Description and is it worth a visit
The temple of Chang Taem (Wat Chang Taem or Wat Changtam) is lost among dozens of large and famous temples of the old city of Chiang Mai, and at first glance it is no different. But in fact, the temple houses one of the most important Buddha statues – Phra Fon Saen Ha. It dates back to the tenth century and was originally kept in a temple in Lamphun. In the 15th century, King Tilokorat of the Mangri dynasty (1441-1487) sacked Lamphun, which was ruled by Queen Chamatevi, and destroyed all buildings except the temple in which the Buddha was located.
This Buddha, along with another very important statue called "Great Keo Kao", were brought to Chiang Mai and installed in two temples: the statue of Great Keo Kao is now kept in the temple Wat Chiang Man, and Von Saen Ha was placed by Chang Tai. Every year during the festival of the city shrine Intahin city pillar, the statue is transferred for a week to the main temple of Chedi Luang, where the ceremony of its ablution is performed, and then prayed.
