General information

Veselovskaya Bay, Crimea
Veselovskaya Bay

The village of Veseloe is located in the valley of the Kutlak River on the southeastern slope of the Main ridge of the Crimean Mountains (Veseloe on the map of Crimea). Administratively part of the city district of Sudak and is sometimes considered as one of its suburbs or remote beaches. Himself sudak city located 10 kilometers to the east, even closer Novy Svet settlement, but you can get to it by road only by making a fair circle through Sudak, or on foot on the tourist trail through Mount Karaul-Oba. To the north of the village passes the highway R-29, connecting Alushta and Feodosia. The nearest settlements are the villages of Mesopotamia and Morskoe.

The history of the village goes back to ancient times. Back in the I century BC, there was a military fortification at this place, which entered the annals as the Kutlak fortress. In the Middle Ages, the Turks ruled here, and the village itself, called Kutlak at that time, was part of the Crimean Khanate.

In 1944, the village was renamed Veseloye. Currently, it is famous for its wines, as one of the factories of the Massandra wine company is located on its territory, where vintage dessert wines are produced.

Rest in Vesely

The village of Veseloe, Crimea
The beach of the village of Veseloe

The village of Veseloe is hardly a full-fledged resort. This is rather a place where you can come to relax for a day from Sudak, since there are deserted beaches here. As a place for a long rest, it is suitable only for real "Robinsons" with tents and a car, since there is almost no infrastructure and amenities in the beach area.

The Black Sea and the beach are located four kilometers from the center of the village. An asphalt road leads to the coast from the village, which then branches off and turns into a primer along the beaches. On the right there is a beautiful, partially landscaped pebble-sandy beach with gray sand, about two kilometers long. There are the least pebbles on the left (with the groans of the Novy Svet and Walleye), while there are more pebbles on the other side. But even where the shore is completely sandy, a couple of meters from the water, the bottom is still covered with pebbles.

The road along the beach

There is no embankment, a dirt road runs along the entire coast, separated from the beach by a wooden fence. The water is clean, transparent, because large vessels do not enter the Kutlak (Veselovskaya) Bay. From the east, the spurs of the mountain known as Karaul-Oba, or Karaul Peak, hang over the bay. On the western side, the bay is bounded by the Cape Ai-Foka. There are very few vacationers on the beach, even in the highest season.

In summer, a bus runs from the village to the beach, but only one per day. In general, without your own transport, rest here will not be very comfortable.

Entertainment and attractions

Rest in the village of Veseloye will appeal to those who want peace and solitude, because there are few tourists here even in high season. There is practically no entertainment here, you will have to organize your own leisure time.

After swimming in the sea and warming up under the warm southern sun, you can go for a walk around the neighborhood. The region is unique: relict royal juniper, pine, strawberry, the purest springs are just some representatives of the kingdom of flora. Here begins a wonderful hiking trail to the village of Novy Svet through the reserve and Mount Karaul-Oba. A little further from the reserve begins the valley of Hell and Paradise — "the land of ancient Brands", shrouded in centuries-old legends and myths. In the valley, if you go further along the trail, you can see the "Crystal Slide", where rock crystal is mined. And when you finish your route in the village of Novy Svet, you can swim on one of the most beautiful beaches of the Crimea – Tsarskoye Beach, walk along the Golitsyn trail, and finish the hike with a visit to the champagne and wine factory "Novy Svet".

History lovers can also visit the ancient fortress of Assandra, also known as the fortress of Kutlak. Its ruins are located on the western slope of Mount Karaul-Oba. In the village itself, a fountain built in the XIV century has been preserved.

In addition to the above described, there is no entertainment in the village of Vesely.

Infrastructure in Vesely

The village of Veseloe, Crimea
The infrastructure is "slightly" running here

The infrastructure of the village of Veseloe is not very developed yet. Hotels and the private sector are located in the village itself, four kilometers from the beach, and there are only a few hotels and guest houses with basic amenities near the beach. There is a well-equipped campsite with cabins three hundred meters from the shore, but in the 2016 season it was abandoned. There are no convenient places to exit by car and set up tents right on the beach, but you can stop at a large parking lot next to the unfinished building just 30 meters from the shore, and set up a tent there.

In general, in general, the impressions of the infrastructure near the beach remain the saddest: a feeling of abandonment and desolation. Campsites are abandoned, paths and stairs to the beach are broken, unfinished buildings-ghosts spoil the whole view. There are a couple of simple cafes and a shop near the beach, but they work only in the highest season. The main shopping and tourists and residents themselves prefer to spend in Sudak, which can be reached by bus or taxi. There you can also find entertainment: a water park, a walking Cypress alley, cinemas, discos, restaurants, a bowling club. Well, you definitely need to visit the Genoese Fortress in Sudak.

How to get to the village of Veseloe

The village of Veseloye can be reached by intercity buses from the cities of Crimea and Simferopol airport, by suburban buses from Sudak, by taxi. The convenient location next to the P-29 highway makes it accessible on passing intercity bus routes from Alushta and Yalta to Sudak. But in order to get to the beach in the village of Veseloe, everything is much more complicated.

Most often they get to Veseloye through Sudak. To do this, you first need to get to the Sudak bus station (there are many flights from the airport, Simferopol, Feodosia, Kerch, Sevastopol, Yalta, see more details on How to get to Sudak). There you need to transfer to a local commuter bus, which costs 15 rubles, departs in the summer (May-September) from 06:00 to 23:00 according to occupancy, approximately every 3 hours. From the village to the beach you will have to continue to get on foot or by hitchhiking, which, by the way, are quite rare here. The only bus from Sudak bus station directly to the beach goes only once a day at 6 am.

If a trip with several transfers on local transport does not suit you, then from Simferopol airport you can get here by taxi from 2,400 rubles. You can order a transfer through the search form, and a car with a driver will be waiting at the airport upon arrival:
