In general, this archaeological park along with Kourion Archaeological Park in Limassol, we would advise to include in the mandatory program of stay in Cyprus. It is worth visiting, even if you are staying for a holiday in other resorts of the island, which can be done during the day by bus, with a tour, or a rented car. Well, if you relaxing in Paphos then it is a must-visit place.

Some of the ruins date back to the IV century BC! Here is the lighthouse of Paphos, the amphitheater, the villa of Dionysus, the Odeon, the House of Orpheus and other places. All this is located at a respectful distance from each other, you will have to walk a lot. At the entrance, when buying tickets, they give out a map-guide with a brief description of the sights in the park, but it is best if you can visit the park with a tour or an individual guide, or at least find and download an audio guide on your smartphone on the Internet.

Take plenty of drinking water and a hat with you, in the middle of summer sunscreen will not hurt. Please note that in the peak season (summer) the day is very hot, the temperature can reach 40 degrees, so it is better to visit the Archaeological Park in the morning, or a few hours before closing. How to visit Paphos Archaeological Park for free

Although we do not welcome this way of visiting, nevertheless we can not fail to mention the opportunity to save money and see this open-air museum for free. Its impressive territory is fenced - a simple chain-link fence. The fence runs along the shore, reaches Lighthouse Beach (Lighthouse Beach, aka Faros Beach), and returns to the official entrance to the park through a residential area. Throughout this, holes periodically appear in the grid, and you can also penetrate through some exits, and in other places you can simply jump over the fence. There is no ticket control inside, but if you are caught during an illegal entry, there may be problems with the police. So here are some of the places for a free pass:

  • Walk along the fence along the shore and check if there are any new open holes in it.
  • From Lighthouse Beach, go downtown along the fence, and at the point where the apartment buildings begin and the park fence abuts the stone fence of the house, it's easy to climb up and jump down.
  • In the residential area opposite Catacombs Of Saint Solomonia there is a gate for the entry of official vehicles, and when there are no people, you can safely pass through them.
  • In the free parking area near the official entrance, there is an exit through which thin people can easily squeeze in. In general, exits equipped in the form of a turntable rotating in one direction, there are several around the perimeter, and almost everything can be "leaked".
