Description and is it worth a visit
The central market of Nha Trang Cho Dam or Dam Market is a very popular place among tourists vacationing in Nha Trang, perhaps one can even say, a must-visit, and more than once. Even groups are taken here on sightseeing buses. Everything is sold here: clothes, souvenirs, food, including fresh exotic fruits.
In the central part of the market, where the parking lot and the main entrance are under the sign, there is a brisk fruit trade for tourists at somewhat inflated prices. After all, it is here that groups of tourists are brought so that they can "mess around" a little. However, if you walk along the streets along the market building and around it, you will see rows with vegetables and fruits, where prices are much lower than at the main entrance. However, the assortment may not be so large. For example, we bought mangoes there from 13,000 VND per kg, mangosteen from 120,000 VND, while in the parking lot we sold mangoes from 30,000 per kg, mangosteen from 170,000 VND. So if you want to save money, do not rush to buy at the main entrance and where there are many tourists, but take a walk around.
But the trade here is conducted not only on the street. In the covered building of the Dam Market on the ground floor, a lot of things are sold that can be brought home as gifts. Of course, there are a lot of souvenirs and handicraft "crafts", dried fruits and seafood, coffee, tea, desserts, nuts. There are rows with pearls and jewelry, clothes. The second floor is occupied mainly by casual clothes, shoes, bags, suitcases and other consumer goods.
As for the quality of goods sold on the market, these are mostly Chinese fakes, but you can still choose something for your home. And, as in any Asian market, prices for all tourists are initially called very high, so bargain at least once every 2. Many traders speak or understand Russian, which will facilitate communication.
There are also local cafes on the market that serve dishes with meat, fish, noodles, rice, desserts, make freshly squeezed juices and shakes of exotic fruits.
But perhaps the most important and important thing on the market that all tourists need is a currency exchange, the most profitable or one of the most profitable in Nha Trang. There are several jewelry shops at the entrance to the market, which traditionally offer an excellent currency exchange rate. We prefer to change in Kim Vinh (you can find it on the map. if you are poorly oriented in the market area). In our experience, this is the best exchanger for dollars and euros. For example, one day the official exchange rate for a dollar was 25,390, in the exchangers in the tourist area they offered a rate of 24,500- 25,200, here we exchanged 25,600. But you can bypass other jewelry shops nearby, maybe somewhere else will offer a better course.

🚶 How to get there
The central market is located not very far from the epicenter of the tourist life of Nha Trang, about 2-3 kilometers away (Central market on the map). If you like hiking, then it is quite possible to walk along the main embankment here, and in its northern part go a little deeper into the city, and then you will get to the market. A taxi ride will cost from 40,000 VND or from 25,000 motorcycle taxis.
