Description and is it worth a visit
Phrathat Cave is part of the Erawan National Park, but it is located 18 kilometers from the park headquarters and the famous waterfall. It is convenient to visit it before or after visiting the waterfall on the same day, so as not to pay twice for admission, but keep in mind that you need to spend at least an hour and a half visiting it, and it closes at 16 o'clock.
The cave is huge and equipped with wooden paths and bridges, but inside it is almost completely dark even when the lights are turned on (which is not always done, you need to ask the ranger at the entrance). So take a good flashlight with you, or you'll have to hire a park ranger guide before entering. A tour guide is optional, and it is quite possible to walk on your own.
To get into the cave, you will have to overcome a considerable climb up the steps from the parking lot and the ticket check point, which will take about 30 minutes. Be sure to take water with you. The entrance to the cave is very narrow and slippery, so be careful and get ready to rub against the walls a little. But immediately after the entrance, it expands, and you will find a large hall filled with bizarre formations in the form of stalactites and stalagmites. If you go further, you can see a colony of bats. The cave is not cold, you do not need to take warm clothes with you.
🕐 Working hours
From 08:00 to 16:00, but the rangers at the entrance (parking of the transport) stop launching visitors already at 15:00, since it takes an hour and a half to climb and explore the cave.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price
The cave is part of the Erawan National Park, and therefore is visited by the same ticket as the Erawan Waterfall, i.e. nothing is required to pay extra for visiting it. The entrance fee to the national park is 400 baht (12.25 USD, see Thailand currency and exchange rate) – adults, 200 – children (6.12 USD).
🚶 How to get there
The cave is located 18 kilometers from the entrance to Erawan Park and waterfall, and 78 kilometers from the city of Kanchanaburi (cave on the map). You can get to it only by rented transport or taxi.
