AbkhaziaOne of the entertainment in Pitsunda is a visit to the concert of organ music, which are held inside Pitsunda Church (Church of the Apostle Andrew the first-called) on the territory of the architectural landmark Great Pitiunt. It is believed that the temple has unique acoustic properties,and therefore in Soviet times in 1975, a German organ was installed here by Alexander Schuke. Since then, organ concerts have been held here for the pleasure of tourists. Some even attribute miraculous healing properties to the sound and acoustic properties of the temple, but, of course, there is no evidence of this.
Of course, you will not see any show during the concerts, because everything takes place in the best tradition of Soviet amateur performance and is very delayed, but, anyway, if you are resting in Pitsunda, this concert is worth visiting. They are held once or twice a day, depending on the peak tourist season. Tickets are sold separately from the visit to the Great Pitiunt complex and are more expensive. At the same time, before the concert, you will be given a short tour of the temple and will be told about its history. Tickets should be purchased in advance, at least on the same day, but not immediately before the concert.
🕐 Working hours: the concert takes place at 17:00 and 20:00, in the low tourist season only at 17:00.
💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: tickets for the concert of organ music are purchased at a separate box office near the entrance to the Great Pitiunt, the cost is 600 rubles adults, 200 rubles children 6-11 years old. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed at the concert.
🚶 How to get there: concerts are held by Pitsunda in the temple, which is located on the territory of the architectural reserve "big Pitiunt", which, in turn, is located in the center of Pitsunda (temple on the map). Get from hotels in Pitsunda you can walk here, and from other cities of Abkhazia you will have to go either by bus or taxi, or buy an excursion.
