AbkhaziaTo be honest, in Gagara, in addition to beaches, there are not many places and entertainment that may interest your children. There is a water park, a dolphinarium and an amusement park with a Ferris wheel, but objectively speaking, they can only be liked by children from the far outback. And if your children have already been to Russian resorts or abroad, they will most likely be a little disappointed. We also could not identify any special attractions that will be of interest to children. Nevertheless, here is a list in which we have included entertainment and attractions that can interest them at least a little and diversify their vacation:
Gagra Water Park
This is the largest water park in Abkhazia (another water park in Abkhazia is located in Pitsunda), and perhaps the most popular entertainment for children and the whole family in the country and Gagra in particular. An open-air water park. There are slides of different types: for the youngest children, older and for adults, a total of 9 slides. There are 7 swimming pools with sun loungers and umbrellas, cafes with somewhat overpriced prices. Read more about the Gagra water park here.

🕐 Working hours: open only in summer from June 1 to September from 10:00 to 19:00.
💵 Entrance fee / ticket price: tickets are only for the whole day, there is no hourly payment. The price varies depending on the month and demand, in 2023 adults – 1800 rubles, children 4-10 years – 1300 rubles, up to 4 years free. The ticket is a one-time ticket, you can not go out and return using it.

From other resorts, you can also get to the water park by minibuses costing from 200 rubles, but you will have to get out on Demerdzhipa Street near the former Continent shopping center, and walk towards the embankment for 15-20 minutes.
Dolphinarium
This dolphinarium originally opened in Pitsunda in 2016, and it was the first and so far the only dolphinarium in Abkhazia. In 2022, he moved to Gagra and now works there, but there is no longer a dolphinarium in Pitsunda. The program for him was compiled in Sochi, as well as two dolphins and seals participating in the show. The dolphinarium is open-air, shows are held only in summer. Boat trips
One of the popular tourist attractions that are offered in Gagra is boat trips. You can go to the open sea with regular group tours along one of the two standard routes, or you can rent a boat with a captain and go to any place you wish. During such walks you will enjoy the fascinating views of the beautiful coast of Abkhazia, and with a high probability you will meet dolphins. They also offer a sea fisherman from a boat. 💵 Entrance fee / ticket price : tour duration of 1.5 hours – from 1500 rubles, duration of 2.5 hours – from 2500 rubles. Children under 6 years old – free of charge.
🚶 How to get there: The ship departs from the Central Beach from the embankment in Novaya Gagra near the Rotunda (new colonnade). Tickets can be purchased directly on the boat or you can buy a tour in advance from distributors of excursions on the embankment and streets, the price is the same everywhere. You can pay in cash or by transfer to a card.
Malibu Amusement Park and Ferris Wheel
Near the Gagra embankment there is a small children's amusement park for the youngest, and a Ferris wheel. The number and variety of attractions here will not surprise anyone, they will be interesting except for preschool children. There is a carousel, a trampoline, a children's railway and an "extreme" attraction "flying saucer" for children from 8 years old. Adults will be interested except to make a circle on the Ferris wheel overlooking the coast. 💵 Entrance fee / ticket price: children's attractions 200 rubles. Ferris wheel: regular cabin 400 for one lap, 500 rubles for 2 laps; extreme cabin with a glass bottom - 500, VIP - 700.

Water and beach activities
The beaches of Gagra offer traditional water activities for children and adults, which will help to diversify the monotonous lying on the beach a little. There are banana and pill rides, jet ski rentals, catamaran rentals and sap surf boards. Prices may seem very high compared to beach resorts in the Russian Federation, but here you can bargain, and in the evenings the "touts" themselves lower prices. For reference, here are the minimum rates for beach entertainment in 2023:
- Banana riding – from 500 rubles/person.
- Riding on a tablet – from 800 rubles / person.
- Catamaran rental – 1500 rubles/hour.
- Jet ski rental – 2000 rubles/10 minutes.
- Rental of a board for sap-surf – from 700 rubles / hour.

🚶 How to get there: water activities in Gagra are offered all over the resort's beaches, most of them in the area of Novaya Gagra, and in Old Gagra they appear at the peak of the season. There are no dedicated technical safety zones for water entertainment, and therefore catamarans and jet skis with touts dangerously float right between vacationers and invite them to ride in loudspeakers.
New Gagra Embankment
The New Gagra Embankment is one of the few places for quiet walks in this part of the resort. The total length of the entire embankment here is about one and a half kilometers, but the equipped and renovated part is about a kilometer long. Restaurants and cafes work on the embankment and along it, there are budget canteens, excursions to all corners of Abkhazia and even in Sochi are sold, there are souvenir shops. Old Gagra Embankment
The Old Gagra Embankment is a favorite vacation spot for residents and guests of the city, especially those who rest in this area of the resort. Its length is 2 kilometers, it stretches along the coast and the Seaside Park, paved with new paving slabs. It has been updated not so long ago and looks very well-groomed, which, to be honest, is a rarity for Abkhazia. It will be pleasant to walk along it both in the afternoon and in the evening, when it is beautifully illuminated by lanterns. The central part of the promenade along its entire length is decorated with a flowerbed with palm trees and ornamental shrubs, there are benches for relaxation. 🚶 How to get there: located in the center of Staraya Gagra near the Seaside Park, and stretches for two kilometers along the coast (embankment on the map). You can get here from the center of the resort (Novaya Gagra), and indeed from any other resort in Abkhazia, by buses and routes that run along the main road of the country, the Sukhumi highway, you can get off at the colonnade or the Abaata fortress.
Independence Memorial
The Independence Memorial is located on the main city square (Glory Park), and it is the cleanest and most well-groomed place in the city. The memorial was built in memory of those killed during the armed Georgian-Abkhaz conflict in 1992-93, the names of some of them are immortalized on the memorial. There are always fresh flowers and wreaths. Nearby there is a small area of clean renovated promenade, a children's amusement park on the beach, and a water park within walking distance. It will be interesting for children here that in the square around the memorial you can ride children's electric cars. But, of course, this entertainment is suitable only for the smallest. Seaside Park
The park stretches for about a kilometer along the beach in Staraya Gagra. It was founded in 1902 to decorate the resort on the initiative of the Prince of Oldenburg. To fill it with a variety of amazing plants, all kinds of exotic species were brought here from all over the world. Unfortunately, over the years of Abkhazia's independence, the park has fallen into disrepair, and today it is in a neglected and dilapidated state. However, on the territory of the park there is a playground with very simple old attractions, a tennis court, a rope park, a mini zoo (zoo corner). Learn more about the park here.
🕐 Working hours: The park is open around the clock, but it is better to visit it during daylight hours. With the advent of darkness, there is no lighting here, the park becomes a deserted and creepy place.

🚶 How to get there: The seaside Park stretches along almost the entire Stara Gagra district (park on the map). From Novaya Gagra, you can get here by minibus taxis costing 25 rubles, they stop right at the colonnade. A taxi ride will cost from 150 rubles.
