A few days before the parties, during and a few days after, you can easily stay here without accommodation at all, or you will have to fork out for some expensive secluded hotel in a remote part of the island. Some guests during the island's parties even come here with tents and spend the night right on the beach to save money.

The rest of the time, between parties, finding accommodation on the spot will not be a big problem. If you want to stay in a good inexpensive hotel at a bargain price, then booking in advance in most cases will be more profitable, but if the quality of housing is not important to you and you are looking for something cheaper, you can safely come to the island and look for accommodation on the spot. The sale of hotels starts right at the pier in Thong Sala, where you will be greeted by many tuk-tukers with an offer to take you to a hotel for free. You may well take advantage of their offer if the price suits you, and the quality does not matter. Among the accommodation offers on the island there are many bungalows with minimal amenities, right on the beach and for a minimum price (bungalows with a fan, for example, can be rented for two for 300 baht). But do not forget that this is all only in the period between the time of the Full Moon Party. By the Full Moon Party, prices are rising.

Where to choose a hotel in Phangan, on which beach

Most of the hotels in Phangan are located on the west coast (see Phangan map with hotels). There are also the best beaches, most of the settlements and tourist infrastructure. But all the most "fashionable" hotels in Phangan, the stay on which will be truly secluded, are located in the eastern and northern parts of the island, the relief of which makes these places very inaccessible and isolated.

The center of tourist life on the island is the beach Haad Rin (or Hat Rin, Hat Rin), located on the southern tip of the island. Haad Rin is the most social and youth place where Full Moon Parties are held, and it's better not to go there if you come to the island for a relaxing holiday. If you come to the island to have fun, and not to lie on the beach and sleep, then you are in this place. In addition, Haad-Rin is the longest and most popular beach on the island, and it is one of the few places on the island where you can swim even during the rainy season. There are always a lot of people here and it's better to book a hotel in advance here at any time of the year.

As for hotel prices, it is on Haad Rin that the most inexpensive hotels, many hostels and hostels with mediocre quality are concentrated. It is believed (and it is) that the further you are from Haad Rin beach, the better quality accommodation you will find for the same money, only you will have to get quite far to the hangout.

Beaches stretch north of Haad Rin along the western coast Bann Tai, Bann Kai, and then the capital of the island Tongsala (Thong Sala). These are the longest beaches and a great place to escape from the noise and fun of Haad Rin, but at the same time be close to it. From these places it is very easy to get to the party (you can even walk).

Haad Yuan and Haad Tien are small and isolated sandy bays on the southeast coast, a little north of Haad Rin. They are picturesquely combined with the rocky coast of the island. To relax on these beaches is to the liking of those who love peace and quiet. Despite the proximity to Haad Rin, in fact, these beaches are not so easy to get from it (only by boat), and therefore they retain their absolute privacy. Do not consider these beaches as a peaceful place and at the same time close and accessible to Haad Rin.

But the best sandy beaches of Phangan are considered Thong Sadet and Thong Nai Pan. Both beaches are located on the east coast in a very remote and secluded place. By the way, at the first one you will be able to enjoy the grandeur of the famous Tan Sadet waterfall, which King Rama 5 liked so much. These beaches are suitable for lovers of the exotic, and those who want to escape from the seething "technical" life of the world. You will not find air conditioning in the bungalow, as well as a hot shower. And during breakfast you can easily see the monitor lizard – in general, all the exotics without an extra whiff of civilization. But Ton-Nai-Pan is famous for its fashionable hotels with huge swimming pools, with numerous massage and SPA salons, and other benefits of the modern world.

In the very north of Phangan, the beaches of Bottle Beach and Chaloklam are successfully located. This is one of the most secluded and quiet beaches in Phangan. If you can still get to Chaloklam by taxi, then it's best to use a boat to get to Bottle Beach.

The coral "king" of Phangan deserves special attention - Mae-Haad (Haad Mae Haad), with the western miniature island of Ma (Koh Maa). These places are simply adored by snorkelers who consider it the best for such entertainment. And if you want to watch the picturesque sunset, you can move to the beachWok Tum (Wok Tum) or Haad-Chao-Pao (Haad Chaphao)– here the view will be even more beautiful.
