Attention! In our experience, a transfer from the airport to the vacation spot offered by guesthouse owners after booking was one and a half times higher than an official taxi or a transfer booked online, and the trip back was offered three times more expensive. Therefore, we advise you to be extremely careful when agreeing to such offers, and it is better to check current prices beforehand to avoid overpaying private individuals.
If you prefer everything to be planned in advance and your trip to be comfortable, then book a ready-made tourist transfer with a driver meeting at the airport on the websites kiwitaxi.com or intui.travel, or through this search form from kiwitaxi:

The journey from Simferopol train station to Sudak will take 2-3 hours. You can get there by taxi or direct buses:
- Taxi from 2000 rubles. You can find a car on the spot in the parking lot, by phone from local taxi companies, or on transfer booking sites like intui.travel. We do not recommend dealing with local "gypsy cabs" in the parking lot, as they charge almost twice as much as a taxi ordered by phone.
- By bus from 400 rubles. Next to the train station is the "Kurortnaya" bus station, also known as "Simferopol AS-2". From there, buses to Sudak depart every 15-30 minutes, travel time two and a half hours. You can buy tickets on the spot at the ticket office, or book them on bus.tutu.ru or unitiki.com.
By bus
You can get to Sudak by intercity bus from cities on the Crimean peninsula, as well as on routes from the "mainland" part of Russia from nearby regions. There are routes at least from Astrakhan, Belgorod, Krasnodar, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don, Novorossiysk. The most frequent routes are from Simferopol. There are also routes from the airport, from Yevpatoria via Bakhchysarai, Kerch, Dzhankoy, from Feodosia via Koktebel, Sevastopol. Unfortunately, stable and frequent buses run only from the airport and Simferopol; on other routes, they run rarely and seasonally.
You can check the bus schedule to Sudak from Crimean cities on the official website of the Crimean carrier https://krimavtotrans.info/raspisanie.html. And you can see the schedule of all intercity routes and book tickets on bus.tutu.ru or unitiki.com. If there is a controversial issue with the schedules, as the information in the specified sources does differ, you can call the station for clarification at tel. 8 (36566) 3-46-15 or +7 (3652) 54-56-80. Here is the schedule from the Yandex.Schedule service.

How to get to Sudak from the bus station
All buses arrive in Sudak at the bus station, which is located on the outskirts of the city, at 32 Gvardeyskaya Street (station on the map). Tickets are also sold there, and it is better to purchase them in advance at the ticket office itself or online on the sites mentioned above. You can also buy tickets at an additional bus ticket office on Cypress Alley (ticket office on the map), open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
From the bus station to the city center, you can take a local city bus (their parking area is nearby on a separate site). The fare is 27 rubles when paying in cash, and 22 rubles by card. Almost all buses go to the center of Sudak, but their routes differ; you can check on the spot or check them in advance on the Yandex map to see which one suits you better. If you need to go to Novy Svet, then route No. 5 will suit you, it runs every 20 minutes. We have detailed more about buses in Sudak here.
A taxi to the center will cost from 200 rubles, to Novy Svet – from 400 rubles. But such prices are available only when ordering a car by phone from an official taxi company or through the local application or website of the "Solnyshko" taxi. Uber, YandexGo and other aggregator apps do not work here due to sanctions. Taxi drivers who "stay on duty" at the bus station and "intercept" arriving vacationers can easily ask for 500 rubles or more for a trip of a couple of kilometers to your hotel. Therefore, you need to bargain with them, and toughly, because they have an agreement and do not lower the price in front of each other. We (the site authors) managed to bring the prices down only after leaving the bus station area, so you can try to do the same, or simply order a car by phone.
By car to Sudak
By car from Russian regions to Crimea, you need to enter via the new Crimean Bridge; passage is free. It is also now possible to enter Crimea through the territory of the DNR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, and travelers and tourists are already driving along this route calmly. But given the location of Sudak, it is still more convenient and shorter to get here via the bridge.
Attention! The passage of all electric vehicles and cars with a hybrid engine, including passenger cars, is prohibited. No information is available on when the restriction will be lifted, so it will likely be for a very long time or forever. Instead of the bridge, such cars are advised to use the land route through the "new" regions. We have already driven this road and recorded a detailed video, you can watch it here.
After entering the peninsula from Kerch to Sudak, the route can be planned using one of these options:
- Via Stary Krym. This is a 160-kilometer route that first passes along the magnificent "Tavrida" highway, and then you will have to drive on old roads through hilly terrain and forests. The journey will take 2 hours.
- Via Feodosia and Koktebel. This road is 10 kilometers shorter, but slightly longer in time. It runs along the coast through resorts, but you will not enter Feodosia itself, you will pass by.
If you want to visit interesting places along the way, you will find something interesting on any of these routes. You can make a stop in Stary Krym and get acquainted with its historical attractions, which will take a few hours. If you go along the coast, you will mainly encounter natural beauty and viewpoints.
When traveling by car for a vacation in Sudak, it would not be superfluous to decide on a parking spot in advance. It is best to do this at the stage of searching and booking accommodation, and check with the accommodation whether it is possible to park the car for free somewhere nearby. Unfortunately, this is not possible everywhere in the center of the resort.
The same goes for parking while driving around the city. For example, on the central streets of Lenina or Gagarina, near the embankment and Cypress Alley, near the market, it is very difficult to find a free parking spot: everything is either occupied or there are prohibitory signs. You can use a paid parking lot at the beginning of Cypress Alley, but this will cost from 50 rubles/hour. There is also no space near the Sudak Fortress. If you go to Novy Svet, you will have to park your car in a paid parking lot for 100 rubles/hour.
Of course, things are not so bad with parking spaces, and an experienced driver can always find a place to park the car within walking distance of tourist spots. But still be careful not to disturb any local residents, not to block exits or passages. Otherwise, you may encounter the trouble so eloquently warned about by this sign in Sudak:
