Karaul-Oba mountain and is it worth to visit

Karaul-Oba mountain range located west of Novy Svet village. This is the territory of the Novy Svet nature reserve, through which a popular hiking route passes along the mountain. On the route you will see a juniper Grove, magnificent mountain and seascapes, the ancient sanctuary "staircase of the Tauri", which is more than 2500 years old, and many more interesting things. Of course, you can visit the very top of Karaul-Oba, whose height is 341 meters, but only if you follow the appropriate route. The trail ends on the shore of Veselovskaya Bay (Veseloe village), where you can see another attraction-the ruins of the fortress Kutlak (aka fortress Asandra), built in the 1st century BC.

To overcome the route of Karaul-Oba, you should put on comfortable hiking shoes, stock up on water and strength. Special training is not required, but the elderly and children here can not do without help, because in some places the descents and ascents are vertical. On the route there and back it is better to take a full day, in one direction it can be overcome in 1-2 hours.

The Karaul-Oba route is quite intricate, and there is a lot of interesting things on it, so it is best to visit it together with those who have already passed it, or at least use the Navigator (map). If you are going there for the first time and on your own, then the following practical information will be useful to you:

There are several such routes at once, but the most basic ones are designated as Route No. 1 and Route No. 2. The most popular route is No. 2.

• Route #2

  

  It runs along the coast and is best marked along the way with Marks and arrows, besides, you can always meet someone along it and ask for direction. This route offers wonderful views of the coast from the observation decks, you will pass by the observation deck "Bonsai over the Royal Beach", through the "Valley Of Hell", "refrigerator".

  Be sure to make a stop on this route near the crevice "refrigerator". You can find it by the inscription "cold" on the rock next to the crevice itself (also marked on our map below). This is a narrow through crevice in the rock, and you can climb a little into it, and it is interesting that cool air constantly comes out of it, like from a real refrigerator. So it's a great place to stop along the way and take a breather from the heat.

  Route No. 2 does not pass through the "Valley Of Paradise", The "Staircase of the brands", the peak of "Cosmos" and the peak of Karaul-Oba. But at a certain point of the route you can go very steeply up and get into the "Valley Of Paradise", from where in turn you can get to the "staircase of the brands" and the peak of the "cosmos". Therefore, you can take the route in one direction as No. 2, and in the opposite direction go through the top, i.e. through the "Valley of Paradise".

• Route #1

  Route No. 1 is much more difficult and passes through the "Valley Of Paradise" and then the top of Karaul-Oba (342 meters). Also on it you can go to the "staircase of the brands" and the peak of the "cosmos "from the "Valley of paradise", for which you have to deviate a little from the route, and then return to it again.
