Description and is it worth a visit
Temple with dragon Samphran in Bangkok (Wat Sam Phran or Wat Samphran) is one of the most unusual temples in the capital, and possibly in all of Thailand. The fact is that this temple complex consists not only of traditional temple buildings Ubosot (the usual temple building with a multi-level roof). On its territory, next to the main ubosot, a cylindrical tower with a height of 80 meters or 17 floors of pink color has been erected, which is wrapped around a giant dragon. By the way, it is worth noting that 80 meters is about 30 floors of a standard building, so this is a very tall structure!!! And yet, such a height is symbolic, since it is believed that the age of the Buddha at the time of death was exactly 80 years old.
Samphan Dragon Temple is not an ancient temple, it was officially opened in 1985. Of course, it was already built using modern technologies, and even provided an elevator in the building, but it does not work, and therefore you will have to walk up. Only the first floor is open to visitors, but to be honest, you won't see anything remarkable there. But the most interesting thing is that you can enter the body of the dragon and climb to the very top of the observation deck, which offers a panoramic view of this outlying area of Bangkok.
In addition to the "high-rise" in this temple complex there is a large statue of a sitting Buddha, a beautiful park with fountains, fish and religious statues.
To enter the temple, you need to take off your shoes, and barefoot you will have to climb inside the dragon to the observation deck. If you do this in sunny weather, you will end up on a hot roof, on which you will not be able to stand barefoot for a long time. Therefore, take socks with you, it will be easier to transfer the merciless heat to the exam room.

🚶 How to get there
The temple of the dragon Wat Sam Phran, strictly speaking, is not located in Bangkok, but in one of its suburbs with the same name Samphran, it is 40 kilometers from the center (temple with a dragon in Bangkok on the map).
It is not easy to get here, and it will take about an hour and a half to get to the road in one direction by public transport, a little less by taxi. A taxi ride on the meter, depending on the starting point, will cost from 400 to 600 baht (approximately 12-18 USD, see the currency of Thailand and its exchange rate), it is best to use the Grab application (similar to Uber).
You can get there by public transport in just a hundred baht, but you will have to make several transfers and spend a lot of time. In general, without experience using local transport, it will not be easy to figure it out the first time, so first read our article about Bangkok public transport.
The city metro does not go here, but you can get closer to the temple on the blue line of the Bangkok metro MRT to Lak Song station and from there by taxi from 250 baht (7.5 USD) or buses. It is also possible to get to Bang Wa station by LRT skytrain and from there also by taxi or with bus transfers. To plan a route with transfers, you can use Google maps or the ViaBus.
