General information

Kurortnoye, Crimea
Shore at Cape Krabiy

Resort - a tiny village in Crimea on the Black Sea coast, part of a large Feodosiya. The permanent population is just over 300 people. Located 30 kilometers from Feodosia and 15 kilometers from Koktebel (Kurortnoye on the map of Crimea), off the main road. From the point of view of transport it is a dead end, and from this it is a very calm and Quiet Place.

The village of Kurortnoye is a moderately popular beach resort, and will not suit everyone. This place is very calm, there is no entertainment, there are no natural beauties and attractions, except for the nearby Karadag Reserve. You should not even think about any night life and evening entertainment. Resort is suitable for those who do not need any fuss and entertainment except the beach, I just want a relaxing holiday on the beach. Even as an option-the resort is suitable for families with children, but it should be noted that there is no children's entertainment, except for the Dolphinarium and several temporary attractions on the embankment. Young and active people looking for adventures and Hangouts on vacation, it will certainly seem boring.

Kurortny Embankment

The tourist infrastructure here is poorly developed. There is a post office, several shops, a pharmacy, on the embankment in high season there are cafes and shops with tourist goods and souvenirs, simple children's attractions. There are only a few boarding houses, a couple of inexpensive guest houses have opened. Basically, tourists do not have much choice yet, and you have to stay in rented housing with a minimum of Service. With the search for a room or a whole house there are no problems: it is enough just to appear in the village, as the first person you meet will offer housing for rent.

When searching for hotels in Crimea on Booking.com you will most likely receive a message- "no options found". This is a limitation booking.com because of the sanctions. But to get around it and book accommodation in the Crimea is very simple, you just need to turn on the "traveling for work" tick. Weather and tourist seasons in the resort

The resort is best visited between July and September. Although the first vacationers appear here earlier, the water in May-June is not yet warm enough, besides, the tourist infrastructure here unfolds only in the high season, and outside it the embankment is almost empty, nothing works.

Beaches in the resort

  • City Beach and promenade

    Kurortnoye, Crimea
    City Beach

The City Beach is pebbly, in some places there is a large gray-black sand. It stretches along a concrete embankment and is divided by concrete breakwaters. If you move further to the edge of the village in the direction of Fox Bay, the breakwaters disappear.

The view from the resort beach is not the most impressionable, but there are not very many tourists here even in the highest season. The length of the entire coastline with beaches is almost 2 kilometers, of which about half a kilometer is the embankment. It is the center of the entire tourist life of the village: there are cafes, alcohol is sold, tents with souvenirs work, in the season there are simple children's attractions.

🚶 How to get there: you can reach the City Beach on foot from anywhere in the resort (Beach on the map)

  • Beaches of Cape "Krabiy"

    Kurortnoye, Crimea
    Volcanic mud on the beach

Near the village in walking distance on the way to the beach "Fox Bay" is Cape "Krabiy". Almost the entire coast here is rocky, but there are several secluded places where you can go into the water. However, be careful, because under water there may still be sharp rocks. These beaches are attractive because there are large fossilized pieces of volcanic mud right on the shore, which can be used for cosmetic procedures (see more about the therapeutic mud of the Crimea). In general, these beaches should not be considered as comfortable and safe.

🚶 How to get there: you can get there on foot along the coast in the direction of "Fox Bay" (Beach on the map)

  • Fox Bay

    Kurortnoye, Crimea
    View of Fox Bay

Two and a little kilometers along the coast from the village behind the Cape "Krabiy" is the most popular nudist beach in the Crimea "Fox Bay". Mostly nudists and naturalists rest here in tents, there is no housing there. From the infrastructure in the high season there are several tents with the most necessary, cafes. The beach itself is very good: Sandy with pebbles, but more sandy. There is clear clean water, beautiful views (and not only on vacationers, but also on the surroundings), the coast itself is cleaner than in the village.

🚶 How to get there: Along the shore to the beach "Fox Bay" leads a difficult path along the sea, in some places you will need to move over large boulders, and at high tide go knee-deep in water (Beach on the map. By transport, it can only be reached by a dirt road that begins outside the village.

  • Beaches of the Kara-Dag nature reserve

On the coast of the Kara-Dag reserve there are several cozy beaches surrounded by rocks.

🚶 How to get there: you can not get there yourself, only with a boat tour.

How to get to Kurortnoye

Kurortnoye is located 30 kilometers from Feodosia and 15 kilometers from Koktebel (Kurortnoye on the map of Crimea). It's a dead-end locality and there isn't even a bus station. The easiest way to get here is by taxi (a taxi ride from Simferopol airport will cost from 3000 USD), but you can do the route by bus, although in most cases you will have to make transfers.

Only two bus flights are made here: a daily flight from Simferopol and a suburban route No. 101 Feodosia-Koktebel-Kurortnoye worth 24 rubles.

You can also book a taxi from Simferopol airport to Kurortny through the search form, and the driver will be waiting for you on arrival:

  • From Feodosia and Koktebel to Kurortnoye by bus No. 101

Commuter route No. 101 departs from the final stop in Feodosia opposite the PUD supermarket (formerly ATB) (end on the map) and continue to the stop "Biostation"(on the map). The cost is 24 rubles, about 40 minutes on the way. According to the schedule, this bus departs every 20 minutes, but in practice, in the daytime, drivers arrange a big lunch for themselves, and you can wait for departure for several hours.

  • From Simferopol and Simferopol airport to Kurortnoye by bus

From Simferopol from the bus station-2 "Kurortnaya" there is a single daily flight to the village, but the departure time is very inconvenient – 06:15, back from Kurortny 10:15, 2 hours on the way. From the airport to the bus station-2 "Kurortnaya" can be reached by any trolleybus and bus, you can read more here - How to get to Simferopol.

If the flight at 06:15 does not suit you, then it is much more convenient to make a route with a transfer in Koktebel or Feodosia, and it is more convenient to go through Koktebel.

  • Through Koktebel to Kurortnoye

Koktebel can be reached by bus directly from the airport and bus stations of Simferopol and other cities of the Crimea. The station in Koktebel is right on the main road, and it is also possible to transfer to the suburban bus number 101 from Feodosia to the Biostation (see below) in the village. You can also take a taxi from 400 rubles per car, but you need to bargain.

  • Through Feodosia to Kurortnoye

It is not as convenient to go through Feodosia as through Koktebel, since you will have to move between bus stations. All intercity buses arrive in Feodosia at the intercity station, and suburban buses depart from the terminal located at the other end of the city. To get to it, you need to take the city bus number 2 (payment of 10 USD). At the end you need to transfer to route No. 101 (payment 24 USD).

Attractions and entertainment in the resort

Near the resort is one of the most striking natural attractions of the eastern Crimea – Karadag nature reserve, and the village offers the best view of the mountain - the extinct volcano Karadag. In the resort there is the headquarters of the reserve - a scientific biostation, from here almost all tourist routes along it begin. On the territory of the headquarters there is a dolphinarium, an aquarium, a museum and a park. On the other side of the village is the Echi-Dag mountain range - also an interesting place for trekking, and you can visit it yourself. This is where all the sights of the village of Kurortnoye end. But if you want to see more interesting places, then on the embankment you can easily buy excursions to all corners of the Crimea. It is also quite easy to get by bus to Feodosia or Koktebel, and get acquainted with their sights.

    Echki-Dag Mountain
    Echki-Dag Mountain

Translated from Crimean Tatar, Echki-Dag means "Goat Mountain". This is the generalized name of three mountain peaks stretching for 3 km between Shchebetovka and Sunny Valley. The northern peak is called Kokush-Kaya, is a rocky triangular peak. The eastern peak of Echki-Dag was overgrown with Forest. And in the South is the peak of Chal-Kaya-the highest point of the ridge, rising 670 m above sea level. m. from the peaks there are spectacular views of the surrounding area: the village of Kurortny, Kara-Dag, Cape Meganom, etc. are perfectly visible.

The whole mountain range was in ancient times the bottom of the sea and consists of calcareous deposits, like a layer cake. The entire surface of the mountains is cut by numerous ravines and gullies, piles of stones and caves. One of the most famous caves is the ear Earth karst fault. According to legend, it has no bottom and leads to the center of the Earth. But speleologists who have explored the cave claim that its depth is 132 m. It is very narrow and winding. And descent into it without special equipment and training is prohibited. Learn more about Mount Echki-Dag here.
