What beaches are on Phu Quoc
Phu Quoc's beaches are its pride. The island is still considered a place not particularly touched by civilization, not spoiled by tourists. Almost the entire perimeter of the island is pristine beaches with white sand and palm trees almost at the water's edge. However, it must be honestly said that not all beaches here are suitable for swimming, and there are still nuances you need to know about.
On the eastern shore (on the right on the map) there are almost no normal beaches, which is why most of the resort areas are located on the western coast. Moreover, only a small part of the beaches is properly equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, cafes and other infrastructure for comfortable recreation. Furthermore, to be completely honest, the wild beaches outside the resort zones and hotels during bad weather, and not only then, are a very sad sight due to the huge amount of trash. It's not just unpleasant to swim there, but even to be there.
So if you want to "discover" a secluded paradise beach away from tourist areas here, you will most likely be disappointed. We tried to do this and traveled to all corners of Phu Quoc. In the end, we found nothing better than the well-known Long Beach.
What is really great here is that almost all beaches on Phu Quoc are publicly accessible and free. There are very few places on the shore that are impossible to access due to hotels or where they charge an entrance fee.

Sunbeds, umbrellas and changing rooms on Phu Quoc beaches
There are no changing rooms on the public beaches of Phu Quoc, at least we haven't encountered any. Changing rooms are a problem everywhere in Vietnam; they are not customary here. On some hotel beaches, there are changing rooms and toilets for guests, but they are located on the hotel territory, and they don't always allow entry from the outside.
Sunbeds and umbrellas are available here. On hotel beaches, they are free for guests, and on public beaches, they ask for 50,000 – 80,000 dong (1.9 - 3.04 USD) for a whole day for a set of sunbed+umbrella.

Entertainment on Phu Quoc beaches
There are very few familiar water activities on Phu Quoc beaches, and they are concentrated only in a few places. We encountered rental points for SUP surfboards, jet skis, banana boat rides, tube rides, and parasailing on Long Beach in the Duong Dong area, on the same Long Beach opposite the night market/Sonasea Shopping Center, on Khem Beach, and on Sao Beach. We also saw jet ski rentals in Sunset Town, but at the time we were there, the beaches and infrastructure were still being developed, so there might be more soon.
But as for the prices for entertainment, they can't be called cheap here. Here are the approximate prices on the beach near Sonasea:
- Parasailing – 800,000 dong/person / 30.42.
- Jet ski rental – 1,200,000 dong/20 minutes / 45.63.
- Banana boat ride – 1,500,000 dong for 5 people / 57.03.

How tides affect Phu Quoc beaches
First and foremost, it's important to know! Tides do not depend on the time of day. This is a myth from bloggers who don't know how it really works. The timing of tides depends on many factors and constantly changes, determined by forecast tables. We have one here:
График приливов и отливов на острове Фукуок График приливов и отливов на острове Фукуок подробно ⧉As for the influence of tides on Phu Quoc beaches, the ebb and flow don't cause much inconvenience on most beaches in the tourist areas on the western coast. However, if you unfortunately end up staying on the eastern shore, be prepared that during low tide, swimming here will be impossible, absolutely. 📹 More details in our video about tides on Phu Quoc.

Which beach/area to choose on Phu Quoc
If you are going to Phu Quoc for the first time, it would be wise to study the description of all beaches and areas to choose the most suitable one for yourself, as they differ quite significantly. We traveled to all Phu Quoc beaches, took many photos, videos and made detailed descriptions, all presented below, you can check them out.
If you don't want to read a big review and watch a lot of videos, here are some quick tips for choosing an area/beach to start with:
✔ Where to stay
- If you want to be in the center of the most democratic tourist scene near inexpensive shops, travel agencies, relatively inexpensive restaurants, cafes and markets – choose:
- If you want to relax in a hotel with its own territory in a fashionable new area away from the hustle and bustle, noise, and overly active beach neighbors – choose:
- If you want to relax in a luxurious hotel with its own territory and away from everything, you can choose:
- If you need a quiet, inexpensive area with a village-like atmosphere, then this is for you:
- If you need a new, modern area in European style for pleasant walks and pastime, but the beach is not so important, you can choose:
❌ Where not to stay
- In Duong Dong town definitely should not be your base for a beach vacation, unless you just need to stay overnight for some reason, or if you are on a business trip.
Overview and description of all beaches on Phu Quoc
And here is our comprehensive overview of all Phu Quoc beaches with photos and videos:
-
Long Beach
Long Beach Long Beach is the longest beach on Phu Quoc, occupying almost half of the entire western coast and stretching for no less than 10 kilometers. It starts almost from the center of the island's capital, Duong Dong, and stretches far to the south past the airport (Long Beach on the map). Along Long Beach are located the main and oldest resort areas, new tourist towns are being built, and there are resort complexes located away from everything. To understand the geography and layout of Long Beach, it's especially important to note that this is not a single resort zone or area along the shore; everything here is very heterogeneous. That is, Long Beach includes the beach and area of Duong Dong, the beach with airplanes, the new area around Sonasea street, further the resort village of Duong To, and so on. Each of these areas is arranged differently and suits different types of vacations, so we will describe each of them in detail below.
As for Long Beach as a whole – it's great, sandy, beautiful, and almost along its entire length suitable for swimming, with rare exceptions.
-
Duong Dong Town
Beach in the center of Duong Dong 📹 Watch our video about Duong Dong town on Phu Quoc.
The capital of the island, the main city or area Duong Dong is actually pronounced roughly like "Zuangdong," but the Russian spelling has been established as Duong Dong, and we adhere to it. But in reality, Vietnamese people won't always understand you if you say "Duong Dong," so remember the pronunciation "Zuangdong." The city is located on the western shore (Duong Dong on the map). This is the main economic center of the island and the largest settlement, all the city infrastructure is concentrated here, but there is very little tourist infrastructure.
Street in the center of Duong Dong There is also a beach in Duong Dong, as it is the southernmost part of Long Beach. But honestly, in our opinion, this is not the best place even for budget travelers, because the beach here is so-so, and the proximity to a noisy, bustling city also adds little pleasure for relaxation. Nevertheless, despite all this, tourists do stay in the city, as you can find many budget accommodation options from 8 dollars for a room for two.
-
Tourist area of Duong Dong
Long Beach in Duong Dong 📹 Watch our video about the tourist area of Duong Dong on Phu Quoc.
To the south of Duong Dong, from its outskirts along Long Beach for almost 3 kilometers up to the airport, stretches one of the oldest tourist areas of Phu Quoc (tourist area of Duong Dong on the map). It is sometimes called Bai Truong Beach, sometimes simply Duong Dong, and sometimes Long Beach (but we learned above that the entire Long Beach is much larger than this area). But still, this is no longer the city at all, and this area is very different from the city center in terms of layout and infrastructure. If the center of Duong Dong is mostly urban infrastructure, then here, on the contrary, is everything most touristy. There are many travel agencies, motorbike and car rentals, cafes, bars, restaurants, currency exchanges with the best rates. And all this at the lowest prices on Phu Quoc. There are also many hotels here, including plenty of budget guesthouses for 10 dollars per room. In general, in our personal opinion, this is the most democratic area in terms of prices and atmosphere, which is perfect for travelers and budget tourists.
On the main road in this area it's bustling and noisy
But everything is available on every corner
In the depths of the area away from the road, everything is also available, but it's quieter here At first glance, it may seem that it's also noisy and bustling here, like in the center of Duong Dong. But actually, that's only along the main road. But if you go a little deeper into the streets towards the beach or in the other direction, you'll see that the atmosphere is much quieter and calmer, while all the necessary infrastructure is also available.
The beach is equipped and has entertainment
On the beaches at the hotels it's clean and beautiful
Outside the beach hotels it can be not so great The beach here is also not bad - the same long Long Beach with palm trees and crunchy sand. However, there are objective drawbacks. Sometimes, to find an exit or access to the shore, you have to go through a whole "quest" along narrow, winding streets. And to be completely honest, they don't clean the shore particularly well here, and literally a couple of meters from the border of a beach hotel there can be piles of trash.
-
Sonasea Beach and area
Long Beach in the Sonasea area The Sonasea area is a relatively new residential area and tourist zone south of the airport in the village of Duong To on Long Beach. The beach here is the same – sandy, with beautiful palm trees, and seemingly endless. In the very center of the area, in the built-up and populated part of the resort, roughly opposite the pedestrian street and the Sonasea night market, there are even some beach activities and an equipped area on the shore for comfortable relaxation, the shore is clean. But a little further away from this place, you come across natural debris and there is no development at all. But we are sure that when the area is fully populated, possibly in a few years, the beach will be developed and cleaned.
It's quite well equipped here
There are even water activities But now about the resort zone itself. This is a kind of isolated tourist town with upscale hotels, villas, bungalows. It has a spacious layout and wide roads, along which identical houses and hotels are lined up, built in a single European style. However, it's hard to call it residential yet, as very little is inhabited here. Outside the compact central part along the street with the night market, it's still a "ghost town." Somewhere there are coffee shops and mini-shops working, but not so many as to satisfy basic needs for food and essentials, and they are located far from each other. But closer to the beach there are expensive hotels with their own territory and infrastructure. This is where life is in full swing, though only on the shore and within the hotel territory, otherwise – silence and desolation.
The center of the area is modern and clean
But everything else is still a ghost town For entertainment in this area, there is relaxation on the beach or by the pools, walking along the deserted streets, and in the evening you can go to the pedestrian street and the Sonasea Shopping Center night market. This street has everything: clothing and souvenir shops, seafood cafes and restaurants, fast food, children's entertainment, spa centers, currency exchange and travel agencies, including an office of the Russian-speaking "Navigator".
In the end, we want to say that for now, the Sonasea area is suitable for vacation, but not for budget travelers. It will be nice to relax here if you want seclusion and not to be disturbed by locals. You can diversify your vacation here with trips on excursions or to the nearest large towns Duong Dong and An Thoi, but in the area itself, besides the single Sonasea street, there is nowhere to walk and have fun yet.

Beach with airplanes
Beach with airplanes on Phu Quoc 📹 Watch our video about the beach with airplanes on Phu Quoc.
Opposite the airport on the long Long Beach there is a special place – this is the beach with airplanes (Beach with airplanes on the map). You can get here by buses No. 17 or 19, taxi or rented transport.
Here you can really see planes taking off and landing almost right above the beach. However, the shore here is not distinguished by cleanliness, so we would not recommend it as a place for beach relaxation and swimming, but you can come here to see the planes, eat at a seafood restaurant and take photos against the backdrop of beautiful palm trees.
This beach itself is not particularly clean
There is a place for photos with palm trees here Despite its central location, there is no real tourist area here; this is just the southern outskirts of the more developed part of Long Beach next to Duong Dong, which we described above. There are a few hotels here, but practically no tourist infrastructure, everything is very modest. If you choose a hotel here, you will either have to spend most of your time in the hotel and on the beach, or constantly travel somewhere for entertainment and walks.

Bai Sao Beach (Sao Beach or Bai Sao)
Bai Sao Beach 📹 Watch our video about Bai Sao Beach on Phu Quoc.
Bai Sao is located in the southern part of the island on the eastern shore ( Bai Sao on the map). You can get here by rented transport, taxi or by free transfer provided by some hotels in the new SunsetTown area, but you need to check for such an option before booking a hotel.
In some reviews and guidebooks, Bai Sao is called the best beach on Phu Quoc. They say it is the closest to the "ideal mythical Bounty beach." But after visiting it, we only partially agree with this. The beach is indeed not bad and great for relaxation and swimming. The sand here is fine and white, and the shore is very similar to Khem Beach. There are activities, sunbeds and umbrellas (50,000 dong), hammocks (30,000 dong), cafes are working. Features: no sunsets, and in the afternoon there is a lot of shade on the shore, and a noticeable influence of tides.
In principle, everything for relaxation is available on Bai Sao
Even water activities
But in the afternoon there's nowhere to sunbathe, too much shade But what we didn't really like here is that compared to the same Khem Beach, the infrastructure on the shore and the layout of the area are worse here, and to be honest, it reminded us of a village beach. That is, everything seems to be there and the beach is great, but it still falls short of other more modern areas. And at the same time, it is not wild and deserted contrary to what guidebooks write.
Cafe on the beach
And this is what one of the exits to the beach looks like If you want to stay in a hotel near Bai Sao, you will only have two hotels to choose from, and only one is available for online booking – this is My Lan Resort & Restaurant. But keep in mind: there is no tourist infrastructure or entertainment outside the hotel and beaches here, nowhere to walk, at least for now. A little further from the shore, about a kilometer from the beach along the road, a village begins, and there are several inexpensive guesthouses and hotels there, but there is no normal tourist infrastructure and you have to walk or drive a long way to the beach each time.
In summary about Bai Sao: in our opinion, the beach gets a pass, but the area still has to develop.

Khem Beach resort (Khem Beach)
Khem Beach 📹 Watch our video about Khem Beach on Phu Quoc
Khem Beach is not just a beach, but a new modern tourist area and resort. It is located on the eastern shore in the south of the island (Khem Beach on the map). You can come here for a day trip from other areas by rented transport or taxi. On the main street in front of the beach, you can park a motorbike or car for free, but you cannot drive onto the square directly to the beach. If you book a hotel here, you can only get from the airport by taxi or transfer; city buses do not go here yet.
Khem Beach itself can well be called one of the best on the entire island, at least for us it definitely became one of our favorites. By the way, it is one of the few decent ones on the eastern coast. But the best thing is that there is no other sand like here. It is very white and fine as flour, very pleasant to walk on. And by the way, there is plenty of room to walk here, as it stretches almost continuously for two kilometers. It is located in a cozy bay that protects well from wind and waves.
There's plenty of room to walk on Khem Beach
It has awesome white sand You can swim here at any time, tides are not a hindrance. True, during low tide you have to go about 100 meters to get into the water, but at the same time there are no corals or stones underwater that would prevent you from walking that far. Well, okay, there is one drawback here: since it is on the eastern shore, there are no sunsets and after three o'clock in the afternoon there is too much shade from the palm trees on the shore, which will be a minus if you are a big fan of sunbathing.
The infrastructure on the beach is excellently developed. There are cafes and fast food (the price, however, is noticeably higher than on other beaches and in the center of the area), sunbed rentals for 80,000 dong for the whole day. There are even water activities and kayak and SUP surf rentals. And imagine, there are even lifeguards working here. You can relax on the sand on your own mattress or towel for free, although in some places on the shore hotel security guards walk around and ask you to move further away from their territory. But this doesn't create problems, as there is enough space here.
And now about the area itself. In general, as already mentioned, this is a great place where you can come and stay in one of the hotels for your entire vacation. The area is modern, clean, developing, and in principle everything is here, including hotels of different categories. You can find both budget options from 20 dollars for a room for two, and stay in a luxurious resort with territory on the first line for 50 dollars per night. On the main street there are several supermarkets, cafes and restaurants work, boutiques, there are travel agencies.
A very cool modern area
It's a full-fledged upscale resort
Everything is here for relaxation (but relatively expensive) However, this area is primarily suitable for those who come here to relax, not for budget travelers. After all, the atmosphere and prices here are those of an upscale resort, as opposed to the more democratic and simple areas of Duong Dong. There is no budget street food and roadside fruit stalls, inexpensive travel agencies, bars with gatherings until late at night, and we couldn't even find a motorbike rental in this area.

Sela Beach and Selamoon area
Sela Beach 📹 Watch our video about Sela Beach on Phu Quoc
This is a completely new area and beach of Phu Quoc, located on the eastern shore in the south (Sela Beach on the map). No transport goes here, only taxi or rental.
Sela Beach is well equipped: there is a promenade, cafes, sunbeds, beautiful palm trees. It is located in a cozy bay, protected from winds and waves. The sand is white and fine as flour. But the water at the time of our visit was not very clean, but perhaps this was due to bad weather. Also, when we were here, we didn't see a single vacationer on the beach or in the entire area. But in the near future the area will be populated and it will become more lively, and activities will appear on the shore. But for now it's a ghost area.
Sela Beach
Sela Beach A little about the Selamoon area itself. As of early 2025, it was still under construction, but some houses and buildings were already ready. However, there is no tourist or urban infrastructure yet, except for the cafe on the beach. The nearest "civilization" is in the neighboring villages and on the neighboring beaches a few kilometers away, so if you decide to stay here, take care of currency exchange, buying a SIM card, renting transport, etc., in advance.

Sunset Town beaches and area
The beach in the Sunset Town area is small 📹 Watch our video about Sunset Town beaches and area on Phu Quoc
Sunset Town is another new and super-modern area built specifically for recreation. It is still under construction, infrastructure is developing, but even now in its very center hotels and entertainment are in full swing. Here is the station of the record-breaking cable car that leads to the island and the Sunworld amusement park, and in the evenings a grand Kiss of the Sea show takes place. There is also a great night market working here. The area itself is very cozy, ideal for walks, architecturally reminiscent of buildings from different cultures and eras, but of course there is mostly European style here. Unfortunately, there are also objective minuses here for now: tourist infrastructure is still weak, and prices are higher than in the "older" tourist areas; the outskirts of the area are still uninhabited and resemble a ghost town.
Sunset Town looks like a European city, not Vietnam
There are great streets and embankments for walking here
The town is very beautiful and convenient for tourists
In the evening the new night market works But you can still put up with the mentioned shortcomings, especially since everything will change soon. But not everyone can put up with the almost complete absence of a beach. Yes, there is a beach here, but it is very tiny, about 300 meters long. Moreover, when we were here at the end of 2024, it was still being developed. Perhaps over time more artificial beaches will be equipped here, but for now most of the shore in Sunset Town is rocky and not suitable for swimming. If you still decide to stay here, you can take a taxi or free hotel transfer to the neighboring beaches Khem Beach or Sao Beach.

Ong Lang Beach and area (Ong Lang)
Ong Lang Beach 📹 Watch our video about Ong Lang Beach on Phu Quoc
Ong Lang Beach is located north of Duong Dong, 8 kilometers from the city (Ong Lang on the map). This is a full-fledged tourist area, and unique in its own way, there are no others like it on the western shore. It is the only one that resembles a village. Yes, here narrow dirt streets pass between the houses of local residents mixed with hotels and inexpensive guesthouses, and a corresponding calm village atmosphere reigns. Moreover, the roads here are so intertwined that we even got lost here a few times, running into fences and gates of private houses where the road seemed to continue. To be honest, we didn't like this area, it's too old, underdeveloped, confusing and somewhat neglected. Nevertheless, everything necessary is here: private accommodation and inexpensive hotels, hotels with their own territory and beach on the first line, motorbike rentals, travel agencies, small rural shops, even currency exchange.
The area here is remote like a village
The area here is remote like a village As for the beach, it is in principle not bad here, but not to say one of the best on Phu Quoc. The problem is that most of the best shore is occupied by large hotels, which are not easy to access from the outside. At least we didn't succeed. And for everyone else, there is only a small stretch a couple of hundred meters long. But here the tides are quite pronounced, as there is a gentle slope of the bottom. As a result, during high tides the water comes very close, leaving almost no space on the shore for relaxation, and at low tide, on the contrary, it goes very far away.
During high tide there is almost no space on Ong Lang
Sunbeds and umbrellas on Ong Lang -
Movenpick Hotel beach or Cau Can
Movenpick Hotel beach or Cau Can 📹 Watch our video about Movenpick Hotel beach or Cau Can on Phu Quoc
Movenpick Hotel beach is also called Ong Lang and Cau Can. Actually, there is complete confusion with the names of beaches on Phu Quoc in different sources and on different maps, so it's best to focus on their location, Movenpick Hotel beach on the map is here.
Movenpick Hotel beach or Cau Can This is a great long sandy strip, almost 3 kilometers. But almost this entire shore is closed to access. We managed to get to this beach only through the main entrance of the Movenpick Hotel, and all other driveways and passages that are on maps and in navigators are tightly blocked by fences and barriers. But in principle, there is no great point in looking for any detours, since we got to the beach completely calmly directly through the hotel territory, past the restaurant and past the pools. No one hindered the passage, and even the security politely showed how best to pass through the labyrinth of paths around the pool.
The beach here is great, clean, suitable for swimming both at high and low tide. In the hotel area it is well equipped: sunbeds, umbrellas, bar, net for ball games. But we didn't see any other entertainment.
Movenpick Hotel In our opinion, there is no point in coming here from other areas just to visit this beach, since there are beaches no worse and more easily accessible, where you don't have to go through hotel territory and security. If you decide to stay at the Movenpick Hotel itself, then note that there is no life or infrastructure for the nearest kilometers around. That is, it will be a vacation of the hotel-pool-beach type, and possibly trips on excursions.

Starfish Beach
Starfish Beach Starfish Beach is the only wild beach among those we visited on Phu Quoc where there is no trash and where you can relax and swim to your heart's content. It is also one of the most picturesque attractions of Phu Quoc. You can get here by rented transport or as part of a sightseeing tour of the island that includes a stop at this beach. However, when visiting, there are peculiarities; everyone here tries to scam you into paying for a boat ride, but actually you can visit Starfish Beach completely free of charge.
Starfish Beach
You can relax on the shore
Swim in the clear water There is no tourist area for accommodation here; it is precisely an attraction, a place for a trip for a few hours or for the whole day. It has earned its popularity for a reason: there is white sand, very clear water and an abundance of large starfish. There are hundreds of starfish here, all lying on the bottom close to the shore. You can look at them through the clear water for hours, and swimming in the warm, clean water here is simply a pleasure. More about Starfish Beach and how to get there.

Bai Dai Beach (Bai Dai) and Grand World area
Bai Dai Beach Bai Dai Beach is marked on maps as Bai Dai, but is actually pronounced as Bai Zai. It is located in the north of the island near the VinWonder amusement park and the new tourist area Grand World (Bai Dai Beach on the map). But what's good is that this particular area is the final stop for the local VinBus routes No. 17, 19 and 20, and many free intra-area routes are also organized here.
But for clarity, it should be said that on some maps and in guidebooks there is another beach with the same name near Duong Dong town (the other Bai Dai Beach on the map). Well, that one is not worth going to at all. First, it is almost impossible to get to it by legal means, as everything is blocked off, the territory is occupied by The Shells Resort and Spa hotel. And the part of the beach that can be freely accessed is not suitable as a place for recreation at all.
Bai Dai Beach near Duong Dong is not suitable for recreation at all As for the new Bai Dai Beach in the Grand World area, it is a great place and a new self-sufficient area for recreation. Several upscale resorts with their own territory are located here, and there are also quite budget accommodation options from 20 dollars per room. The area itself is very pleasant, clean, beautiful. It's nice to walk here and enjoy the vacation. But the bad thing is that for now this is still a developing resort zone under construction, so you can't always find everything you need at an acceptable price here. Even with currency exchange it's not great: there are few exchange offices and the rate is low compared to other more developed areas. In general, for now it is still a "tourist reservation" in one of the most remote corners of Phu Quoc, but the area definitely has a future.
-
Dam Beach (Dam Beach)
Wild Dam Beach Dam Beach is one of the remote and secluded beaches that can only be reached by rented transport or taxi (Dam Beach on the map). The road here is good, asphalt, there are several exits directly to the shore.
Many tourists think that this is exactly that ideal wild beach where you can seclude yourself and enjoy relaxation on a magnificent shore. And everything would be fine, but, unfortunately, this is one of the dirtiest beaches we encountered on Phu Quoc. Perhaps at other times or in other weather it might be cleaner, but what we found here... You can see for yourself in the photo, 📹 and here is our video about Dam Beach on Phu Quoc.
Could be a very cool place, but very dirty There is no tourist area as such here, it's wilderness all around. The only tourist place nearby is the great Ho Quoc temple-monastery, which is reached by the road past Dam Beach.
-
Wild Vung Bau Beach (Vung Bau Beach)
Wild Vung Bau Beach 📹 Watch our video about Vung Bau Beach on Phu Quoc
Vung Bau is another wild beach where we tried to find a secluded quiet place under a palm tree away from tourist areas. It is located in the north of the island and is indeed far from tourist places and hard to reach (Vung Bau on the map). A terrible dirt road leads here along the shore, which can only be traveled by SUV or motorbike; it's better not to venture in an ordinary car, especially in bad weather. You need to enter here from the south side (lower on the map) and drive along the road along the shore, and all other roads that your navigator will lead you to are blocked.
Vung Bau, although beautiful, is really dirty But, unfortunately, Vung Bau turned out to be another dirty shore with occasional locals who come here for fishing or picnics. Fishing gear, stinky rotten fish and other trash are scattered on the shore. In general, a definite minus for this wild beach and it's not worth coming here.
A little further in this bay there is a luxurious Maia Spa Fusion Resort hotel with its own beach, but it is closed, and apparently forever: all passages and driveways to it are closed and guarded.
-
Thom Beach and eastern beaches
Eastern Thom Beach Most of Phu Quoc's eastern coast is unsuitable for swimming. Good beaches on the eastern coast exist only in the south of Phu Quoc, these are Sao, Khem and Sela. Otherwise, everywhere along the shore there are either fishing villages with terrible dirt on the shore, or stones and rocks, or very shallow beaches where even at high tide it is impossible to swim, not to mention low tide.
Just as an example and for understanding, let's talk about one well-known beach, Thom Beach, also called Pineapple beach (Thom Beach on the map). But it is popular with locals, especially from the nearest villages, and you can often see beach picnics and large celebrations here. But the worst thing is that everything that remains after such gatherings, they simply leave on the shore or throw into the sea. Everything flies there: glass and plastic bottles, disposable plates, metal cans. And then all this lies here for months, maybe years. So we cannot recommend coming here for recreation in any way. Perhaps the only reason you might come here for a day is to look for fun at the shores of Cambodia, if you've never been there.
Hotels on Phu Quoc, prices and where to book
Hotels on Phu Quoc are somewhat more expensive by Vietnamese standards than on the mainland, but overall prices are very affordable. Here you can easily find resorts with their own territory and beach at a reasonable price (from 30 dollars for a room for two), and budget guesthouses from 10 dollars for a room or 5 dollars for a hostel bed.
However, good hotels on Phu Quoc are almost always full, and just arriving and finding a room in a decent hotel on the spot, especially in the high season from November to March, is not the best idea. Therefore, it is still better to book accommodation in advance before the trip, especially since it is easy to do with payment by Russian cards at a price lower than on the spot.
You can find and book accommodation on Phu Quoc on these reliable verified sites or through the search form:
