Description and is it worth a visit
Red Sand dunes, sometimes also called pink, yellow or golden, are smaller than White dunes, but they are no less beautiful. It is convenient to combine their visit with a visit to White dunes and The Red Canyon, and, well, they are located very close to the resort area of Mui Ne and you can even get to them by bike. However, in fact, the dunes are not red at all, but rather yellow or orange. They become reddish only under certain lighting conditions.
Besides the fact that you can just watch and walk along the dunes, and take beautiful photos, here you can ride downhill on the sand on a kind of sled by local children. As soon as you get close to the dunes, these young novice guides will immediately start to get you for a ride on their sled, and it's not easy to get rid of them. And beware of the kids who will offer you to look after your things while you ride. You may be left without some valuable items left for safekeeping.
Opposite the dunes across the street there are several cafes where you can have a refreshing drink and park your vehicle in the parking lot for free, provided that you order something there.

🚶 How to get there
The Red Dunes are located near the village of Mui Ne (dunes on the map). You can get here with an excursion, but this is not a separate excursion to the Red Dunes, but simply sightseeing tours and White Dunes stop here. It is also easy to visit them yourself:
You can get here on a rented motorbike or bicycle, which can be left in the parking lot at one of the roadside cafes, where they don't charge money for parking if you order something from them. But in principle, you can safely leave the transport on the side of the road, there is plenty of room. You can also take the bus number 1, which follows from the center of Phan Thiet through the entire resort area of Mui Ne along the main road. The fare to No. 1 costs 8000 - 20000 VND, buses run every 20-30 minutes. Theoretically, this bus goes straight to the Red Dunes, but in our experience we have seen that it does not go further than the center of Mui Ne village, so from there you will have to walk to the dunes. More details about bus No. 1 and other transport in Phan Thiet and Mui Ne were told here...
Friends, we remind you that it is much more interesting to get acquainted with the sights of Mui Ne with the help of excursions, and therefore we advise you to look at options with online booking and reviews on these excursion aggregators:
