Description and is it worth a visit
Old city Gate Tha Phae (Tha Phae Gate) is one of the iconic historical sights of Chiang Mai and an important landmark point. The gate was part of the fortress walls that surrounded and protected the city in the past, and there were five such gates. Ta Pae have been preserved best of all, and today they have become one of the iconic points for meetings and photographing.
Next to the gate from the outside of the fortress wall there is a square where merchants dressed in national costumes sell souvenirs and food for pigeons, and in the evenings local artists exhibit their works and street performers arrange performances. Although this square is small by our standards, it is one of the few places with space in Chiang Mai, since the whole city is densely built up with temples, houses, hotels and other buildings. Therefore, during the holidays, events are held on this square: concerts, performances of artists, rallies, etc.
