the most cozy villages on the Southern Coast of Crimea. Even at the height of the season in July and August, it is quiet here, no fuss and noise, a lot of people except on the beach. The beaches here are pebbly, the water is clear and turquoise, there is even a kind of embankment left over from Soviet times, on which cafes and bars are located, discos are held in the evening. But do not expect too much, after all, this is a tiny resort village with a rustic atmosphere, and young people here may seem bored. But for family beach holidays and holidays with young children, it is difficult to find a better place in Crimea.
All the necessary infrastructure for recreation in Simeiz is available, but nothing superfluous. There are cafes and restaurants, many hotels and housing, a small clothing and grocery market, several grocery stores and a minimarket. You can also have a snack in numerous cafes of home cooking, from fast food stalls - chebureks, pita bread, ice cream, drinks. There are ATMs in shops on Sovetskaya Street 32a, Sovetskaya Street 36a, as well as in a bank branch on Sovetskaya Street. Sovetskaya 15a.
But it is impossible not to mention the small disadvantages of the resort. First of all, the beach in high season becomes very crowded, including due to vacationers coming for the day from Yalta. There is simply not enough space for everyone on the main beach, so it is best to occupy the territory in the morning. There are very few beach activities, only children's slides. Well, someone may find the height difference in Simeiz inconvenient: to get to the beach, you will have to go down and climb back up.
Beaches of Simeiz
The beaches in Simeiz are pebbly, the pebbles on the main beach are large. On the beaches a little further away – shallow. The water is very clear, but during bad weather and storms, muddy water can wash up to the shore. Which is good, there are no sections separated by terrible concrete fortifications, and all 400 meters of the coast are continuous.
Most tourists prefer to relax on the main beach of the village (Simeiz city beach), which is closest to the center and most easily accessible. This is also the most developed beach: along it runs a kind of embankment with cafes, food stalls, tents with tourist goods. Here you can rent a chaise longue (from 30 rubles / hour), there are changing cabins, but there is nothing else from the infrastructure.
If you go to the left (towards Yalta, to the east), you can get to very narrow wild beaches, but it's not very comfortable to rest on them, they are too rocky. To the right of the city beach behind the pier is the beach at the Diva rock. There are fewer pebbles on it, even sand comes across, and the depth is small. This is just the perfect place to swim with young children. In addition, there is a wonderful view of the Diva Rock from here. But this place has an unpleasant feature: during strong waves, water floods the beach.
Further behind the Diva rock are the beaches of the village Blue Bay. Read more about all the beaches of Simeiz here.
Hotels and accommodation in Simeiz, where to stay
Simeiz is an exclusively resort village, there are plenty of hotels and accommodation here. The prices are reasonable: a room for two in a hotel can be rented from 1000 rubles (when booking in advance, before the start of the season), the same amount is a room in the private sector, and already for a family with children.
For the most economical and lovers of tent rest, there are two convenient places near Simeiz. On the other side of Mount Koshka, in the Blue Bay, there is an auto camping. It is open only in season from June 1. There you can stay in a tent from 250 rubles (not per person, but for a place for a tent), a place for a car is 250 rubles. There is electricity, water and its own beach. It is very rocky, but on foot along the shore from it you can walk to the beach with a radio telescope, which is much better. And one more place - a wild tent city near the Swan Wing Mountain. This is a place for real Robinsons and hippies, but not for a family vacation. The beach here is very rocky, there are no amenities.
As for the choice of location, this is not a matter of principle. The village is small, the whole of it can be walked around, so the only thing to consider is not to be too far from the beach. Simeiz is also often referred to as housing and hotels in the neighboring village of Blue Bay (it is located behind Mount Koshka), but keep in mind that if you settle there, you will have to walk 2 kilometers to the center of the village, where cafes, shops and other infrastructure are located.
When searching for hotels in Crimea on Booking.com you will most likely receive a message - "No options found". This is a limitation booking.com because of the sanctions. Attractions and entertainment in Simeiz
There are no significant attractions in Simeiz. In the village itself there is the cathedral mosque of Juma-Jami, the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. Also, while walking around the village, you can see several architectural monuments, old villas, but you can not go inside, they are all in a neglected state of disrepair. On the Panea Rock (opposite the Diva rock), you can climb along the paths and see the remains of the ancient Panea fortress. An interesting place is the Diva rock itself, to the top of which you can climb a ladder, and from above there is a really stunning view of the village and the beach. You can walk 3 kilometers and see the unique radio antenna of the Crimean radio Telescope in the neighboring village of Blue Bay. Otherwise, you will have to satisfy your passion for sightseeing with excursions to other parts of the Crimea, you can buy them from distributors on the street and in travel agencies. You can also go to Yalta and other villages of Big Yalta on your own during the day, and see the sights there (see the sights of Yalta).
The main entertainment in Simeiz is a beach holiday, but that's not all. In the neighboring village there is an excellent water park "Blue Bay" (website simeiz-aquapark.ru). This is an outdoor water park, so it is open only in summer from June to September. The cost of the visit:
- Full-time adults - 1400 rubles; children - 700
- Half of the day (from 13:30 to 18:30) adults -1200; children - 600
- Discounts for residents of Crimea
You can get to the Water Park from Simeiz on foot, and from the bus station of Yalta and other villages by bus No. 107.
Inflatable slides are installed on the beach for children, and bicycle rental is available on Lenin Street near Cypress Alley. There are no other entertainment for children.
If you like extreme sports, you can practice rock climbing on the Swan Wing mountain. But according to our information, there is no organized camp, equipment rental and instructors here, so you will have to take care of everything yourself. If climbing is too difficult for you, you can walk up the mountain "Cat", the shape of which resembles a lying ... cat. Its height is 255 meters, and the ascent can be made without any equipment. At the top you can see the ruins of the Isar Limena-Kale fortress of the XIII-XV centuries, and a unique "swinging dolmen" - a large stone above the cliff, supported by several small stones.
As for evening entertainment, in the evening discos and bars work on the conditional embankment along the city beach.
How to get to Simeiz
You can get here by commuter buses from Yalta, by intercity buses from Simferopol and Simferopol airport. There is no bus connection with other cities. All buses arrive at the bus station in the very center of the village (bus station on the map).
A direct bus to Simeiz runs from the airport once or twice a day in high season. The cost is from 350 rubles, 3 and a half hours on the way. From the bus station "Kurortnaya" in Simferopol, buses to Simeiz depart much more often, so if transfers do not scare you, you can use this option.
But the most optimal option in our opinion is a trip with a transfer to Yalta, since buses on this route run most often. The transfer will need to be done at the bus station Yalta. From the airport to Yalta, you can get a direct flight of intercity buses from 240 rubles and in 2 and a half hours. You can also get from the airport to Yalta by trolleybus No. 55, but it will take 3 hours, the cost is 138 rubles. Then, at the bus station in Yalta, you need to transfer to suburban routes No. 115 or No. 142. They are sent every 15-20 minutes, the cost is 33-38 rubles. Read more, how to get to Simeiz here.
