Attractions and entertainment in Zaozernoye

Article and Section Navigation

There are no attractions in Zaozernoye with the exception of only two interesting places, which, however, will not be interesting to every tourist. These are the ruins of the Greek-Scythian settlement "Chaika" and the center of space communications with antennas ADU-1000 and P-400. Both of these places are abandoned and gradually destroyed, and therefore are unlikely to satisfy the interest of inquisitive tourists who do not think of rest without visiting attractions.

Fortunately, from Zaozernoye with inexpensive group excursions you can visit almost all corners of the Crimea. You can buy excursions from distributors on the street, in some guest houses and hotels, or pick them up online. Most sightseeing tours depart from Evpatoria on large tourist buses or minibuses, and the price includes delivery from your hotel. You can also buy excursions in Yevpatoria, which will be a little cheaper, and get to the place of departure yourself by taxi or city bus number 8. In order not to be disappointed in the trip, you can search and book excursions based on ratings and reviews on these verified sites:

If you come to rest on your transport, you can visit many attractions on your own, including seeing places to which excursions are not carried. Well, if you do not have your own transport, then you can take buses or taxis at least every day to go to Yevpatoria and get acquainted with its interesting places, of which there are a lot.

Here is a selection of attractions in Zaozernoye and the surrounding area, which are worth and can be visited independently, indicating the opening hours, cost and how to get to them:

Settlement "Chaika" in Zaozernoye

Settlement Chaika in Zaozernoye, Crimea
Settlement "Chaika"

It is the ruins of a Greco-Scythian settlement founded around the middle of the 4th century BC by Chersonesos. In the middle of the 2nd century. captured by the Scythians and existed until the middle of the first century AD. It was discovered in 1959, and since then there have been archaeological excavations. Many of the artifacts found here are on display at Local History Museum of Yevpatoria.

Today, the settlement is a complex of ruins, which for most tourists are perceived simply as a pile of geometrically arranged stones. Indeed, for the most part there is nothing to see here: there are no buildings and artifacts here, there are only outlines of buildings made of stones among bushes and trees. Unfortunately, the ruins are not protected in any way in the period between excavations, and are gradually destroyed by tourists and locals. Read more about the settlement "Seagull" here.

Remnants of the space communications center

Built in Soviet times, the space communications center and the Pluto antenna complex provided deep space exploration programs until the late 1970s. The building for those times is unique and advanced, but in 1978 it was replaced by one built not far from here in the village Milk radio telescope RT-70. Currently unused and being gradually dismantled, so hurry up to see what's left. It will be interesting for those who are interested in technology and communication.

Therapeutic Lake Konrad in Molochnoye

Therapeutic mud of the Crimea

On the outskirts of the Village, Lake Konrad stretches along the beach. Its bottom muddy mud is considered curative, and during the rest you can use absolutely free of charge or cosmetic or therapeutic procedures. But since there is no infrastructure for mud treatment, you will have to extract mud from the bottom yourself and carry out procedures in the Wild on the shore. However, it is quite simple to do this: you do not have to dig pits or wells, but simply with your hands or an improvised object to go deeper below the silt level by a few centimeters, and get fresh black mud from there. If you go a little further, you can get a blue shade of dirt, which is considered more useful for cosmetic purposes. However, it is worth remembering that self-treatment with mud is not recommended by specialists, and therefore it is worth adhering to at least simple rules, which you can read about here - about therapeutic mud in the Crimea and how to use them

The rest of the tram line in Molochnoye, and the tram itself is no longer there

Since 1987, a special tourist tram has worked in Molochny, which delivered tourists from the Beregovaya boarding house to the beach, and was one of the main "chips" of this small resort. It was one of the shortest tram lines in the world with a length of one and a half kilometers, and to ride and photograph the blue cars, even came here from Yevpatoria and other neighboring resorts. Unfortunately, in 2016, the tram completely stopped working, the remaining wires and tracks are gradually being stolen for scrap. Some sites on the internet still indicate that the tram line is in operation, but this is not the case. You can only walk along the remains of the rails, and no more.

This is a closed area, but at the entrance to the village you can see from the side the huge "plates" of the ktna-200 radio telescope and the ADU-1000 antenna. It is unlikely that these conditional "attractions" will be interesting to a wide range of tourists, but if you are interested in technology, you can admire these "engineering works of art" from the side through the fence. This is a huge radio telescope with a mirror diameter of 70 meters and an area of 2500 square meters, and has unique characteristics: in addition to receiving signals for the purpose of studying space objects, it is also able to send powerful radio signals in order to then analyze the reflected radiation. Museum marine curiosities in Shtormovoe
"Marine Curiosities"

This is a unique Museum of its kind, the exhibits of which are unusual objects washed ashore by the sea. The idea is to show how nature in the face of the sea can become an artist, creating almost objects of art. Of course, in fact, the exhibits are far from the objects of art, but the stones, for many centuries or even millennia, turned by waves to The Shape of the head of an alien, a bun and the like, can not but surprise. The exhibits in the museum are both man-made (stones, shells) and man-made (bottles, ceramics, even chairs), but changed beyond recognition during their stay at sea.

Visiting the museum includes accompanying a guide who tells informative and interesting stories, and involves visitors in fantasies about what this or that exhibit looks like. There are also master classes for children on making handicrafts-souvenirs.
