Description and is it worth a visit
Vimanmek Palace (Vimanmek Mansion) is one of the palaces in the Dusit Palace complex. Although the Vimanmek Palace itself is not just a palace, but also a whole complex of a palace, a park and thematic museums and exhibitions in various buildings on the territory.
The center of the whole complex is the three-storey royal mansion Vimanmek Mansion, built entirely of teak wood. Previously, members of the royal family lived in it, but it was located in another place, and it was moved here later. It can be viewed from the inside, there are furniture and items belonging to the royal family on display. As usual in such "wooden" places, they say that everything is done without a single nail. It is also the largest teak building. In addition, here you can visit: an exhibition of jewelry and gold and silver products in the Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall throne palace (entrance and payment to it separately, 100 baht); an exhibition of fabrics; the Royal Elephant Museum; separate exhibitions of items belonging to various members of the royal family; an exhibition of photographs taken by King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
In general, the complex is a very interesting place, worthy of a visit. Unlike The Grand Royal Palace, where mostly only beautiful temple buildings and religious shrines are presented, the more mundane, everyday life of members of the royal family and their achievements are presented here. If time permits, you should definitely go here, especially since Vimanmek can be visited for free with a ticket purchased to the Grand Royal Palace. When visiting, there is a strict dress code: no short shorts, skirts, open shoulders. At the entrance, you can purchase the appropriate capes for 100-150 baht. At the entrance to individual museums and the teak mansion, all things are strictly checked: you can enter only with a minimum of items, and everything else will have to be left in the storage room for a nominal fee. Shoes must also be removed at the entrance. Taking pictures inside is strictly prohibited.
Unfortunately, in 2016 the complex was closed for reconstruction, and the time of resumption of work is still unknown.
