Alexander Yersin Museum in Nha Trang

Museum of Alexander Yersin (Alexandre Yersin Museum) – this is not a tourist attraction for the average tourist, and perhaps not everyone will be interested here. But given the convenient location in the very center of the resort near the beach and the symbolic entrance fee, it is impossible not to tell about it.

The museum is dedicated to the work of Dr. Alexander Yersin (also Yersen) of Swiss origin, who came to Vietnam in 1891 to study sick animals, and stayed here forever. But he did not limit himself to studying sick animals and developing vaccines against diseases. He was the first to plant rubber and quince trees in Vietnam. There is even a street named after Dr. Yersin in the city, and in general, the scientist is a fairly well-known and revered outstanding personality not only in Nha Trang, but in Vietnam in general.

The museum is located in the Pasteur Institute building on the second floor in the former library and the doctor's office. The exposition is small and occupies one room. Among the exhibits are documents, books, personal belongings, laboratory equipment of that period, household items. The information is provided in French and English.

Near Nha Trang there is another attraction associated with scientists – grave of Ersin. It is located far outside the city and is hardly worth a special trip to it, but if you drive by and love little-known tourist places, you can stop by.
