Bang Rak Beach is also known as Big Budda Beach because it is located in the northern part of Koh Samui Islands in the bay next to the temple of the same name (Bang Rak beach on the map). This is an acceptable place to relax, but it is difficult for us to name any special advantages to stay for a rest in this place.

The beach strip itself here is a strong average man. The length of the coastline is 2 kilometers. The sand is clean and fine. Although there are small pebbles, fragments of shells and corals in the water, but you can enter the water without special shoes. The water is not very clear. There are very large stones on the edges of the bay, it is impossible to swim there. And in the middle there are four piers at once, which do not add much beauty. Tides almost do not appear, the depth is normal, but at high tides the strip of sand becomes narrow. Perhaps only the desolation adds advantages to the beach. There is almost no entertainment on the beach, there are sun beds.

The situation is especially bad in the east of the beach, closer to the temple and the statue of Big Buddha and the big pier. We strongly do not recommend staying there, otherwise you will have to swim only in the hotel pool.

As for the infrastructure, everything is there. A chain of hotels stretches along the entire coast, there are shops and restaurants. What's bad, very close, along the entire beach, there is a noisy busy highway, next to which, in fact, the entire infrastructure is concentrated. Well, if you can't find something in local shops and shops, the largest shopping centers of the island are located in the neighboring district of Boput. There is no noisy night entertainment, as well as a dedicated tourist street or zone where you can walk in the evenings.

Get to Bang Rak Beach you can even walk from the airport, a taxi will cost from 470 baht (see currency of Thailand, exchange rate), you can get there by minivan for 100 baht. The ring road does not pass through the area, but from the pier in Nathon you can take a Songteo shuttle bus to Bophut Beach for 80 baht, and then walk. There are also four marinas on Bang Rak at once, from which high-speed boats and ferries depart to Phangan Island, Tao Island and to the Angthong National Marine Park.

There are plenty of Hotels in Bang Rak area. All of them are located in a chain along the beach, almost all have access directly to the sea. There are expensive hotels with their own territory, but an inexpensive guest from $ 15 can also be found here without problems.

Summing up, about Bang Rak beach (Big Buddha) we can say that this is a rather calm and secluded place, while it is located in one of the busiest parts of the island. The beach here is not bad, but it is slightly spoiled by the marinas and rocky edges located here. There are no entertainment and entertainment facilities here, although there are enough restaurants. The advantage is the sparseness and proximity to transport (airport and marina).
