Description and Is it Worth Visiting
Local market (Local street market, Cho An Hai Dong) is a large urban market with many trading lanes. Here you will see the real life of the city, because local residents come here for shopping every day, and this is immediately felt in the atmosphere and prices.
Walking here you will immerse yourself in the local flavor and see a typical assortment for Vietnam. The market sells almost everything for everyday life: fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, fish and even live chickens. There is always a wide variety of fruits: watermelons, papaya, mango, jackfruit, pomelo and others. You can also find household goods and some clothes. Prices here, as we noticed, are really low, which is logical for a place aimed at locals.
It is important to be prepared for a specific atmosphere. The market is noisy, bustling and quite chaotic at first glance. Local residents are so accustomed to their mopeds that they usually do not walk, but drive through the trading lanes to deliver purchases or simply shorten the path. You can only pay in cash, cards are not accepted here.
For a tourist, a visit here is more an opportunity to see local life than shopping. At the same time, you can find jewelry stores here where you can profitably exchange currency. We compared rates at one point, and it was slightly lower here than in the jewelry stores near Han Market, but the difference is very small, so you can safely exchange.
If you plan to buy fruit, it is better to come in the morning or afternoon, when the selection is the freshest. We would recommend this place to those who want to see Da Nang beyond the resort promenades.
