Description and is it worth a visit
There are several night markets in Chiang Mai at once. Each of them is interesting in its own way, but not all work daily. The most massive of them and working every day is the night market by the river. It should definitely be visited, and even more than once.
You can buy anything here, but the most important thing is that they sell handicrafts and even works of art made by masters of Chiang Mai. Among the huge variety of souvenirs there are some that you will not find anywhere else in Thailand, because they are made and sold only here. The skill of the authors is simply amazing. Many of the seemingly simple handicrafts border on the quality and design of real works of art, if not for their "multi-instance".
But you can go to the market not only for shopping. An evening walk will be a very interesting pastime even without shopping. There are also many small cafes and several large food courts where you can have a tasty and inexpensive meal.
In fact, the Chiang Mai Night Market is a whole zone with separate markets, each of which now has its own name. These are Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, Kalare Night Bazaar, Anusarn Market, Ploen Ruedee Night Market. Some of them are large buildings in the form of shopping centers, and some are located right in the open air. All of them are located on Changklan Road, and there is also a brisk trade in everything right on the street from the stalls. But for you, all these names and the division into separate markets does not matter at all. Just come to this street and walk, they sell everything here at every turn. In principle, in one evening you can get around everything here, compare prices, buy something and have dinner.
