How and how to get to Foros

Foros is part of Big Yalta and is located 40 kilometers from the city center (Foros on the map of Crimea), respectively, most ways to get here goes through Yalta. Most often it is at the Yalta bus station that you will have to make a transfer if you decide to get to Foros by inexpensive public transport. There is a small bus station in the center of Foros, where all buses arrive and depart (Foros bus station on the map). There is also a stop on Yuzhnoberezhnoye Highway (turn Foros, stop on the map), where passing intercity buses from Yalta or Alushta to Sevastopol and back stop. From this stop, you can get to the village on foot (2 kilometers to the center), by passing cars or commuter buses No. 128 from Yalta (about them below).

So, it is most convenient to get to Foros from cities and regions of the Russian Federation through the main transport hub of Crimea - the airport or Simferopol railway station. Flights from most regions of the Russian Federation are currently operating to them, and additional flights are being launched during the high tourist season.

Upon arrival at the airport or at the railway station, you can get directly to Foros directly by taxi, very rare direct bus flights or with a transfer via Yalta. Let's tell you more:

By taxi from the airport and railway station to Foros

The most convenient way to get to Foros from the airport or from the railway station is by taxi or ordering a tourist transfer. The trip will cost from 1600 rubles, depending on how you order the car. It is cheaper to order a taxi by calling local companies, more expensive in the airport parking lot or at the counter in the arrivals terminal. If you are used to planning everything in advance, then you can use a tourist transfer. This is almost the same as a taxi, but with increased comfort and a driver meeting you at the airport or at the train station with a sign. By bus from the airport to Foros

By bus from Simferopol airport can be reached by direct buses (rarely run), or with a transfer through the center of Simferopol or Yalta. In general, transport on these routes goes a lot and often, you can combine all this. For example, here is the most difficult route, but allows you not to wait long for transfers:

From the airport to the bus station "Kurortnaya" in Simferopol → there is a transfer by bus or trolleybus No. 52 to the Yalta bus station → in Yalta transfer by bus or taxi to Foros.

• Direct bus

  There is a direct bus service from the airport bus station to Foros twice a day. The cost starts from 600 rubles, departure at 11:30 and 19:25 (but may change), 3 and a half hours on the way. • Via Simferopol

  First, from the airport by city buses or trolleybuses No. 49 or 20, you need to get to bus station Kurortnaya AC-2 in Simferopol. The journey takes 30-40 minutes, the fare costs 28 rubles.

  Further from the "Resort" (it is also AC-2 in the schedules) to Foros at least 7 times a day, buses costing from 600 rubles recover according to the schedule, 3 hours on the way. • Via Yalta

  Since commuter and other buses run from Yalta to Foros much more often, you can get from the airport to Yalta first, and then at the bus station transfer to Foros by commuter bus or taxi.

  To do this, take a direct bus from the airport to Yalta, they depart approximately every hour, cost from 550 rubles, 2 and a half hours on the way. Then, at the bus station in Yalta, transfer to the suburban minibus No. 128 (departure every 30-90 minutes), or to any bus in the direction of Sevastopol or Bakhchysarai to the stop at the turn to Foros.

By bus from the railway station to Foros

The ways to get from Simferopol railway station to Foros are the same as those described above about the airport. These are either direct buses or a transfer via Yalta:

• Direct bus

  Next to the railway station is the main tourist bus station Simferopol "Resort" (aka AC-2 in the schedules), it can be reached on foot in a couple of minutes. From her to Foros at least 7 times a day, buses costing from 600 rubles recover according to the schedule, 3 hours on the way. In low season, the number of flights is reduced to 2 per day.

  Departure schedule from Kurortnaya to Foros: 06:25, 07:15, 08:00, 11:20, 13:25, 14:45, 18:15. But it may change, so check before the trip. But be careful: it is the departure from AC-2 Kurortnaya that you need in the schedule, and not from other bus stations in Simferopol.

• Via Yalta

  If you do not want to wait for a direct bus, then you can easily get there with a transfer via Yalta.

  Again, from the Kurortnaya bus station, take the nearest bus to Yalta (departs every 20 minutes, cost from 400 USD), or trolleybus No. 52 (departs every 30 minutes, cost from 180 USD). Drive 2.5-3 hours.

  Then, at the bus station in Yalta, transfer to the suburban minibus No. 128 (departure every hour and a half), or to any bus in the direction of Sevastopol or Bakhchisarai and get off at the stop at the turn to Foros.

From Yalta and other cities to Foros

Commuter bus No. 128 departs from Yalta Bus Station to Foros every 30-90 minutes (see the route on the map). His schedule changes seasonally and drivers do not always adhere to it, so you'll have to go after the fact. The fare depends on the distance, the trip to Foros will cost from 75 rubles. Drive about an hour. Here are the opening hours for a reference point:

• from Yalta from 07:00 to 19:00
• from Foros from 07:50 to 18:20

In the summer they go more often, about every 30 minutes, but from 12:30 to 13:45 they don't go at all, the drivers have lunch!

In addition to this route, you can also get from Yalta by any intercity bus to Sevastopol, Bakhchisarai, Yevpatoria, etc. in this direction. They go even more often than suburban ones, but they don't stop by Foros itself. But you can get off at the South Coast highway (turn Foros), and then walk to the village.

If you need to get to Foros from other cities, you can get directly on rare flights from the airport, Simferopol, Sevastopol and Bakhchisarai. From other cities, it is best to transfer via Yalta (you can get to Yalta by bus from almost all cities of Crimea), or by the above-mentioned passing buses along the Yuzhnoberezhnoye highway.

To Foros by car

If you are traveling to Foros by car, then after crossing the new Crimean bridge (free of charge), you can get to the resort by two routes: through Simferopol, or along the coast through Feodosia, Sudak, Alushta, Yalta, etc.

• If your goal is to get to Foros as quickly and economically as possible, then it is better to go along the new Tavrida highway through the Old Crimea, Simferopol, Bakhchisarai. You will have to drive 320 kilometers, which will take 5-7 hours, depending on the situation on the roads. You can also go along the route Tar Crimea, Simferopol, Alushta, Yalta, the distance is the same. Tavrida is an excellent high-speed highway without traffic jams, with rest areas and gas stations, it's a pleasure to drive along it.
• If you choose a route along the coast, then you will need to travel about the same distance. But since it is more difficult to get to Alushta along the coast, sometimes serpentines and ascents / descents, then you will spend at least 8 hours in time, and you will use more fuel. But the plus of this route is that it is much more picturesque, the views of the sea along the road are simply fascinating. In addition, there are many sights to meet along the way. It is worth choosing it if you are traveling for your own pleasure and are ready to spend the night somewhere along the way, because if you stop here for sightseeing, you will not have time to get to Foros in a light day.

And also, keep in mind that there are big problems with parking in Foros, there is not enough space, so when booking accommodation or a hotel, it is better to check in advance about the possibility of parking a car.
