General information
Selo Morskoe it is located in the south-east of Crimea in the Kapsikhor Valley on the Alushta – Sudak highway, on the Black Sea coast (Morskoe on the map of Crimea). Refers to the urban district Sudak and sometimes regarded by tourists as its remote beach. The population as of 2014 is 2394 people. The residential stock of the Sea is private one-story blocks stretching along the Shelen riverbed for about 2 km. On the West and east sides, the village is surrounded by mountain hills, which are natural barriers that protect the resort from the winds.
Until 1945, the village was called Kapsihor, which in Greek means "burnt village". It is believed that the name came from the yellow-red grass covered hills surrounding the Valley. If you look at these hills from afar, it seems as if they are engulfed in flames. The village also has a modern history: it was here in 1981 that Viktor Tsoi and his musicians decided to organize the legendary Kino group, and on this occasion a monument in the form of a guitar was erected on the embankment.
Rest in the Sea
The relatively calm rural environment and the distance from the nearest city (20 km to Sudak) determine the contingent of vacationers. Basically, these are people who prefer passive recreation – the older generation and families with children. But do not think that once this village, here is a real wilderness. In high season, the sea turns into a real beach resort, filled with tourists and some entertainment. Even young people here will not be bored: there are traditional entertainment on the beaches, restaurants and cafes, discos. But the most important thing in the Sea is its many kilometers of Sandy and Pebble Beach and clear water.
Prices for holidays in the Sea are very low. For example, a room for two with air conditioning even at the height of the season can be found from 800 rubles.
There is another category of vacationers seeking to get here-these are road travelers. Outside the village there are several convenient exits to the beach, and there is a spontaneous tent camp there all season.
Beach in Morskoe
The beach consists of small or large pebbles mixed with gray sand, not wide and long. It stretches continuously for as much as five kilometers. Sand lies mainly a few meters from the water's edge, and the entrance to the water and the bottom are covered with pebbles, which is very convenient. The descent into the water is gentle, comfortable. Sun beds are offered for rent (100 rubles 4 hours, 200 rubles all day), umbrellas and equipment for scuba diving. There are traditional water activities such as banana rides, rental of jet skis and catamarans, etc. There are changing booths, a paid toilet (10 USD), a foot wash.
Unfortunately, there is no beautiful and picturesque promenade here, it is replaced by a concrete and dilapidated path that stretches between the sand and a chain of cafes and boarding houses on the first line. Another disadvantage is the highway stretching along the entire beach, and to get from the main residential area, you will have to cross the road every time. Close proximity to the road makes the rest not very comfortable.
In high season, there are a lot of vacationers on the beach directly in the area of the village, but it is worth moving a little to the side, as the coast becomes much more deserted.
Entertainment and attractions
The sea is not rich in sights. The remains of the dilapidated Tasili Castle with Choban-Kule Towercan attract the attention of vacationers. On the outskirts of the village on the east side, on Cape AI-Foka, you can explore the ruins of an ancient monastery, visit a small grove of rare Pitsunda Pine. In the center of the village is the Kapsihor mosque. You can also go by bus or car to get acquainted with sights of Sudak or Alushta. Even from here you can independently go to the Green Mountains and the Panagia gorge by bus. On the street, travel agencies and distributors offer excursions to all corners of the Crimea, organized horseback riding or cycling in the surrounding area.
Entertainment in the Sea is not very much, but you will not die of boredom. The beach offers rental of water scooters, catamarans and skis, there are inflatable children's slides. Every summer, touring circus groups come here, an amusement park with simple children's attractions. Right on the beach there is a night club and many cafes with music for every taste and a view of the sea. There are also small restaurants and summer cafes under canopies, where you can have lunch and spend the evening, play billiards.
Infrastructure
The infrastructure in Morskoye in the high season is developed perfectly, especially if you consider that this is a village. Of course, there are no large shops and shopping and entertainment centers in the sea, but everything that is needed during the rest is available. Many shops, shops and a mini market on the main street of Karl Marx offer food, fresh fruit, essential goods, goods for tourists, souvenirs. There is a branded liquor store "Massandra". A chain of cafes and restaurants is located right on the waterfront, many establishments on the main street. There you can also find inexpensive cafes and canteens in which anyone can afford to eat daily. Prices in stores here are slightly higher than in Sudak, but generally affordable.
There is a pharmacy (Shevchenko Street, 22), a post office, a hospital, and even a house of culture.
Hotels and accommodation in the village of Morskoe
In the sea there are more than a dozen hotels and boarding houses. Most of them are private mini-hotels, but there are also several large hotels. In high season it is better to book in advance. Unfortunately, due to the popularity and "promotion" of the resort, the prices for hotel accommodation here are somewhat overstated.
But you can seriously save money if you stay in the private sector. Most locals rent rooms, apartments or houses entirely, so there will be no problems with finding housing, even if you come and look on the spot. Prices start from 300 rubles for a bed, from 600 rubles for a simple room for two with amenities on the street, and for 800 you can settle in a room for two with air conditioning and amenities in the room.
Several campsites in the outskirts of the Sea will allow you to relax for free. As of 2016, we did not find equipped campsites with electricity and fresh water in the sea, but there are plenty of places with free parking.
- At the entrance to the village from the Sudak side there is a large green area with a not very convenient pedestrian descent to the beach, but there is a stream with fresh water nearby (not suitable for drinking, but you can wash). Camping on the map.
- If you drive further beyond the village in the direction of Alushta, there are convenient descents to the beach directly by car, and it is there that most lovers of road trips stop. Camping on the map.
- Another site is located at the foot of the mountain with the tower of Choban-Kule, and is suitable for those who want to relax in seclusion. Camping on the map.
