How to get to Teberda

Teberda is located 1600 kilometers from Moscow and 22 kilometers from the popular ski Dombai resort (Teberda on the map). Unfortunately, getting here is not such an easy task, since Transport is poorly developed. By plane or train you will first have to get to Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol, Nevinnomyssk, Rostov-On-Don, and from there transfer to a taxi or bus, and sometimes also with a transfer. There are very few direct buses from the regions of the Russian Federation to Teberda. The only way to get here directly without transfers is to go by car. In the high season (in winter), direct commercial flights of tourist buses to Dombay can be launched from Kislovodsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg and other regions, on which you can get to Teberda.

By plane

In Karachay-Cherkessia there is not a single passenger airport at all, and the nearest ones are in Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol, Krasnodar. It is most convenient to get through Mineralnye Vody airport, since it is closer, and many low-cost flights from Russian cities and abroad are operated to it.

Mineralnye Vody International Airport (IATA code: MRV, airport website - http://mvairport.ru/) – one of the largest in this region. It operates flights from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-On-Don, Yekaterinburg and many other cities. There are also international flights to Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Dubai, Yerevan, Baku, Thessaloniki. Some flights are only in high season (summer). In any case, you can always fly with a transfer in Moscow or Rostov-on-Don, if there are no direct flights from your region.

How to get from the airport to Teberda

Airport Minvod is located 180 kilometers from Teberda (Mineralnye Vody airport on the map), and the task of getting there cheaply is not so easy. Therefore, the best option is to use a taxi or tourist transfer.

Unfortunately, simply ordering a taxi from the airport to Teberda will be a challenge, as not every driver is willing to go that far and for reasonable money. But you can order a tourist transfer by car, which will be more profitable if you travel in a group. You can order a car for 4, or a minivan up to 7 travelers. If a taxi is too expensive for you, then you will have to go with a transfer to Mineralnye Vody according to the following scheme:

• 1. First, from the airport by taxi for about 130 rubles, or by minibus No. 11 for 15 rubles (run every 20-30 minutes, on the way 20 minutes) you need to get to the new Mineralnye Vody bus station. Minibus number 11 does not go directly to the bus station, but to the stop, from where the bus station is 10 minutes on foot, so a taxi is preferable.
• 2.from the Minvod bus station, a bus departs daily at 14:45 to Teberda, the cost is 461 rubles, 6 hours on the way. Arrives at the conditional bus station in the center of Teberda at Dombayskaya STR., 2 (Teberdy bus station on the map. Back from Teberda, the same flight departs in the morning at 06:35.

By bus

Buses arrive/depart at the conditional bus station in the center of Teberda at Dombayskaya STR., 2 (Teberda bus station on the map). In fact, it is just a bus stop even without a ticket office. To the bus station, transport passes almost through the whole city, and you can ask to stop in another convenient place for you, or get from the stop to the hotel in Teberda by taxi for 80 rubles.

There are very few direct buses to Teberda from the cities of the Russian Federation. We are only aware of the following:

• Mineralnye Vody-Teberda

  Cost 461 rubles, 6 hours on the road. Passes through Pyatigorsk, Essentuki and Kislovodsk.

  • Departure from Minvod at 14:45
  • Departure from Teberda at 06:35

All these buses pass through Karachayevsk and Cherkessk.

By train

To get to Teberda by train, you will have to change trains. You need to go by train to Mineralnye Vody, Nevinnomyssk, Stavropol, Nalchik.

The easiest and most reliable option is to go through Mineralnye Vody. To the railway station Mineralnye Vody in high season there are a huge number of trains from At least Moscow, St. Petersburg, Adler, Orsk, Yekaterinburg, Novokuznetsk, Kirov, Rostov-On-Don, Baku, Grozny, Novorossiysk, Vladikavkaz, Irkutsk, Tynda and many more cities along their routes. The schedule may change by season, you can specify on the official website of Russian Railways.

From the railway station you will also have to take a taxi or a tourist transfer to Teberda (see above) from the airport, or take a bus with a transfer. To take the bus, you need to get from the railway station to the new Minvod bus station by taxi or city bus/minibus No. 11 (See above).

By car

This is perhaps the preferred option for traveling to this region. Not only can you get here directly by car, but you can also navigate the region by visiting Dombay, Arkhyz, and you can also capture resorts of the Stavropol Territory and Adygea. It is especially good to come here by SUV, since some car tourist routes are only available on them.

The road to the city of Teberda is excellent, and continues further up to Dombay. The road is undergoing reconstruction in 2019-2020, so it should become even safer. But sometimes there are problems due to the weather and difficult terrain: landslides, mudslides, flooding and large hail. Therefore, before the trip itself, it is better to clarify the state of the roads through news portals.

At the entrance to Teberda there is a network gas station "Rosneft", and in the city" Bashneft" and "South-Transneft". The price of fuel is 20-40 kopecks higher than in the major cities of Karachay-Cherkessia.

Transport Teberdy, what to move around the city

There is no public transport in the city, and the city is quite small, you can move around it on foot. But to get from one end of the city to the other, to get to the hotel from the bus station, to Dombay or to the beginning of the tourist route, you will have to take a taxi. A trip around the city will cost from 80 to 120 rubles, you can get to Dombay for 450 rubles. For longer trips, they ask for 15 rubles per kilometer. Theoretically, you can use Yandex. money and other applications, but keep in mind that there are usually no machines through applications. Therefore, most likely you will have to order a taxi by phone (numbers are placed everywhere in the city on ads, or ask the hotel where you will stay), or catch on the street.
