In the rock on the shore next to the Archaeological Park of Peyia there is an ancient rock necropolis in Peyia (Rock Necropolis Pegeia), which appeared presumably during the heyday of the port city on this site, i.e. VI century. Burial sites are cut in the rock, and are made in the form of several levels (floors). Some levels are connected vertically by small holes in the floor, but their purpose is unclear, for the passage of a person they are too small.
You can see the tombs for free, but for this you have to make your way along a narrow path through the bushes up to the gate in the fence that protects the entrances to the tombs. There is also a trail from above from the observation deck, where the Agios Georgios Chapel is located, but from there it is not easy to notice it.
Note that there are other holes in the rock next to the tombs to their right, which tourists often confuse with a real necropolis. The Necropolis is located a little further opposite the beach of turtles( Turtle Beach), and from the bottom of the beach you will see a chain-link fence, you need to go there.

around the clock, it is better to visit in summer (less water in the gorge), and preferably in the morning, while it is not too hot.

🚶 How to get there
located 20 kilometers from Paphos in Peyia village (pegeia necropolis on the map. You can get there by private transport or by bus. First, from Paphos, take the bus number 615 and go to the terminal in Coral Bay (see bus schedule and route 615. There you will need to change to bus number 616 (see schedule and Route No. 616), and ride it to the end. Bus travel costs 1.5 euros, or you can buy a day pass for 5 euros.
