Mineralnye Vody (Minvody, Mineralnye Vody) - a city in the south of Russia in the Stavropol Territory, 1500 kilometers from Moscow and 170 kilometers from Stavropol (Mineralnye Vody on the map of the region. The population of the city is slightly less than 75 thousand people.
Despite the common misconception that Mineralnye Vody is a resort, in fact the city is not a full-fledged resort. There are no own healing sources of mineral water, and those sanatoriums that offer therapeutic procedures use imported water. There is no developed tourist infrastructure, few attractions and entertainment. The confusion seems to arise from the term Caucasian mineral waters (CMS), which includes several resorts in this region: Kislovodsk, Pyatigorsk, Zheleznovodsk, Essentuki, etc. At the same time, the city of Minvody is one of the least attractive for tourists among them.
However, the city is important for tourists and travelers as the main transport hub through which you can get to other resorts of the CMS. There is an airport and a junction railway station, from where you can get to other resort cities by taxi, buses or trains. And through Minvody it is convenient to get to Dombay, Arkhyz, Teberda, in the Elbrus region.

Tourist infrastructure in the city is poorly developed. There are almost no travel agencies, few excursions and specialized tourist services are offered. In fact, there is only one developed street 22 Party Congress, along which there are shops and shopping centers, there are cafes and bars. On the dividing strip of this street is a neat clean pedestrian zone. Another pedestrian zone runs along Karl Marx Avenue.
The situation in Minvody is very calm and quiet, without fuss as in large resort cities. But very well developed transport in order to get to other resorts. Moreover, you do not even have to stay in the city, and you can leave immediately from the airport or railway station.
If you still need to stay in Mineralnye Vody, then this can be done in one of several dozen hotels or in private apartments. Prices are quite reasonable, but in the summer season it is better to book accommodation in advance.

Weather, tourist seasons
Mineralnye Vody is not a year-round resort, although if you come here only to improve your health in one of the sanatoriums, you can go at any time of the year. Winter in Minvody is not very cold. Usually, the temperature from December to February rarely falls below -5, most often it stays around 0.
The best time to travel, and the high tourist season is in May-October.

How to get to Mineralnye Vody
Mineralnye Vody is the main transport hub of the resorts of the Caucasian mineral waters. You can get here by plane, train, bus from the cities of the Russian Federation and neighboring regions, and then transfer to buses or take a taxi directly to Pyatigorsk, Essentuki, Kislovodsk, Zheleznogorsk. Also through Mineralnye Vody it is convenient to get to the resorts Dombay, Arkhyz, Teberda in Karachaevo-Cherkessia, and in the Elbrus region.
Mineralnye Vody International Airport (IATA code: MRV, airport site - http://mvairport.ru/) – one of the largest airports in the region, the main gateway to the resorts of the Stavropol Territory. Located 4 kilometers from the city center (Mineralnye Vody airport on the map). There are regular flights from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg and many other cities. There are also international flights to Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Dubai, Yerevan, Baku, Thessaloniki.
In Minvody there is a railway station, where long-distance trains arrive, as well as suburban trains (electric trains) from the cities of the Stavropol Territory and neighboring regions. Long-distance trains to Minvody can be reached at least from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Adler, Orsk, Yekaterinburg, Novokuznetsk, Kirov, Rostov-On-Don, Baku, Grozny, Novorossiysk, Vladikavkaz, Irkutsk, Tynda, Samara, and many other cities along their routes.

Transport, how to move around the city
In Mineralnye Vody, there is a public transport system of 20 with a small number of minibuses (fixed-route taxis), and five suburban bus flights. They can be reached almost anywhere in the city, to the airport, as well as to Kislovodsk and Pyatigorsk. Buses run from 6 am to 19-20 pm depending on the route. The interval of movement is from 10 to 60 Minutes.

Mineralnye Vody attractions, what to see
In Minvody there are no attractions for which it is worth coming here. Here you can get acquainted only with the sights that can be found in any provincial city, and nothing more: temples and monuments, several local museums, squares and parks. The history of the city began only at the beginning of the last century, so there is no remarkable architecture here. More or less interesting places can be visited only outside the city and in the neighboring resorts of the region, but you will have to get to them either by your own transport or by bus, since there are very few inexpensive group excursions in Mineralnye Vody. We could not find here a simple sightseeing tour of the city.
