General information
Foros - a village on the southern coast of Crimea, 40 kilometers from Yalta and 100 kilometers from the airport and Simferopol (Foros on the map of Crimea). This is the southernmost village of the Crimea, belongs to greater Yalta, population – 1800 people.
Foros is a fairly popular and popular place for a beach holiday. The village is moderately developed, famous for clean air, clean water, gorgeous nature and a pleasant atmosphere. It is believed that the water here is almost the most transparent on the peninsula, and all because of the currents that constantly refresh the coastal waters. There is also an opinion that since this is the southernmost resort of the Crimea, it is the warmest here, although in fact this is not entirely true.
At first glance, Foros may seem like the most ordinary village with standard concrete boxes of houses, but it's worth a walk through the individual areas, as there is a feeling of a pleasant, almost European town with narrow streets and beautiful architecture. Holidays in Foros are generally calm, mostly Beach. There are no tourist attractions, noisy discos, a separate tourist area for walking and the embankment here. There are very few attractions. In general, the rest here will appeal to tourists who are not too fastidious about the quality of the beaches, who have enough clean air, water, and nothing else is required. And now about everything in order.
Beaches in Foros
Unfortunately, the beaches of Foros are the weak link of the village. There is such a beautiful clear water here, and a beach holiday could be really perfect if everyone did not spoil the city beaches. If you have no special claims to the views and grooming of the beaches, if only there was a sea, then they may well suit you. But if you have already visited the "licked" overseas beaches, or even the major Russian resorts, here, most likely, you will be somewhat disappointed.
The beach here is pebbly, mainly of large pebbles. On the shore and under water there are huge boulders. They, Of course, add beauty to the landscapes, but swimming among huge blocks is not comfortable and dangerous, it is easy to hit a stone under water. Therefore, going here on vacation, be sure to take with you special beach shoes in which you can swim. Dilapidated concrete fortifications with protruding reinforcement do not add convenience and beauty, and part of the beach is completely rolled up with concrete. And yet, keep in mind, wherever you stay, you will have to overcome a rather steep descent to the beach. But the city beaches are well equipped: there are cabins for changing clothes, umbrellas and sun beds for rent, toilets, near trays with food and cafes. Entertainment is not very much: for some reason, even traditional banana rides are rarely offered here, but there are children's inflatable slides.
All of the above does not mean that there are no normal beaches in Foros at all. It is worth going a little further from the center, as there are beautiful virgin beaches, not spoiled by concrete and human activity. They are not equipped, not very suitable for recreation with children and swimming because of large stones, but very beautiful. Near many of them in the high season there are spontaneous tent camps, and on some nudists sunbathe freely.
Infrastructure
The tourist infrastructure in Foros is well developed. The village is well developed, there are cafes and restaurants, canteens, shops and markets. There is no separate tourist zone or embankment with Entertainment here, but the closer to the embankment and sanatoriums, the more cafes and canteens, and the higher the prices, and significantly. But it is only necessary to go a little to the sides of residential areas, as everything becomes much cheaper. Travel agencies and distributors of excursions on the streets are available. In general, tourists here do not have to leave the village to buy something or get services, everything is here.
