Benjakitti Park in Bangkok

Almost every guest of Bangkok knows about Lumpini Park and the fact that you can see monitor lizards in it. However, there is another place in the city where you can meet huge lizards and just take a walk with pleasure – this is the Benchakitti Park in the Sukhumvit district.

Benjakitti Park is relatively new: it was founded in 1992, and it officially opened only in 2004. And this, by the way, is felt, since landscaping works are still being carried out in some parts of the park. However, if you have already visited in Lumpini Park and have seen all the interesting places in Bangkok, you can come for a walk here, especially since this park is conveniently located next to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre underground metro station and Asok skytrain station.

Benjakitti Park is huge. There is a large lake with fountains, a running track around the perimeter, benches for relaxation and beautiful views of the skyscrapers of Bangkok. There are sports grounds, bicycle rental And catamarans for skiing on the lake, a free toilet, and for walking along the green part of the park there are special paths-bridges that pass over canals and glades. There is also the building of the old tobacco factory of the Tobacco Authority of Thailand, which used to own this land, and there is a free exhibition of antique tobacco machines. And during feasts and fetishes, the park becomes a venue for festive events. As for the monitor lizards, to be honest, we didn't meet them during our walk, but they say that they definitely are here.
