Description and is it worth a visit
Nam Tok Station is the last operating on the historic Thai-Burmese railway built by prisoners of war during World War II. After it, the rails continue for several hundred meters, but trains do not run on them. The station itself is nothing special, it's not even a historical landmark. However, a peculiar tourist activity is the train route from the city of Kanchanaburi to it. Three regular regular commuter trains run daily on this route, 2 hours on the way. Locals pay pennies for travel, and a ticket for tourists costs 100 baht (3.07 USD, see Thailand's currency and exchange rate). While driving, the windows offer beautiful views of the River Kwai and nature. Even at the very beginning of the journey in the city, the train passes the famous bridge over the River Kwai, then through the unique and dangerous bridge Kra Sae. When driving from Kanchanaburi, it is best to sit down to the windows on the left side.
When you arrive at Nam Tok station, you can continue walking along the rails for another one and a half kilometers. Here you will see an old steam locomotive. A little further there is a small but beautiful Nam Tok Sai Yok Noi waterfall and Sai Yok Cave.
Also near Nam Tok there are several floating hotels on the River Kwai, where you can stay overnight. If you will not stay in floating hotels in the province in other places, then be sure to spend the night here, because this is a unique and unforgettable experience and experience. But it is best to book accommodation in these hotels in advance.
