Why is Phu Quoc suitable for holidays with children?
When we were going to Phu Quoc, the main fear was a long flight. But it turned out that the game was worth the candle. That's what makes the island comfortable for a family holiday:
- Short journeys. Almost all key locations are within 30-40 minutes drive from the tourist area of Long Beach. No need to spend hours shaking on the bus, as in some other Asian resorts.
- Developed infrastructure. Hotels, restaurants and shopping centers have everything for children — high chairs, children's menus, rooms for mother and child.
- A huge amount of all-in-one entertainment. VinWonders and Sun World parks are whole universes where you can spend the whole day without thinking where to run next.
- Safety and goodwill. Vietnamese are very fond of children. Your child will be treated with a smile and attention in any institution.
Amusement parks: where to take your child first
This is the main reason why Phu Quoc breaks all records for children's delight. We have visited all the major parks and are ready to tell you what your children will like the most.

VinWonders Phu Quoc: a fantastic city for all ages
Entering VinWonders is already like entering a fairy tale This is not just a park, but a whole wonderland. You can spend the whole day here. The territory is divided into 6 thematic zones:
- World of adventure: Suitable for children from 6 years and teenagers. The rides are quite extreme — a roller coaster, a free fall tower.
- Water Park: An absolute hit for any age! There are slides for kids (shallow pools, mini-slides), and for adults. Tip: come to the opening, queues are gathering at the popular slides by noon.
- Oceanarium: Huge, one of the best in Asia. Children are fascinated by the underwater tunnel, where sharks and rays swim overhead. Be sure to check the feeding show schedule — it's an unforgettable sight.
- Fantasy World: Perfect for kids! Carousels, cars, everything is bright and safe.
💡 Our verdict: Take a ticket for the whole day. The best plan: morning at the water park, day at the aquarium and attractions, in the evening — a fountain show. With small children, take a stroller — you will have to walk a lot.
🚶 How to get there: Located in the northern part of Phu Quoc on the west coast (Grand World walking quarter on the map). It is easy to get on the free bus number17 or Number 19 from the Long Beach area. Taxi via Grab — from 150,000 VND.

Vinpearl Safari: safari in Vietnamese
Giraffes in Vinpearl Safari are the main stars for children If your child adores animals, this is a must-visit place. The park is divided into two parts: a zoo (walking) and a safari park (by special bus).
What you liked:
- The zoo has spacious enclosures and lots of interactive content. The child was able to feed the giraffe with his hand — the emotions were overwhelming.
- The safari Park is a 20—minute air-conditioned bus ride through areas where zebras, antelopes and even lions roam freely. Children stuck to the windows.
- Cleanliness and well-groomed. Despite the tropics, there are no unpleasant odors.
What is worth considering:
- The territory is huge. A stroller is a must have for toddlers.
- It is better to come to the opening while the animals are active. In the afternoon, many people hide from the heat.
💡 Our verdict: A great alternative if you are tired of rides. We advise you to buy a combined VinWonders + Safari ticket — it turns out to be more profitable. Learn more about Vinpearl Safari Zoo we wrote here.
Phu Quoc beaches: where it's safe to swim with children
Not all Phu Quoc beaches are equally good for kids. We toured the most popular and selected those where the sea is calm, the entrance is gentle, and the infrastructure is there.
-
Long Beach
Phu Quoc Long Beach This is the main tourist beach where most tourists stay. Advantages for families:
- Gentle entry into the water, no sharp breaks. Ideal for kids splashing around the shore.
- The entire infrastructure is at hand: deck chairs, umbrellas, cafes. No need to go anywhere if the child is tired.
- The sand is fine and clean, it's nice to walk barefoot.
Minus: it can be crowded in high season.
-
A beach with starfish
Hundreds of starfish in shallow water is a sight that a child will not forget This is, without exaggeration, one of the most memorable beaches for children. Imagine: snow-white sand, turquoise water and dozens of bright red starfish on the bottom. Our child was absolutely delighted.
Important nuances that we learned on the spot:
- The road. It's really bad, the last 5 km is a primer. It will be shaking on a regular car, it's better to take an SUV or ride a motorbike. But the view is worth it!
- Boats are optional. The locals will actively offer to take you to the beach by boat, but this is a divorce. You can safely walk to the dance with the starfish. That's what we did.
- Security. The entrance is gentle, but there are small currents. Children need to be watched carefully.
- Ethics. Explain to the child that the stars can not be pulled out of the water — they will die. Just watch and take pictures.
💡 Our verdict: It's worth going for a unique experience, but for the whole day — only if you are ready for Spartan conditions. It is better to combine with other attractions of the north. More about on the beach with starfish read here.
Excursions and entertainment: what to choose for a child
In addition to parks, Phu Quoc has a lot of other entertainment. We have selected the best:
-
Sun World Hon Thom Cable Car
The longest sea cable car in the world is already an attraction. The views from the height of the archipelago are breathtaking even for adults. The 8-year-old child was afraid at first, but after 5 minutes did not want to leave the booth.
What to consider:
- The ticket includes not only a cable car, but also a visit to the water park on the island of Hong Thom. Plan the whole day.
- The cabins are closed, air-conditioned, safe for children of any age.
- There is a lot to do on the island: beach, water park, attractions.
-
Grand World Walking Quarter
Bright houses and Grand World canals — how to get into a fairy tale This place pleasantly surprised us. Free entrance, beautiful territory where you can just walk. The kids liked it:
- Gondola rides along the canals (for a fee, but inexpensive).
- Colorful photo zones and architecture reminiscent of Europe.
- Evening shows and performances (check the schedule).
Minus: the food in the cafe on the territory is expensive, but you can always go out and have a snack elsewhere.
Where to eat with a child: our experience
Vietnamese cuisine can be spicy, but there is always an option for children.
- Night markets: Do not be afraid to take children to the night market in Duong Dong. There are boiled shrimp, spring rolls, kebabs, sweet pancakes. Everything is fresh, cooked with you. We ate there several times — no problems.
- Restaurants in Long Beach: In some establishments there is a children's menu (pasta, chicken, French fries). Prices are slightly higher, but comfort.
- Fruits: Don't forget about local fruits! Mango, pineapples, dragon fruit — vitamins and a safe snack.
How to navigate the island with children
- Taxi (Grab/Maxim/XanhSm): The most convenient and safe option with children. The cars are clean, air-conditioned, the drivers are neat. A trip around the island costs 50-200 thousand VND.
- Rent a motorcycle: Only if the child is over 10 years old and you are an experienced driver. For kids, this option is unsafe.
- Free buses: Routes #17, 19, 20. Convenient if you live near the bus stop. But with a stroller and a baby it can be uncomfortable during rush hour.
Results: our main tips for parents
- Don't try to embrace the immensity. Phu Quoc is big. Choose 2-3 key locations for a week so as not to tire the child.
- Plan your day around the heat. In the morning — the beach or parks, in the afternoon — a siesta at the hotel or a visit to air—conditioned places (museums, cafes), in the evening - walks and markets.
- Drink only bottled water and wash fruits. Children's stomachs are sensitive.
- Do not forget sunscreen, panama hats and light long-sleeve clothes for sun protection.
