Description and is it worth a visit
The main place around which the evening tourist life in Chiang Rai flows is the night market near the old bus station of the city. With the arrival of darkness, active trade begins here, there is an excellent food court, several cafes and restaurants, street fast food is sold. The assortment of the market is represented mainly by goods for guests of the city. These are all kinds of souvenirs, food, some clothes. The market itself is very interesting, and you can buy very rare and unusual souvenirs on it.
But only shopping for tourists here is not limited to entertainment. A large food court is especially interesting. It is organized right in the open air in the form of many tables, and a cloth canopy protects visitors from bad weather (it is assembled and disassembled every evening). Most of the visitors there are locals or tourists from Thailand, but there is also a place for Europeans there. It is almost always filled with visitors, especially a lot of people on weekends. And to sit down there, sometimes you even have to wait a little while until the next table is available. You need to order food in one of the many shops around. There are a lot of things in the assortment: traditional Thai food, Korean, Japanese, exotic dishes and insects, seafood. There is, among other things, booze and cocktails. On the big stage in front of the food court, performances are shown all evening: modern songs, transvestite shows, dances in national costumes.
We have visited dozens of similar night markets in Thailand, but for some reason the night market in Chiang Rai has sunk into my soul the most. In general, if there is anywhere to go in the evening in Chiang Rai, then definitely here.
