This is a natural landmark known as Orchid Island, not really an island, but a remote place on the Hon Heo Peninsula. People come here by boat to touch the natural beauties and enjoy the scenery. The territory is covered with forests, small streams and waterfalls. According to some reports, ancient Cham inscriptions have been preserved intact on the rocks under the streams of water flowing down from the mountains. In the depths of the peninsula there is an orchid garden, including a large collection of different species, and growing everywhere. During the flowering period, this place is amazing in its beauty.
There is a butterfly garden and a mini-zoo where you can talk closely and feed deer, ride ostriches and elephants (from 300,000 VND / 11.38 USD). Circus performances with the participation of birds and animals are held at certain times. When walking through the jungle, you can see different birds and some wild animals.
Among other things, there are excellent equipped beaches, you can go snorkeling, water activities are available (parasailing, kayaking, jet skis). There is a cafe, but you can rent a grill (from 100 000 VND / 3.79 USD). Vacationers can book a tent, a house or a bungalow. In general, this is a pleasant place to diversify your vacation.
Useful information to visit:
- There is no separate excursion to Orchid Island. Visiting the island can be included in combined tours, including, for example, a trip Monkey Island (from 613,000 VND).
- When booking boat tickets at travel agencies or booking sites, they will come out cheaper.
- Performances with the participation of animals and birds take place at 11:00 and 14:30.
- Important! The last ferry from the "Island" departs at 16:00!
🕐 Working hours
The island is accessible around the clock, but you need to tie its visit to the time of the boats. From the pier, the boat departs daily, from 07:30 to 10:00, every 30 minutes. The journey time of the ferry is 35 minutes. The last boat from the island leaves at 16:00.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price
Visiting the island itself is free, you only need to get there by boat. Round-trip boat, when buying at the pier: adult - 240,000 VND (9.1 USD), children from 100 to 140 cm tall – 150,000 VND (5.69 USD); children up to 100 cm tall – free of charge. When buying tickets from street travel agencies or booking online on websites Trip.com (accepts Russian cards) or klook tickets are cheaper. Parking at the pier – from 10,000 VND (0.38 USD), outside – free of charge.
🚶 How to get there
Orchid Island is located in a secluded remote location on the Hon Heo Peninsula, it is about 15 kilometers from Nha Trang in a straight line (orchid island on the map).
But to get on the ground, and even to detour, will not work, there are no highways leading here. You can only get there by boat, which although between the island and the North Pier of Long Phu during the day from 07:30 to 10:00 every 30 minutes. The last return boat from the island leaves at 16:00.
In turn, to the pier (Nha Trang North Pier on the map) you can get there yourself by rented transport, intercity bus, taxi or with a guided tour.
It will not be difficult to find this place during an independent trip: the exit to the ferry (the pier and the place of ticket sale) are very well marked and immediately visible when driving along the main road. Parking is organized, costs 10000 VND (0.38 USD). If you drive from the center of Nha Trang on the QL1 road, you will have to drive 18 kilometers. If you go along the coast, you will have to drive about 22 kilometers, but the views along the road will be much more picturesque.
We also came across information that the city bus No. 2 should go to the northern pier of Long Phu, but in reality we did not see it there on the road, check everything on the spot.
