Shiryaevsky tunnels - one of the attractions that visit the complex during a visit to the village of Shiryaevo. Their visit is paid, as they belong to Samara Luka National Park.
They appeared in the late XIX-early XX century during the extraction of stone, as the local mountains were famous for high-quality limestone. Mining was very active in the Soviet years, including prisoners and prisoners of war. In the 50s of the last century, the work completely stopped. It is said that in 1931-1933, a geological expedition explored the local ravine valleys, and mining engineers through the caves got into the system of dungeons of the Samara Luka, where they met some unusual phenomena, information about which is classified to this day.
A few years ago, most of the tunnels were closed from visiting, access blocked by bars to preserve the population of bats living in them. There are group excursions only accompanied by employees of the National Park Samara Luka on preliminary requests. But part of the tunnels remained open to the public for a fee. These tunnels are shallow, it is impossible to get lost in them, and the inspection will take 10 minutes. There is nothing much to see inside: there are only stones and modern "Vandal" graffiti on the walls. Inside it is cold even in summer, you need to dress warmer.
