There are practically no attractions in the city itself Cha-am, except for a couple of city temples. But there are quite a lot of interesting places nearby, so even for a couple of weeks of rest there is always something to see. Moreover, you should not limit yourself to sightseeing in the vicinity of Chaam, but also grab interesting places of Hua Hin and visit the city of temples Phetchaburi.

Wat Cha-Am Khiri Cave Temple

Cha Am Khiri Temple

This wonderful cave temple is located just a couple of kilometers from the center of Cha-am. In our opinion, this is one of the most wonderful places near the resort, and it is worth a visit. It is almost always quiet here, there are no crowds of tourists, and there are not even locals.

The temple includes several buildings and two caves. They are quite small, and rather like depressions in the rock, but very interesting. As usual, there are Buddha statues and small pagodas in them, but in the upper cave there is also a footprint of the Buddha. To find the caves, you need to climb the steps up the hill.

Cha Am Forest Park

Cha Am Forest Park

This is a forest (forest park) a few kilometers from Chaam on the main road towards Hua Hin. Here you can just take a walk and get acquainted with the Thai flora and fauna. Unfortunately, its proximity to the road and big cities was not in vain, and to see animals here, especially exotic ones, you need to be a real lucky guy. The chances of seeing something interesting increase if you hire a park guide.

You can just come here, leave the transport in one of the free parking lots, and go for a walk in the woods. No entrance fee is charged, no one imposes any services. Not far from the entrance there is the headquarters of the park, where gazebos are installed, there is a toilet and water, there is a restaurant. There are signs marking routes on the territory.

Wat Tanod Laung Temple

Wat Tanod Laung Temple

Thais will never cease to amaze with their temples. So in this case, they tried not to limit themselves to the beauties of the traditional Thai temple, but took up the overall design. And they built a temple-ship, also known as Boat Temple.

Of course, the temple does not float, then if you look at it from the outside, it looks like a boat without any stretch, on the deck of which a traditional Thai temple is erected. Even if you look at the photo of the temple from space on Google maps, it is easy to see the outlines of the boat.

In addition to the unusual shape outside, the temple does not stand out in any remarkable way, so you can limit yourself to its external inspection and photographing.

Wat Neran Chararam Temple and statue of King Naresuan

Wat Neran Chararam Temple

This temple-monastery is located almost in the very center of the city, just two kilometers from Narathip Alley to the north (towards Bangkok). It is perhaps the most important and most famous local temple. It is notable for the statue of a six-armed seated Buddha, covering his eyes and ears with his hands as a sign of renunciation of human passions. Behind the statue is a Ubosot of somewhat unconventional architecture.

Next to the temple there is a statue of King Naresuan the great with many figures of roosters. It is said that King Naresuan was very fond of cockfighting, and therefore Thais bring roosters to his statues all over the country. According to another version, the rooster represents good luck.

Pedestrian street Saphan Hin was opened in 2011, and is designed to be one of the most popular attractions of the resort. What happened, you can check for yourself.

The street is a dam stretching into the sea for 1.5 kilometers. This is a place for morning jogging or evening walks, fishing and taking pictures. Bat Cave

The Bat Cave or Na Yang Bat Cave is a little–known attraction, but one of the most spectacular in the area. Rarely any natural attraction can cause as many emotions as this one, while for some reason the cave is almost unknown to a wide range of tourists, and is not mentioned in any guidebooks.

In fact, you will not get into the cave when visiting this attraction. It would be more correct to call it the mountain of bats (as, however, it is sometimes mentioned in some sources). Every day, millions of fruit bats fly out of the cave in this mountain at about the same time at sunset (it's about 18 hours) for a night hunt. The spectacle is incredible and exciting. Mice fly out of the mountain in a thin thick stream, and go to the farmers' fields. In calm, windless weather, you can hear their rustling, which can cause goosebumps to run down your back. But you should not be afraid of these creatures, because they are fruit, not blood-sucking mice.

Practical Information

🕐Working hours: mice fly out at sunset, from 18 to 19 hours, depending on the time of year. It is better to arrive at the place early to find an observation deck near the house.

💵Entrance fee / ticket price: free of charge or 20 baht when climbing to the observation deck

🚶 How to get there: The cave is located about 12 kilometers from the city (observation deck on the map). You can get there only by taxi or rented transport. You can watch the spectacle directly from the road, but there is also an observation deck in a private house, the entrance to which costs 20 baht.

Trekking route Nang Phan Thu Rut

The Nang Phan Thu Rut nature trail (also spelled Khao Nang Phanthurat or Khao Nang Phanthurat National Park) is a 3 and a half kilometer route through the jungle and hills. This is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the local flora and fauna, visit the caves and take great photos.

The route is not too complicated and is accessible to anyone with a normal physical form, but you will have to constantly go up and down. It will take at least 3 hours to cover the entire route, and do not forget to bring water with you. A conductor is not required.

Practical Information

🕐 Working hours: free. At the entrance to the park there is a Visitor center where you can hire a guide for a fee or get information about the park.

💵Entrance fee / ticket price: you can complete the route during the daytime.

🚶 How to get there: The cave is located about 10 kilometers from the city (on the map). You can get there only by taxi or rented transport.

San Chao Por Khao Yai Shrine

The Shrine of Cha-am

This shrine is a very important place for locals. There is a tradition: if you do not stop by this shrine every time you drive past it, then at least honk right off the road.

The shrine is made in the form of a pyramid and is very easily recognizable from the road. But its position is also very easy to determine by the sound of passing traffic horns constantly coming on the road. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to climb to the top: although there is a staircase leading there, it is closed to ordinary onlookers. Around the "pyramid" there are many figures of animals, which are brought as a gift to the shrine.

In general, there is not much to do and look at here, but if you drive by, you can drop by for a few minutes.

Practical Information

🕐 Working hours: around the clock.

💵Entrance fee / ticket price: free.

🚶 How to get there: the shrine is located a couple of kilometers from the city center (observation deck on the map). You can get there only by taxi or rented transport. You can watch the spectacle directly from the road, but there is also an observation deck in a private house, the entrance to which costs 20 baht.

Wat Na Yang Temple

Wat Nai Yang

This temple is located a few kilometers from Cha-am in a village in the middle of picturesque rice fields. It is notable for its large (about six meters) a statue of a monk, nicknamed "The Great Earwig."

Previously, this statue was completely dark brown in color, and its lower part was covered with pieces of gold leaf. In 2013, the temple underwent restoration, and the monk was completely painted, which made him less picturesque. However, if you move towards the bat cave, you can drop in here for 20 minutes.

Practical Information

🕐Working hours: during daytime.

💵Entrance fee / ticket price: admission is free.

🚶 How to get there: The temple is located 12 kilometers from the center of Chaam on the way to the bat cave (temple on the map). It is located in a village away from the main road, so to find it, you will have to use the help of locals or a navigator.

Santorini Amusement Park

Santorini Park Cha-am is an entertainment park stylized as the Greek island of Santorini. This place with difficulty can be attributed to the sights, but if you want to have fun, especially with children, then there is no better place in the vicinity of Cha-am. There is a water park, a Ferris wheel and other attractions, and, of course, many shops and cafes.
